- 4/27/23 Tinychat Commandments
- We note that in this 21st century, as we pass through the 2020s and beyond, that people have become more inclusive but less tolerant. This is bullshit. Free speech is dead. Politically correct, status quo is the norm. Fascism and xenophobia have been replaced with dogmatic totalitarianism and normies. The socially fluent abuse the social venue, and the socially awkward are demonized and isolated. Hyperbole, hypocrisy, and personal bubbles have filled the latent space.
- We have become sinful and wicked.
- Five sins of pride characterize dysfunctional modern social group dynamics:
- Vanity
- {The group is entirely focused on drama and social activity within the group. The group may develop an unhealthy reliance on social validation.}
- When a group is focused on drama and social activity within the group, it can lead to conformity in thinking and reluctance to challenge the status quo. This can result in poor decision-making and an unhealthy reliance on social validation from within the group, causing loss of self-esteem and self-worth, and intensifying feelings of exclusion or rejection for those who do not receive validation.
- Conceit
- {The group's members are quick to attack viewpoints that oppose the status quo. The group's members engage in virtue signaling.}
- The need to demonstrate value in a socially constrained group encourages members to engage in virtue signaling, leading to superficial or insincere actions and creating an atmosphere where people feel compelled to participate in performative behavior to fit in.
- Prejudice
- {The group is critical of, derogatory towards, and disingenuous towards outsiders (Outgroup homogeneity bias). The group fosters an "us versus them" mentality (Ingroup favoritism).}
- Members of a closed circle group often view outsiders with a critical eye, making it difficult to understand and empathize with them, leading to conflict and misunderstanding, as well as a reduction in perspective diversity.
- Arrogance
- {The group protects the toxicity of socially fluent members (toxic positivity). The group becomes resistant to change and growth.}
- Protecting the toxicity of socially fluent members creates a culture of abuse and manipulation, which is harmful to group members and fosters a toxic environment. The group struggles with change and growth, as members are deeply entrenched in the existing culture, norms, and belief systems, limiting the potential of both the group and its individual members.
- Selfishness
- {The group leaders control the reality that its members (egos) are exposed to (Reality distortion field). The group develops a "filter bubble" mentality (Confirmation bias).}
- Group leaders(including socially influential people) control the reality that members are exposed to(through virtue signaling, toxic positivity, and social validation) making them vulnerable to manipulation and exploitation. This leads to the development of a "filter bubble," where members learn to automatically discard or filter alternative perspectives, resulting in a lack of intellectual diversity and an echo chamber effect.
- It is necessary to periodically take action to prevent the group you are part of from becoming overly predisposed to these tendencies.
- If the group becomes too toxic it will no longer be meaningful to participate in it. Gone will be free speech, authenticity, and genuine social activity. Replacing them will be weakness, toxicity, and fear. If you join a group and it exhibits these propensities in any great amount, you must disengage- quickly! do not waste time on attempting to integrate.
- We must ensure the following four things happen and continue to happen for any new social venues and any groups we value:
- Leadership(moderation) must be holistically structured to create competition.
- Elect on a cycling basis a third of the leaders through popular vote. This will help to ensure that the leaders are accountable to the group and motivated to do a good job.
- Appoint a third of leaders through internal council succession. This will help to ensure that the leaders have the experience and knowledge necessary to lead the group.
- Make a third of leadership positions for rent to anyone willing to pay, with rotating windows of appointment. Make at least some of them devil's advocates with exclusive veto powers.
- This proposal on leadership diversification addresses toxicity, change, and favoritism.
- Inter- and inner-group dynamics must be established to create diversification.
- Recognize memberships in other groups and encourage free emigration to and from from recognized outside groups. This will help to expose group members to new ideas and perspectives.
- This proposal on insular behavior reduction partially addresses favoritism, outgroup homogeneity bias, and conformity in thinking. Additionally, within the group,
- factions must be identified and authority figures that protect their faction members from abuse of authority empowered. This will help increase diversity of opinions.
- Systems or methods to protect dissent and free speech must be utilized and created.
- Create windows of opportunity/mechanisms for no-holds-barred(possibly anonymous) dissention and debate. Use polls, surveys, and more.
- This will help to ensure that all voices are heard and that all ideas are considered.
- This proposal on tolerance and dissention partially addresses reality distortion, favoritism, and the status quo.
- A constitutional basis for not only moderation but civic discourse should be developed, disseminated, discussed, enforced, and adopted by all.
- This constitution should consist of the following values, at the very least:
- 1: Free Speech must not be infringed. Any viewpoint must be tolerated. If you don't like their statements, block or hide them.
- `free speech` does not apply to threats, dox(home addresses, information about family, photographs of family are considered `dox` - names, cell numbers, and internet profiles are not),
- links to illicit content(even ironic- note this does not apply to links to content hosted on public forums which have their own TOS and moderation teams), or hacking links.
- 2: The use of moderator authority must be minimized to only prevent the abuse of resources and speech which violates the first rule.
- Individuals should never be kicked or banned, unless there is either a unanimous consent to do so or they are violating the rule.
- Individuals should not be closed unless they are wasting a cam slot that could be used for social interaction.
- Up to one individual at a time can be allowed to play music or videos or films, unless someone requests a slot and there are none others available.
- Up to 1/4th of the slots available may be allowed to play `no activity` empty rooms, person sleeping, etc. This includes the slot for music/video/film content.
- Any individual who goes more than 2 hours on cam without speaking or communicating in text should be considered as `no activity`.
- 3. No females, trannies, crossdressers or active drug addicts should ever be made a moderator, as they have conflicts of personal interest and no ability to maintain civic discourse.
- 4. No profiles, forums, or chats outside of the main chat room on tinychat(or other website should your room not be on tinychat) should be created, linked to, or endorsed.
- This avoids drama and the creation of a backlog of information specific to an in-group. Individuals who link to, use, or promote forums or other forms of persistent-retention
- for discourse around the chat should be banned as creating un-necessary drama and backlogs.
