Make no mistake, for a warrior, the draconic deflector is much better. But for a spell damage paladin? This thing starts to get sick.

+Spell damage adds to the life drain proc at a 1-to-1 ratio. With my 5/8 judgement and some other +spell damage items, the drain life is at about 255. With a 3% chance, that isn't too bad, especially when you have 3 or 4 mobs beating on you. When I finish my full set, I should be at about 400ish spell damage, which will make the life drain proc huge, about 435 or so per proc.

The heal proc takes from +healing but the fire damage proc does not I know for a fact after having this thing for 10 lvls and hitting OL and getting some dmg and healing gear i get healed for around 300's but fire proc stays in its range but, it can CRIT.

Picked this up on my shaman for fun to try out the proc:
The fire proc doesn't scale with SP, the lifesteal one does. Lifesteal scales 100% with spellpower.

Scales with spell power, just tested this out on my 80 ret paladin with 1600 spell power, the drain life procced for 1586 shadow damage, healing me for that amount, not sure if this would be more useful than a 245+ shield I have from raiding for soloing low dungeons. Also, the fire damage it deals does not scale with spell power, it is a static amount.

Yes it is modified by spelldamage. When farming Large Brilliant Shards in BRD, I'll pull the entire emperor's room in one pull. With ~950 spelldamage it will proc for over 1000 life stolen and the flamestrike will proc for several hundred damage.

You have you realize the staying-power of this shield because the proc for lifestealing, gives 200% bonus from +dmg gear.
If you have over 800+dmg/heal gear it will DO 875dmg, and HEAL for 875dmg...
This is GREAT if you have a prot paladin in a lot of +dmg gear and your trying to help someone powerlevel. Run through armory and gather everything up, let the thing sit there and proc while you lifesteal constantly.

The chance on hit for this axe IS affected by dmg/healing, in turn actually giving you a 200% bonus from it, as the dmg portion is directly affected as well as the heal.
(i.e. if you have 400dmg/heal this axe will proc for 448-454dmg, and heal you for that much as well.)
Other items which have a similar proc to them are also affected in this manner.

The procrate of the weapon is approximately 2%, and as stated earlier it is affected 200% by your spell power, as other items with similar procs. (such as Neretzek, The Blood Drinker)

I'm a shaman and I got this on our first downing of Hakkar and since there seems to be a lot of discussion about the proc, I thought I'd add my observations to this.
I haven't run this with a parser or anything, but while fighting scarlets in EPL I generally get 3-8 procs/fight, which would be around 5% procrate.
It can proc multiple times in a windfury proc.
The proc is affected by +spell damage equipment, which in my case (with melee gear) makes it damage+heal for 82-88.
In a lucky fight I can get up to 10 procs.
The proc can crit.
Some other nice things to note is that the high speed gives many small windfury procs, meaning more reliable steady damage (it's basically dagger speed). With a shield + this I do around 200 pure melee DPS, which is nice for a mostly resto shaman without much melee gear. I put a crusader enchant on it, which further increases the healing and damage done.
So, I'd say this is in many ways better in the hands of a shaman than other classes, for the simple fact that it will proc more with flurry and windfury and a shaman will generally have some +spell damage gear which makes the proc bigger. The relatively high damage makes it a good weapon for anyone who needs a decent 1h weapon though :)

I picked up this axe for free on a non-DKP guild run of ZG.  I have +120 spell power and +274 healing with my current gear (I'm a Paladin).  With a quick glance at my combat log, I saw:
Your Drain Life heals you for 168.
Considering this is an instant attack and assuming the lowest stated value on the axe:
48 + (.43 * 274) = 165.82
So it appears that 43% of your +healing is added to this when it procs.

The proc is affected by +Spell damage gear iv seen it proc for 375 with my gear on.

This is probably a better weapon for an Ench Shaman or a Ret/Holy Paladin, than an Arms Warrior. The proc recieves a bonus from +spelldmg, which is something you won't find most Warriors with, yet endgame Paladins/Shamans have a lot of it.

Have it on my Paladin on Doomhammer, it procs very often for well above the listed amount (about 300 per proc with 250 +dmg).

Currently it is affected by +spell damage (patch 2.0.1) in the same way any drain life spell is (the bonus +spell damage is halved between the +damage and the health restore components).
именно, что с патча 2.0.1!

FACT: The break combat and drain effect is GONE. This Procs and does NOT break combat and does a 3 Tick HOT for the heal amount.
FACT: The drain life HOT is NOT affected by +dam/+heal.
FACT: You CAN have more than one DRAIN LIFE leeching at once.

I picked one up from an armorsmith friend of mine, because I heard the attack bug was fixed.
It's true! The armor will siphon 120 life in 4 seconds off of anyone that attacks you.
I put it on a 60 Paladin and went looking for multiple mobs. The good news here is that if you get hit a lot, and Paladins do, targets on all sides get lit up by the life drain green glow and graphic.
It was common to see it go off more than once in a multiple mob fight. Sometimes you will see two targets get it at once, and once in a six mob fight, 3 were being siphoned, bringing 360 life to yours truly, and of course doing 360 damage to them.
Just for fun I took it into the dead mines, and watch mob after mob die without a swing being taken.
That all being said, the base stats aren't worth the exchange. Demon forged armor is decent plate, but for higher level characters, try for a set piece.
Great piece of fun armor though. I keep mine in the bank now for when I'm bored.

не верю, чтобы у паладина было 0 спеллдамага, думаю он бы заметил, и вобще на тотботе и аллакзме ни одного упоминания про скалирование с спд, так что 99% что его не было

Please think. I have 8/8 judge (это 218 спд с чаркой на плечи) 1h off neph(+28) and red dragonscale protector. I crit well over 1500 with this trinket when it procs. I have killed groups of horde. It is and always will be one of the best pally trinkets i have ever seen. Would evan work great for shaman. Please think before you type

I got one of these just to goof aorund with and would like to clarify:
1st, the Graphics is awesome, Giant meteor Falls out of sky an leave a temporary searing crater.
2nd, it can crit, Mine has crit for 964.
3rd, it does seem to be effected by damage gear. I'm a warrior but since I hit rank 14 I had the staff to test it out with and with the staff it was hitting for harder than its max dmg.
4th, the aoe effect is divided. If for people are standing in the small rnage, it will divide the dmg among the 4, I.E. If it crit for 800, it would hit all of them for 200.
5th, It is instant cast and has a 35 yard range.
The aoe is nothing special but a 900 crit on single person is not exactly ignorable. In the end however, I really just got this for fun. I don't use it instances and only use it in duels when I'm goofing around with people.

Unless this was nerfed, it is 100% affected by spell damage. Best I can figure from what I've seen in videos, it runs roughly 70% coefficient. Note, however, the damage is dispersed amungst all targets. So, if it will deal 1000 damage to a single target, it will deal 500 each to 2 targets.
