She had not gone far before a priest of Bar-Atu came running toward her, brandishing the great braided whip. “What is it doing?” he shouted. He did not live to hear an answer. A sweep of Kong’s arm shattered the man, sending his broken body tumbling, the whip flying. Ishara could have touched Kong as he hurtled past. She ran behind him, shouting a warning.

Suddenly Kong lunged toward the Gate, striking those who stood before him, sending them tumbling like broken dolls. Kong slammed into the doors of the Gate with such force that they groaned and creaked, but for the moment the great beam locking them held. The men on the beam platform began to haul for their lives, realizing that their only chance was to let the rampaging Kong out before he destroyed everything on this side of the Wall.

All of Skull Island awoke to the fury of the beast-god given voice.
A hand as large as a boulder lifted, formed a ball of bristles, bone and muscles, then came crashing down.
The Dyak who had taken the lead of the trophy-carrying pole was lucky. Ukung was simply smashed into a blob of flesh by Kong’s avenging fist.

Bending, Kong brought his furry fist down upon the tiny helpless human. Bones crunched. The fist lifted. Kong noticed something sticking to his hand. He peeled off the flat thing that had been a man, flung it away disdainfully.

Kong’s lunge came so suddenly that no one could react. He seized a sailor, lifted him high, and dashed him to death. The crewmen fell back as Denham, holding two bombs, fairly danced in a frustrated effort to find a vantage point.
The sailors retreated, seeking the cover of the native huts. The islanders themselves scattered, shrieking, “Kong! Kong!” in wild dismay.
Driscoll realized that they had left Denham alone. He barked, “You men get Ann to the boats. I’m going to help Denham. Somebody give me a couple of those bombs!” Morgan thrust two of the corrugated iron spheres into his hands, and Driscoll yelled, “Go! Don’t let him see her!”
The ancient witch doctor tottered forth, shrieking at Kong, who cruelly crushed him like an ant before seizing the lifeless body, biting it in two, and dropping the bloody fragments.

Khaan shrieked as the spear bit into the flesh of his thigh. With a furious blow he struck the rider squarely in the chest, sending him sprawling off his mount, and “the man hit the ground in such a loose, inert way that Taigu realized he had died instantly.
The young Kong yanked the bloody spear from his leg and threw it spinning away. The drak struggled to its feet and tried to gore him, but Khaan avoided the charge, giving its flank a thunderous clubbing. The cracking ribs were sickeningly audible and the drak squealed loudly, unable to keep its balance as it stumbled painfully down the hill on three legs.
Now Krom waded into the fight, snarling. Yarg shouted, “Look out — ”
Too late. Krom struck a heavy blow, crushing the skull of the second rider. His drak wheeled and charged just as Taigu’s staff found its mark in its thick shoulder muscles, but to little effect —
