DiscoDude: ---BEGIN SESSION---
DiscoDude: Session logging commenced
Ryusui: It's a balmy Friday afternoon on the tiny Caribbean island of New Monaco.
Ryusui: In the aftermath of your recent close encounters - both with the mysterious Samuel Hollingsworth and an armed hit squad sent to assassinate Heather Flanagan - you've been trying to track down any leads which might either connect the two or lead you to someone somewhere along the food chain.
Ryusui: You haven't found anything concrete, but you definitely found something interesting: a bunch of suspicious transactions routed in and out of the country.
Ryusui: The history of the island is something else as well: it's remained independent throughout the Cold War, ruled over by its Presidente-for-Life, Carlos Sanviento, who rose through the ranks after the previous Presidente and his entire cabinet was assassinated shortly after the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Ryusui: Ever since then, the place has been something of a bogeyman. You've definitely heard the stories yourself, Casper: there have been numerous attempts from such illustrious acronyms as the CIA and KGB to remove Sanviento from office the traditional way, i.e. a bullet to the head, but he's survived numerous well-planned assassination attempts.
Ryusui: The official statement is that New Monaco has the most elite internal security bureau in the world, but there's never been any real evidence to back it up: there is a state police, but while they're well-funded, there's no indication of the near-supernatural level of competence required to foil so many plots.
Ryusui: Normally this would all be just an interesting bit of history, but then came the clincher:
Ryusui: Eli doesn't remember any such country as "New Monaco" in the timeline he's from.
Ryusui: So long story short, you've got reason to believe there is a page of Merlin's Notes in play here.
Casper: (I assume the rest of us would realize that too, just that Eli is temporally sharp enough to spot it first.)
Ryusui: (yeah, the whole thing is fishy if you know what to look for, but Eli's info is the clincher)
Casper: (I meant "the rest of us also remember the original timeline.")
Ryusui: (right, right)
Ryusui: (forgot that part somehow)
Ryusui: And now the entire gang has a little hotel room with a breathtaking view of the nearby beach...and a pretty good view of the Presidente's Palace as well.
Ryusui: Now, I'm starting these shenanigans off in medias res a bit, so I'd like each of you <@&562022105017876480> to narrate a bit of prep you've done for this op, and roll against...let's say -1 (because I'm feeling generous π ) to create an aspect to start yourselves off with. :3
Casper: (This "generosity" feels like a trap, but sure.)
Sanchez: ( Can I roll resources to just be stocked? :o )
Ryusui: (stocked with what?)
Sanchez: ( Just like helpful stuff, I guess? )
Selene: before we begin, a question question: Is Heather safe? Moreover, can I leave her Selene's apartment keys
Ryusui: Heather is safe. Esther found her way into your luggage, but you managed to get her to stay on the beach and have herself a lovely time instead of following you on a dangerous and possibly deadly operation.
Casper: I'm sorry, what. XD
Ryusui: (and yes Selene can definitely leave Heather her apartment keys)
Selene: (yessss)
Casper: (Petitioning to have an episode consisting of Casper launching a big paranoid investigation on that lady. XD)
Ryusui: (XD)
Sanchez: ( The only thing I can roll that would work is...Stealth really :x )
Selene: (we got our first minisode, lol)
Ryusui: (i'll let you folks pick anything you want that you think might be relevant π )
Ryusui: (heck, even "crazy prep" might be useful)
Reality Glitch: ((Even divination.))
Casper: (For certain reasons, I'd like to go last.)
Sanchez: ( I guess I can use my Computers skill and make something computer related... )
Sanchez: ( Or look for security stuff, hum )
Casper: (Mostly because my prep involves picking a spot to launch straight into an attempt on el presedente's life.)
Casper: (Casper doesn't intend to give him anything to work with, even if time bullshit powers does save his life.)
Sanchez: "Alright so I decided to do some digging and find any and all weaknesses in their security." Sanchez lays out a big piece of blue paper with white lines. "So here's all the locations that are just crawling with backdoors we can use and not worry about triggering the alarms."
Sanchez: !f 5
DiscoDude: <@Sanchez> rolled 4dF+5 for 5 [4dF = [ ][ ][ ][ ]]
Ryusui: (well hell yes, that's a success with style XD)
Ryusui: Indeed, <@!Sanchez>, you've perfectly mapped out every single exploit in the defense of the Presidential Palace and the nearby area. This will help you navigate the physical barriers (doors, etc.), though guards might still be a concern. (Name it!)
Sanchez: [Security Flaws] (?)
Ryusui: (sure π )
Ryusui: ([Security Flaws][!!] it is!)
Reality Glitch: While the others get their own preparations in order, I perform a divination ritual to glimps Visions of the Near Future.
Reality Glitch: !f 5 (Create an Advantage with Knowledge)
DiscoDude: <@Reality Glitch> rolled 4dF+5 for 6 [4dF = [+][ ][ ][ ]]
Casper: (BTW, are there any hidden aspects in play we can realistically try to uncover here?)
Ryusui: (the only thing really hidden is the power of Sanviento's page π )
Casper: (What do we know of Sanventio's stats?)
Ryusui: (i just posted 'em in ooc)
Selene: Selene had other plans, involving a quick detour through the Palace's Powerline, A home-made device partly conceived with Sanchez's new found wealth, and a lot of parkour, seriously, she isn't made for this.
Ryusui: <@Reality Glitch>: You see the next...hour or so with surprising clarity. While some of the details - matters of personal choice that destiny can't quite pin down - are vague, you see...a bullet piercing Sanviento's skull. Or perhaps his chest. It's hard to tell. The point is, Sanviento is successfully neutralized. And that's the end of the vision.
Ryusui: Your recollection will naturally change as the future adjusts, but for the time being you have valuable foreknowledge.
Reality Glitch: ((How is that worth a double free invoke?))
Ryusui: (name it, and remember you get two invokes on it)
Reality Glitch: ((I did name it.))
Ryusui: (oh, cool, mb)
Ryusui: ([Visions of the Near Future][!!], then)
Ryusui: (and yeah, let's just say that if something comes up and being able to see slightly ahead helps, you can pop an invoke)
Selene: !f 2 (Also applying [It's Taken Care Of])
DiscoDude: <@Selene> rolled 4dF+2 for -2 [4dF = [-][-][-][-]]
Casper: (What's that stunt do? (I hope something good, because OOF.))
Reality Glitch: ((Just knowing that win in the end is rather lack luster and doesn't seem worth an aspect at-all; at least give me leverage I can use in the moment.))
Ryusui: (it's leverage you can totally use in the middle of things! i mean what were you wanting there? π )
Ryusui: (you asked for "visions of the near future")
Ryusui: (your near future is going to be raiding the presidential palace and taking care of Santviento)
Ryusui: (i mean)
Ryusui: (if you wanted something other than "a vision you can use while you're invading the palace and capping Santviento," you should've been more explicit; IDK?)
Reality Glitch: ((But I can't use it, that's the issue.))
Reality Glitch: ((If anything, it creates the reckless safety paradox.))
Ryusui: (why can't you use it? aren't you going to be like)
Ryusui: (part of the raid?)
Ryusui: (i mean what the hell else are you planning to be doing?)
Casper: (Eli doesn't want anyone to die, remember?)
Reality Glitch: ((That's not what I'm talking about.))
Casper: (Granted, Casper would get a lot of use out of this aspect with no complaints, but still.)
Reality Glitch: ((I know that they'll be shot, but I don't have any context to now how to set that up or otherwise ensure the prophecy comes true.))
Casper: (Having fate itself on our side isn't enough?)
Ryusui: (it's an aspect, dude, it's fluff, it's flavor)
Ryusui: (stop overthinking it)
Casper: (I thought it was an "I saw it in a vision, therefore it will happen" situation.)
Ryusui: (the point is that when you invoke it you will be using knowledge from your vision to help)
Ryusui: (like if you're in a situation where, say, having divined events beforehand might be useful, you can pop an invoke and bam, you say "wait, I saw this happening this way" and there you go)
Ryusui: (are you following? i just gave you a "predict the future whenever it might come in handy" card)
Ryusui: (because i literally cannot think of any other useful way I can realize your request without giving you a detailed step-by-step sequence to follow which will spoil the FUCK out of everyone's experience)
Casper: (Basically; "not all the details were described in the initial result - you get to make that shit up as you go along.")
Reality Glitch: ((Sorry; it seemed like you were trying to be vauge so that I couldn't benefit from being overly vague myself.))
Ryusui: (anyways <@!Selene> do you want to invoke, or reroll, or abide by the result?)
Ryusui: (i was being vague PRECISELY TO LET YOU be vague :P)
Reality Glitch: ((My mental facalties have been declining lately, so clever extrapolation is tougher than usual.))
Casper: (So... What now? Should I go while we wait for <@!Selene>'s decision?)
Ryusui: (why not XD)
Casper: (Finding his Trouble or power aspect at +4 difficulty is a bit tough... Let's shoot for something more doable.)
Selene: (So how did that roll g-)
Selene: (HOLY SHIT WHY)
Casper: Casper tries to locate and then dislocate an isolated guard for a Royal Disguise. (This good for using Fight?)
Selene: (im...not sure if I have anythign that can save me from this)
Ryusui: yeah, go right ahead XD
Casper: (A simple reroll will likely do it. Do you have even one aspect to invoke for this?)
Selene: (Roles don't count i take...Probably my HC??)
Casper: (And remember; it's -1 passive resistance.)
Ryusui: (yeah, like, anything better than -1, even a 0, will do it for you)
Casper: !f 5 (Fight)
DiscoDude: <@Casper> rolled 4dF+5 for 5 [4dF = [ ][ ][ ][ ]]
Selene: (Can I invoke my HC?)
Ryusui: (i'll let you, sure)
Casper: (Holy crap, that's already the third eclipse in 4 rolls.)
Selene: (Alright then....I'm not even gonna let the dice have that fail, so I'll boost it to 0, which as you said is enough.)
Ryusui: The guards like to get drunk. Really, really drunk. It's not hard to find one, pretend to drink just enough to get him to tell you how the guards usually behave, then goad him into a fight, lure him into a back alley, and beat the shit out of him.
Ryusui: (name it, and remember you get a double invoke!)
Casper: (Already did.)
Casper: (You guys are noting down any aspects you create and any FATE and stress you spend, right?)
Ryusui: (i know i'm noting down the aspects!)
Ryusui: As for you, <@!Selene>, a little flirting gets you where and what you need. A buffalo at the power station is convinced to turn his back just long enough for you to rig a power surge that'll shut down electricity to the Palace at the exact time of your choosing. (He walks away empty-handed.)
Ryusui: (name your aspect, and remember you get only one invoke!)
Selene: (nice, Remember I'm using [Itβs Taken Care Of] So i can use it when I'm not in the scene.)
Ryusui: (...all right, I'll name the aspect then ^^; )
Ryusui: ([Circuits Ready to Blow][!])
Selene: (Shit, I was gonna name it, but uh, alrgiht XD)
Selene: (just took a bit too long typing)
Ryusui: (i gave you like...five minutes ^^; )
Selene: (Sorryyy.)
Ryusui: Right, so, <@&562022105017876480>! The reins are yours now. The operation is about to commence. Anything you'd like to say to each other or do before the mayhem begins?
Sanchez: "Use my map, I printed out everyone one." He says, waving a stack of papers around.
Casper: Casper takes time to memorize it; a guard referring to a printout is suspicious as hell.
Reality Glitch: "Thanks." I take one of the maps.
Ryusui: (BURN BEFORE READING
)
Reality Glitch: ((????))
Casper: (Isn't it burn after reading?)
Selene: Selene Shows her phone, and a number written in a scrap of paper. "When its time to bail out, tell me to dial the number on the paper, will make our escape a whole lot easier."
Reality Glitch: ((I understand the twist, but what prompted it?))
Ryusui: (i'm just making a random stupid joke)
Reality Glitch: "You rigged a cell-bomb?"
Casper: "Why would you need us to relay a number back to you. Aren't you the one who wrote it."
Reality Glitch: ((I thend to understand jokes less when they're non sequiturs.))
Ryusui: (remember, this is the '80s; i'll excuse you having a cellphone because like...it is probably something enormous and you would have the money for it)
Ryusui: (but you ain't playing Candy Crush on that thing)
Reality Glitch: ((I thought I already established that I brought my phone from the future.))
Ryusui: (oh, oh)
Ryusui: (well, still, it's Selene talking about her phone)
Reality Glitch: ((And <@!Selene> already established that Selene has a brick-phone, so I didn't think it needed reminding in absence of explicit contradiction.))
Ryusui: (right, right, i forgot)
Ryusui: (my bad)
Ryusui: (it's been a while since i last ran π )
Selene: "Yes, and shut up, Casper It works on my phone, and I have a hard time remembering all the numbers on my notepad already, unlike you." She sighs and....puts the Brickphone away, somehow.
Ryusui: (Right, shall we move on to the Presidential Palace? :3)
Reality Glitch: "I will not shut-up; I just don't have it in me. With that said: let's go!"
Selene: "...I meant Casper, but uh, Fine, whatever, Let's get the ball rolling already!"
Ryusui: Your intel, Sanchez's map included, points to what looks - at first glance - like any other patch of exterior wall, far out of sight of the guards out front and any of the internal security towers. There used to be a side garden, and there used to be a gate to said garden...it takes a minute's effort to remove where the gate was covered up, but soon you have easy access.
Ryusui: The question is, what will you find behind it?
Ryusui: You have this place mapped in enough detail to find your way to Santviento's office easily, but while you know where the guard stations are and how to avoid them, you don't have any info about the patrols. So there's still an element of risk ahead.
Casper: (Can we see directly inside?)
Ryusui: You can see through to a hedge. There's a degree of visibility, but you can't see straight through to the palace, and you can't see if a patrol's coming without, y'know, sticking eyes into visual range.
Casper: So if Casper were to just enter and walk with confidence...
Ryusui: Does he? :3
Casper: Would that be a Stealth roll, in a way?
Ryusui: No need to roll yet; just answer the question.
Reality Glitch: ((I was about to suggest using a clairsentience spell to allow Awareness to penetrate the hedge-maze.))
Casper: (Does Eli do that?)
Reality Glitch: "Let me get a look."
Ryusui: (go right ahead, RG)
Ryusui: (gimme a roll)
Reality Glitch: !f 3 (Overcome with Awareness)
DiscoDude: <@Reality Glitch> rolled 4dF+3 for 0 [4dF = [ ][-][-][-]]
Ryusui: (leave it or run with it?)
Casper: (What's he rolling against?)
Ryusui: (+2)
Reality Glitch: "Hmm.... Can't seem to get a decent reading through the bushes." I turn to Casper; "You'll have to put that disguise to the test."
Casper: "Right, I'll scout ahead."
Casper: (Can I listen for a lull in the patrol?)
Ryusui: You step through. You hear the sound of boots in the distance, and only in the distance: faint but getting closer. No alarms or sirens yet.
Casper: Casper proceeds inward, not bothering to hide; why would a guard try to hide?
Ryusui: (Do the rest of you follow?)
Reality Glitch: I take a quick peel around before trailing Sargent No Chill.
Selene: Selene will try to stay hidden on top of following Casper into the building..
Ryusui: The hedge maze offers little difficulty. <@!Sanchez>'s maps further point you to a window to a disused side bedroom.
Ryusui: The window is closed and locked, but unwatched and there are no alarms on it. You may be able to sneak in quietly. And if not...well, there'll be noise, but not an outright security alert.
Ryusui: Or do you have an alternate approach you'd like to try?
Casper: That's fine and dandy for those who can't afford to waltz through the door. Casper can, however.
Selene: Shall Selene go first because of her high Stealth?
Reality Glitch: ((Is Burglary still a skill in this?))
Sanchez: ( yup )
Reality Glitch: ((Who has better than Mediocre (+0)?))
Sanchez: ( I got +2 )
Ryusui: (yeah, a burglary roll will get you in; Casper will be taking the front door, I take it? Will they wait? 'Cause Casper can totally unlock the window from the inside.)
Ryusui: (he might attract attention doing so, even in uniform, but still...)
Casper: (I'll let someone else have their time in the spotlight.)
Selene: ((right, Selene has +2 Burglary))
Ryusui: (to be clear: Casper walks straight up to the front door, to the two guards out front, in his full uniform?)
Reality Glitch: ((I was thinking of using a mage hand spell with transferable controls.))
Casper: (... Yes...?)
Sanchez: ( So, who wants to burglarize this window :o )
Sanchez: ( Do you want to do the honors, Selene? )
Selene: ((Suure, but Maybe you would have better luck considering how bad my rolls are XD))
Sanchez: ( I can go ahead if there are no, uh, uhhhhhh, interjections. )
Reality Glitch: !f 5 (Create an Advantage with Knowledge placing Mage Hand on the scene usable by anyone)
DiscoDude: <@Reality Glitch> rolled 4dF+5 for 4 [4dF = [-][+][-][ ]]
Ryusui: <@!Casper>: The guards salute at your approach. "Viva el Presidente," one of them says.
Ryusui: (to be clear, what are you making here)
Ryusui: (what is a "Mage Hand" so I know)
Reality Glitch: ((It's a D&D spell, but this version creates two floating ghost hands, one on each side of the window. Wearing the closer hand like a glove lets you manipulate the farther hand, which can physically interact with its surroundings.))
Ryusui: Conveniently, the official uniforms all have a tall hat and a face-obscuring collar.
Casper: Casper stops and salutes. "Veeva el Prezadentay." He attempts to proceed.
Ryusui: They don't stop you. There's a long hallway beyond; the aforementioned bedroom is to your immediate left, but there are two guards at the bottom of the stairs leading up to the second floor - and the Presidente's Office - who would notice.
Reality Glitch: ((Question: how tall is the building?))
Sanchez: ( I'll go ahead and open the window then :o )
Sanchez: !f 2
DiscoDude: <@Sanchez> rolled 4dF+2 for 4 [4dF = [+][+][-][+]]
Sanchez: (oh nice )
Ryusui: (There's two floors. About 35 feet from the ground to the lip of the rooftop.)
Casper: (Are there security cameras?)
Casper: Casper approaches the stairwell, hoping to ascend.
Sanchez: ( so uh, I guess Window's open now? :o )
Reality Glitch: "I'm going to going through the roof. Three paths of attack seems more profitable."
Ryusui: (let's say yes, yeah XD)
Ryusui: (no security cameras; this place isn't quite that high-tech)
Sanchez: Sanchez opens the lock on the window and climbs inside the room, motioning to Selene and Eli.
Ryusui: <@Reality Glitch>, if you wanted, you could fly around to the back of the building to the windows of the Presidente's Office.
Ryusui: Or did you have a different plan of attack in mind?
Ryusui: ( <@!Selene>, the window's open )
Reality Glitch: ((Back window.))
Ryusui: <@!Casper>: "Viva el Presidente," one of the guard says with a salute. "Going upstairs?" There's a hint of suspicion in his voice.
Selene: Selene enters through the window and takes a good look at the room, and its location based on the map.
Reality Glitch: Flying around to the back of the second floor, I take a look into the office through the window.
Casper: "Veeva L. Prezadentay. Si, juan of de Prezadentay's ghuests called for an ayxtra ghuard."
Ryusui: "The Presidente is not entertaining any guests?" the guard says, confusion added to his suspicion.
Ryusui: <@!Selene>, <@!Sanchez>: The room is in the front-left of the palace. If you peek through the door, you can see Casper - or what you hope is him - speaking to two guards at the foot of the stairs. One of them appears to be clutching his rifle anxiously.
Ryusui: <@Reality Glitch>: The Presidente's Office is decorated with dark, expensive wood and gilt on every edge. It must have cost New Monaco's entire GDP to kit the place out like this.
Ryusui: You see a high-backed chair, which moves slightly as if it is occupied, but you can't see El Presidente himself from this perspective.
Ryusui: (I mean. Odds are it's him in the chair, but you can't see him in the chair because the back of the chair is obscuring your view.)
Casper: "Juat? Dat-" Casper pantomimes putting a hand over his own mouth in shock. "Dat ees classeefied! Aye should not have talked. Prezadentay ees goin to keel me..."
Reality Glitch: !f 3 (Overcome with Awareness using clairsentience to see the room from the door opposite me)
DiscoDude: <@Reality Glitch> rolled 4dF+3 for 1 [4dF = [ ][-][-][ ]]
Ryusui: Nope, not good enough. That said, you definitely get a whiff of a familiar power. Santviento definitely has a page of Merlin's Notes on his person.
Selene: Can Selene eavesdrop on the conversation Casper is having?
Reality Glitch: ((I was thinking I success at the major cost of accidentally bumping into the window due to the reversed controls.))
Ryusui: <@!Casper> "Hey, hey, now, amigo! No need to panic! We all slip up!" "Yeah, El Presidente doesn't have to know," the other guard says. "Go on, we'll cover for you!"
Ryusui: <@!Selene>: You can hear it well enough. Casper seems to have faked his way past the guards. You'll need to find out your own way.
Casper: (Sweet Christ that worked?! XD)
Ryusui: (to be clear, <@Reality Glitch>: you want to take a look at this guy and make sure it's Santviento in the chair, at the cost of most definitely alerting whoever is in this chair, likely Santviento himself, to your presence?)
Casper: (I might have to change my Trouble at the next opportunity and start self-compelling to make Casper's unbelievably shitty acting start actually having a negative effect. XD)
Reality Glitch: ((Part of me is thinking it could one of those moments where the fumble alters the mark, but I scramble away intime that they don't see me in the window.))
Casper: (Hell, this might be a compel gold-mine I've sitting on this whole time!)
Ryusui: ((I'm saying that if you fumble this, if you bump the window, you are definitely getting spotted))
Reality Glitch: ((I think I'm fine with that. Interesting way to fail forwards.))
Casper: "Grassyass. Veeva L. Prezadentay." Casper heads up the stairs.
Selene: "Holy smokes, he actually did it!" Selene hides back in the room, looking at Sanchez. "Hmmm, I think we can sneak past them? Maybe lure both of them into this room and take them out silently?" She seems to be expecting feedback.
Ryusui: ( <@!Sanchez> )
Sanchez: Sanchez looks at Selene, "I'm not a combat focused spider...I'd likely fuck up on the neck chop or whatever and we'd be in boiling water."
Ryusui: (well, if it helps, Casper's cover story did say something about a guest...)
Ryusui: (you could pretend to be the guest, or the guest's, ah, entertainment ^_^; )
Sanchez: (Ah, yea, I guess we can be the "guests" )
Selene: "Hmmmm, Well, we can either pretend to be guests, or entertainment, your choice.." She looks at the side for a moment, before looking at the door.
Sanchez: "Uhhhh, sure I guess I can be entertainment, I can try at least." He says, shrugging, looking at Selene then at the guards.
Selene: "Then, pray this works." She opens the door, takes a deep breath and walks out.
Ryusui: You practically don't have to do anything, <@!Selene>. One guard elbows the other and whispers: "Ho-ho! Someone had to have paid a lot in town for this one!" The other manages to look sheepish behind his collar, but calls out anyway: "Hey there! Pretty lady! You, uh, here for our guest upstairs?"
Ryusui: They pay you no mind, Sanchez; they seem to think you're part of her entourage or something.
Sanchez: Sanchez keeps quiet, and follows Selene closely.
Ryusui: (okay, sorry for not catching up with everyone else, hang on)
Ryusui: <@!Casper>: There's two more guards before El Presidente's office. These aren't wearing the face-concealing collars of the others. There's something sharp in their eyes. The other guards are just to pad out the roster; these are the ones Santviento trusts with the actual work.
Ryusui: <@Reality Glitch>: Reality realigns itself as you view the office from the front. The man in the chair is, unquestionably, Carlos Santviento.
Ryusui: And as you bump into the glass, your perspective smacks back to normal as well.
Ryusui: It's then you realize you're still seeing Santviento.
Ryusui: He's turned around his chair and is facing you.
Ryusui: With a predatory smile on his face.
Reality Glitch: ((Species?))
Ryusui: "How very interesting. They're sending wizards now, are they?" the cheetah says, rubbing his chin.
Selene: She winks at one of the guards as she walks along. "What else would we be here for~?" After she is past the guards she groans. "Goddamn. Morons."
Sanchez: He keeps his mouth shut as he passed them and looked at Selene.
Reality Glitch: ((Did I get a see the page in the reverse image as well?))
Ryusui: <@!Sanchez>, <@!Selene>, you climb the stairs and find yourselves just a few paces behind <@!Casper>, who is facing two elite guards protecting the door to El Presidente's office.
Ryusui: <@Reality Glitch>: You didn't. But there's only a few places on that fancy military uniform it could be. The prominent chest pocket is a likely option.
Casper: (What's the measure of these guys, mechanically?)
Reality Glitch: "Wizards? Really? You really believe in such superstition?"
Ryusui: (They're still mooks to you, but they'll be easier to fight than to fool.)
Ryusui: <@Reality Glitch>: "Well, what else am I to call a flying man who appears at my doorstep? Or do you think you're playing clever games with...semantics?" He chuckles. "So tell me. Are you a one-man show? Or are there other clowns with you?"
Casper: Before they can open their mouths to question them, Casper takes out a grenade, pulls the pin, and tosses it at the foot of the door between the two guards.
Casper: !f 4 (Shoot)
DiscoDude: <@Casper> rolled 4dF+4 for 5 [4dF = [+][+][-][ ]]
Ryusui: (well, shit. Everybody roll a defense to avoid damage!)
Casper: (Everyone?)
Ryusui: (except Eli)
Casper: (I thought I had at least like a short hallway to work with.)
Ryusui: (i'm just gonna give you the win here, because you are throwing a grenade at close proximity with yourself and both of your allies in the blast radius)
Ryusui: (but you're all gonna have to roll to dodge damage, except Eli, who is outside)
Selene: (Is...Insight a valid way to defend?)
Casper: (And that's clearly because I was missing information.)
Casper: (I thought I had more space to work with.)
Ryusui: (it's a grenade! Inside a building! You have ten feet, maybe twenty tops!)
Ryusui: (i mean props for style and sheer does-not-give-a-fuck! XD)
Ryusui: (but you're all gonna be rolling against, hell, let's say +2)
Sanchez: ( Do I have to roll for it too, and what do I roll? )
Casper: (Ten feet at the absolute maximum. I think you're overestimating the blast power of a grenade.)
Ryusui: (yes, you're on the second floor, and you can roll anything you think might apply to like)
Ryusui: ("don't get hit by shrapnel/blast from a close-range grenade")
Sanchez: ( The blast won't kill you, it's the shrapnel )
Reality Glitch: I point to the large scaly wings flipping frantically to keep me hovering; "I was born with these you know. I know we dragons are rare, but I didn't think we'd be unheard of in.... What's this place called again?"
Sanchez: ( I guess I'll roll Awareness )
Sanchez: !f+3
Ryusui: (oh crap i forgot you had wings)
Sanchez: !f 3
DiscoDude: <@Sanchez> rolled 4dF+3 for 2 [4dF = [-][ ][ ][ ]]
Ryusui: (you're good Sanchez)
Casper: (Okay, so; clearly I had a lot less hallway to work with than I thought. What are we rolling against, if it was an auto-success?)
Sanchez: ( phew )
Sanchez: ( 2 )
Ryusui: (i was statting these guys as like, +2 for their "good at" stuff, no hitboxes)
Ryusui: (dude for the record i love this outcome)
Casper: (And I take it there's no taking back my action despite learning this new info?)
Ryusui: (i wouldn't want you to XD)
Selene: (Not so much love from me, i don't think i can roll anything to save Selene ^^;)
Selene: (how many Consequences do i take?)
Sanchez: ( Selene was safe I believe )
Sanchez: ( oh wait, Eli, nvm, derp )
Casper: (If it's an auto-success, does that 5 count as my defense, or do I need to roll again?)
Ryusui: (hell i'll let you have it)
Ryusui: ( <@!Selene> you need to beat +2 on something, otherwise it's 2 stress)
Casper: (I'll need to make this a stunt at some point.)
Casper: (I'll call it Fire in the Hole.)
Selene: (hm, I begrudgingly take it >:/)
Ryusui: And KABOOM.
Ryusui: Selene, you get grazed by shrapnel as the hallway right past Casper explodes.
Ryusui: The two guards lie blackened and unconscious on the floor, and the door to the Presidente's Office has been blown wide open.
Ryusui: <@Reality Glitch>, you see the door to the Presidente's Office explode right after you ask that question. Santviento smirks, and slowly turns back around in his chair.
Casper: "L. Prezadentay! Can you hear me?!" Casper shoots a few rounds down an empty side hallway. "Wee are under ettack!"
Ryusui: <@!Casper>, <@!Sanchez>, <@!Selene>, you all see Santviento sitting at his opulent desk, grinning a jagged-toothed smile as if you've brought him presents on his birthday.
Ryusui: "And he does impressions! Bad ones, too! My favorite kind," Santviento laughs.
Ryusui: You all also see Eli out the window, flapping his wings right behind the man's chair.
Sanchez: Sanchez squints at Casper and Santviento. "This was a great fuck up, huh?" He said, looking at Selene, "Oh fuck, you alright?"
Selene: Selene looks mighty pissed, or maybe shocked, possibly scared? She looks at the wounds and tries to get up, leaning on the wall a few seconds....She is confiscating all of Casper's grenades after this.
"That bird is gonna be my thanksgiving meal at this rate."
Ryusui: (XD)
Ryusui: Santviento takes a moment to look at an ornate gilded clock on his desk, then turns his attention back to you all. He draws a small handgun. "All right, now. How would you like this to go down? The easy way, or the hard way?"
Reality Glitch: "Oh! So you think you all think you can just waltz in here and ape my operation, huh? Who's trying to sabotage me this time: The Board?"
Ryusui: (what's Eli talking about?)
Casper: Casper points his gun up and enters the room. "Juat are you talking ebout? L. Prezadentay, wee need to geet you to sayftee!"
Reality Glitch: ((Trying to make it look like we're on opposing sides that are both after El Presidente.))
Sanchez: "Cut the act, he obviously knows you're not a real guard." Sanchez says, patting his body to get some dust off of himself.
Selene: Selene yells at Casper "QUIT THE FUCKING ACT!" out of sheer spite for the unannounced granade.
Ryusui: (okay, things are about to happen)
Ryusui: (just sit back for a sec, because this is what i was warning you about earlier)
Ryusui: Santviento sighs. There seems to be some genuine disappointment in it. "Fine, then. We'll do things the hard way." With a degree of resignation - but not surrender - he points the handgun at the side of his head, and...
BANG
Ryusui: It's a balmy Friday afternoon on the tiny Caribbean island of New Monaco.
Ryusui: You're all in a little hotel room with a breathtaking view of the beach, and a pretty good view of the Presidential Palace.
Ryusui: And you've all been in this exact same moment before.
Reality Glitch: "Oh no...."
Ryusui: There's good news. You still have your resources. It's not long before your group started the operation to infiltrate the palace.
Reality Glitch: "We've got a Re:Zero situation on our hands."
Ryusui: You also definitely have your recollections of the entire infiltration!
Ryusui: Right up until Santviento shot himself in the head, and you all found yourselves back here. In both the spatial and temporal sense.
Casper: "Is this the past? Right, we now know how the page works. Let's move before el presidente finds us."
Ryusui: (i think this is a good place to wrap up Part 1 of this scenario, don'tcha think? :3)
Reality Glitch: ((As in: hiatus until next week?))
Ryusui: (well. Thursday, if folks can swing it.)
Reality Glitch: "I at least know where to look. I'm going straight back up there to see if I can grab the page without them noticing."
Casper: "He'll know you're coming, though."
Reality Glitch: "I also know what to watch out for."
Reality Glitch: I then head skyward to return to the widow.
Casper: "Stop!"
Casper: Casper tackles Eli.
Casper: "You think he won't have a firing squad waiting for you up there this time?"
Reality Glitch: ((That'll be a contested roll unless you want to have the physical attempt fail only to stop me with your words.))
Casper: (The latter, sure.)
Reality Glitch: I pause mid-air for a moment before veiling my self in invisibility before continuing.
Ryusui: (<@!Sanchez>, anything to say?)
Reality Glitch: !f 5 (Create an Advantage with Knowledge to place Cloaking Spell))
DiscoDude: <@Reality Glitch> rolled 4dF+5 for 7 [4dF = [ ][+][+][ ]]
Casper: (You realize this is supposed to be a stopping point, right?)
Reality Glitch: ((Yes. π¨))
Ryusui: So Casper sees Eli fly off, or rather doesn't see him. <@!Sanchez>, pinging <@!Sanchez>~
Ryusui: giving you three minutes and then I'm giving <@!Selene> the okay to bring the house down and end this
Selene: "..." Selene instantly checks her arm to see that it is in pristine condition, then slaps Casper with her tail for the reckless action he did a timeline ago. "GODDAMNIT, IM CONFISCATING ALL YOUR GRANADES AFTER THIS!"
Ryusui: !end
