- There is a DVD & SACD Relase by NAXOS. 51 is from DVD, 20 is from SACD. DVD is PPCM 48k/24/6, SACD is DSD64 2.8m/1/6. I think DVD (barely) > SACD since:
- -DVD has no DCO. SACD has DCO. (DCO is usually not fixed in mixing, since it's a very subtle problem)
- -DVD 24k is full BW, suggesting this isn't a downconvert of a higher SR recording (or it could be a LQ SRC)
- -SACD has not much activity >24k (but then not many do)
- -Neither have much aliasing around 22k, which is remniscent of DSD conversions
- -DVD says "Original AR Recording" but SACD says "mastered in DSD". If we take this literally, it suggested that this was recorded in AR, and then converted to DSD for SACD. (But then it says recorded using Pyramix Recording System, and Pyramix is known for its DSD technology, but thenagain, Pyramix systems might record in PCM for PCM or DSD flexibility)
- -I can't find any further information to cement whether this is a native PCM or DSD recording
- -AIX does 96/24 recordings in surround, and they're a high-end label, NAXOS is only a medium-end label, so it would make sense if they opted for 48/24 only
- The argument could go either way. Anyway, most stuff on here is DVD.
- There is, a 71 BD released later. I'm ntbthrd to download more medias to compare for a very small difference, and the BD label is known to upscale SR to HR (and 51 to 71).
