MPC-HC + LAV Filters Readme 2012.08.24

  1. install all programs and decoders, remember to find a nice place for madVR to be extracted to where it wont get deleted *note only install madVR if you have a good dedicated card
  2. open MPC-HC check store settings to .ini file
  3. close mpc-hc
  4. copy the .ini to C:\Program Files (x86)\Media Player Classic - Home Cinema\ and overwrite the file that is there
  5.  
  6. start up MPC-HC and play a file known to have video, audio, and subs *you can use the sample video provided
  7. click into the files let it seek there then pause
  8. right click the video and go to filters, madVR, LAV video decoder, DirectVovSub, Lav audio decoder, and LAV Splitter Source
  9. if everything is there your good to start changing the settings
  10.  
  11. if your outputting your audio to a surround receiver:
  12. right click the video and go to filters, click LAV Audio Decoder
  13. under output formats uncheck both 32bit optins unless your audio card somehow supports it
  14. under bitstreaming check all formats that your receiver supports
  15. under options
  16. check expand mono to stereo and expand 6.1 to 7.1
  17. under the mixing tab make sure enable mixing is unchecked and all seetings are unchecked or set to none
  18. click apply then ok at the bottom
  19.  
  20. if your outputting audio directly to speakers:
  21. right click the video and go to filters, click LAV Audio Decoder
  22. under output formats uncheck both 32bit optins unless your audio card somehow supports it
  23. under bitstreaming make sure nothing is checked
  24. under options makesure expand mono to stereo and expand 6.1 to 7.1 are unchecked
  25. under the mixing tab
  26. under mixer enable mixing and select speaker config
  27. under settings check dont mix stereo sources and uncheck normalize matrix and clipping protection
  28. under matrix encoding select none
  29. click apply then ok at the bottom
  30.  
  31. if you have a dedicated GPU:
  32. right click the video and go to filters, click madvr, then Edit Settings
  33. click and expand devices then click your device
  34. set the device type
  35. expand your device and set the display mode *if you dont know what display mode you should set contact me
  36. click and expand processing
  37. turn of all decoding and deinterlacing
  38. click and expand scaling algorithems
  39. click luma upscaling and set it to spline
  40. click luma downscaling and set it to spline
  41. click and expand rendering and click general setings
  42. check disable desktop composition and uncheck only in fullscreen
  43. hit apply the ok at the bottom then ok and the window that is still on screen
  44. *if you have problems with preformance its probably because you dont have a powerful enough GPU contact me for help adjusting or try disabling madVR

  46. if you dont have a dedicated GPU:
  47. in MPC-HC click view>options
  48. select external filters
  49. click madVR and select block on the right hand side
  50. select Playback>Output
  51. under DirectShow Video select Enhanced Video Renderer
  52. click apply then ok at the bottom

  54. if you have a Nvidia GPU capable of CUDA:
  55. right click the video and go to filters, click LAV Video decoder
  56. under hardware acceleration, gardware decoder change to CUVID
  57. under Hardware/GPU deinterlacing makesure the algorithem is set to adaptive and high-quality processing is checked as well as 50p/60p (Video)
  58. on the output formats side change RGB output levels to untouched if using madVR, if using EVR set to TV
  59. click apply then ok at the bottom
  60. *depending on your GPU you may not be able to use both madVR and CUVID, if you have problems with preformance disable madVR, if you are still having problems contact me for help

  62. if you have a ATI GPU or APU:
  63. right click the video and go to filters, click LAV Video decoder
  64. under hardware acceleration, gardware decoder change to DXVA2 (native)
  65. on the output formats side change RGB output levels to untouched if using madVR, if using EVR set to TV
  66. click apply then ok at the bottom
  67. *depending on your GPU you may not be able to use both madVR and DXVA2, if you have problems with preformance disable madVR, if you are still having problems contact me for help

  69. if you have a new intel i series CPU:
  70. right click the video and go to filters, click LAV Video decoder
  71. under hardware acceleration, gardware decoder change to Intel QuickSync
  72. on the output formats side change RGB output levels to untouched if using madVR, if using EVR set to TV
  73. click apply then ok at the bottom
  74. *depending on your GPU you may not be able to use both madVR and DXVA2, if you have problems with preformance disable madVR, if you are still having problems contact me for help

  76. if you have on integrated graphics:
  77. right click the video and go to filters, click LAV Video decoder
  78. under hardware acceleration, gardware decoder change to none
  79. on the output formats side change RGB output levels to TV
  80. click apply then ok at the bottom

  82. You have now completed configuring MPC-HC close the program completely and try playing the provided video, contact me if any problems result.

  85. **NOTE: to change track in files right click, go to files, then the files path, and you should be able to select the sudio video and subs that you want
