  1. He saw the Hunter walk out of the shaft and into the chamber, saw Psi turn and scramble toward it. Something at the Hunter's shoulder blazed; Psi's front right shoulder ripped away in a burst of flame and blood. The big monster tumbled, fell, already trying to right itself. The Hunter saw him, looked away from Psi to him, the weapon on its shoulder matching the move of the Hunter's head, wide-bore barrel now aimed at Lewis's face. Psi, blood jetting from the gaping wound that used to be a shoulder, tried to balance itself. Even with one leg gone, slipping in its own blood, it tried to move toward the Hunter. The wide barrel swung back to the Yellabeast. A blue flash, a spray of blood and bone and brain. Psi slumped to the floor.-pg.419 chpt.15

  3. The Hunter strode down the corridors. It had activated its camouflage, which seemed to work as it had before despite the thin yet thorough coating of pollen. Lewis found he recognized only about half of the human corpses that he'd worked with for years, yet he knew every Yellabeast on sight. The Hunter used its shoulder blaster to kill Kap, blowing the beast's head into bloody pulp. It killed Mu and Nu the same way. Somehow, they'd gotten out of Pen A, either because the Hunter let them out, or because the system hack had cascaded into multiple failures.-pg.424 chpt.15

  5. The Hunter fell to one knee. Tau roared. Tau rushed. The Hunter's shoulder blaster fired. It missed. Tau came faster, closed the distance. The Hunter seemed to gather itself, to think, perhaps to aim. The blaster fired again; Tau's front right leg fell off at the knee. The creature fell. It howled. The blaster fired a third time. Tau's guts exploded in a ball of fire, splashing against the walls and ceiling. The beast seemed to gulp for air once, twice, and managed half a third before falling still.

  7. "So much for hunting season," Brunka said.-pg.426 chpt.15
