  2. DiscoDude: **Session logging commenced**
  3. DetectiveCaillou: Lazarus and Val are standing within the tent, having just watched Mada and Alyka leave. They themselves are being handed some heavy-looking equipment in the form of three parcels. Two of which have these small blinking black boxes attached, and the third having a wire running out of it, wrapping around a bit, and ending at a plug fuse. All of them have this peel-off sticker/glue substance on the back.
  4. DetectiveCaillou: <Please, be careful with these,> says Sabrina. <Your mission, should you accept, is to plant these C4 charges on each of the cell towers around the Outer Ruins. After the first tower is down, we'll be able to wirelessly detonate the other charges, but you'll have to manually do the first one yourselves.>
  5. Lazarus: Lazarus looks at the parcels, "I'm going to see if these can float, just make sure they don't...fall..." He overhears they are C4. "Yup, just make sure these don't fall if I screw up."
  6. Lazarus: (Roll athletics, right?)
  7. Valente: "I'd rather you don't screw up, in the first place, if that's an option."
  8. DetectiveCaillou: The parcels float up effortlessly. <Y-yeah,> says Nico, <your powers are part of why you were selected for this mission; lugging that stuff around while keeping out of sight wouldn't be easy without them. Also... e-expect the towers themselves to be guarded... Expect a fight or two.>
  9. Lazarus: Laz gives a thumps up, "Yeah, let's get going." Lazarus then attempts to float as well, "And I don't think I can handle four objects at once, so you're gonna have to find a way mister magic man."
  10. Valente: "It is not like we will have to levitate all of them at once."
  11. Lazarus: "Hey, it'll be easier for you and me if I do that." He shrugs. (Do I havr to roll atheltics now or...?)
  12. DetectiveCaillou: (It's an automatic action. What, do you *want* to leave you the chance to drop the bombs and kill everyone? XD)
  13. Valente: (Well, rolls should happen if both outcomes are interesting... Not only when failure is interesting)
  14. Valente: (Or when only victory is)
  15. DetectiveCaillou: (But not if it's not that hard, and the alternative is akin to saying "oops, rocks fall, everyone dies." XD)
  16. Lazarus: (Alright alright, automatic action it is.)
  17. Lazarus: (Let's just timeskip getting over there.)
  18. Valente: I suppose a timeskip is indeed in order
  19. DetectiveCaillou: (Right. Maybe roll Stealth to get into the Outer Ruins, you two? Just beat +0. Unless Stealth isn't how you roll?)

  33. Valente: (or, if Laz had failed, I could have covered this for him)
  34. DetectiveCaillou: The two of you get into the outer ruins through a relatively light entrance, and are able to manage to keep [Mostly Out Of The Way][*]. Though it's small - hardly bigger than the ruined buildings around it - you can already see the first cell tower. This is the one you need to blow up manually, supposedly.
  35. Lazarus: Laz taps his ear piece, "We see the cell tower, you want us to blow it up, right?"
  36. DetectiveCaillou: Nothing but static. (XD)
  37. Valente: "You do realize..."
  38. Valente: "That the tower is jamming our transmissions, and we are closest to it than ever."
  39. Lazarus: "...Yes, Valente...?" Laz grumles and then stops, "...No?"
  40. Valente: "It is the reason why we are to blow it up."
  41. Valente: "In any case, we approach our objective... I should try and see if I can scout it from afar, with my spyglass trick."
  42. Lazarus: "Well, let's just blow it up then." Laz shrugs, "Didn't pay much attention because of my arm being singed."
  43. Lazarus: And Laz shrugs, "Yeah whatever, just do your scouting thing."
  44. Valente: _Valente taps his wand on his hat twice, before looking through it to check what he can see on the tower... And between them and the tower._
  45. Valente: (What skill is this again?)
  46. DetectiveCaillou: (This would be Investigate.)
  47. Lazarus: (I can just lazily roll my Investiage roll)
  48. Valente: (Laz, what is your investigate?)
  49. Valente: (because I can repeat history)
  50. Lazarus: (+1, though he's not gonna butt in if he sees something not too special)
  51. Valente: (Well, I'll get my investigate at +1... )

  63. DetectiveCaillou: Lazarus, squinting in the distance, you can see the rather small cell tower at the end of the road. Seems like most of its support is in its central shaft. It also has two guards underneath it... Or, well, one sleeping guard, and one fidgeting one.
  64. Lazarus: Laz taps Valente, "Uh...Val? I spy with my lil eyes something that may make that tower fall."
  65. Valente: "Oh? I was about to say that... What is it?"
  66. DetectiveCaillou: Eventually, the fidgeting one, after trying to kick his sleeping friend awake (and failing), he- is he hopping from one leg to the other? He starts moving to the back of the lot, and he- yep, he's undoing his pants. Bad time for his friend to be sleeping on the job, it seems.
  67. Lazarus: "You see that tower at the end of the road wih those two guards? apparently we can just bust that central shaft and make it topple." He then sees what unfolds in the distance, "And...yeah..."
  68. Valente: "Oh, I see... It doesn't seem to have much of obstacles between us and that, either."
  69. Valente: "So! Should we try to make our approach?"
  70. Lazarus: "Sure, let's go."
  71. DetectiveCaillou: (So you're sneaking up to the tower's base?)
  72. Valente: (Yes, we will try to use the cover of the ruins for that)
  73. Lazarus: (Yup)
  74. Lazarus: (Oh, can I make a stunt for Stealth?)
  75. DetectiveCaillou: (The tower itself is kinda contained within a square lot between two buildings, but okay. Roll Stealth vs. +0)
  76. Lazarus: (Wait wait, I just thought of something that would be a good stealth use)
  77. Valente: (Should I wait? Or do I roll?)
  78. Lazarus: (You could probably roll, this would be for himself)
  79. Lazarus: (Laz would pretty much use the wind to make sounds or footsteps dead silent, cushioning and blocking them out)

  86. Lazarus: (Not really, he makes it so nobody not even allies could hear him)

  88. DetectiveCaillou: (That's... what this stunt does. Maybe under a different name.)
  89. Lazarus: (Yeah, but can I have it?)

  91. Lazarus: (I mean I can go a step further and make it so he's practically invisible ~~Pillar Men themes plays~~ )
  92. DetectiveCaillou: (No, that's taking it a bit far, at least for now.)
  93. Valente: (Don't focus too much in stealth, you are the strongest of the team, after all)
  94. Lazarus: (This campaign seems to have lots of intercepting)
  95. Lazarus: (Would be helpful for one skill)
  96. Valente: (You are not wrong... For now)
  97. DetectiveCaillou: (Well, this scenario, anyways. The other one involves more hitting.)
  98. Lazarus: (Fine, I'm just gonna roll a +0)

  104. DetectiveCaillou: The two of you [Waltz Right Up][**] to the tower. You can hear the guard taking a whizz not ten feet away now, and you also just now recognize strange runes running up and down the metal skeleton that is the tower. (A Lore roll vs. +2 to figure out what they are.)
  105. Lazarus: (...You got a lore roll Valente? If not I can also make up an excuse for the Runes for a stunt.)
  106. Valente: (Damn, I am a magician, I actually should have lore on fair... Lemme see...)
  107. Valente: (Actually.)
  108. DetectiveCaillou: (Average?)
  109. Valente: (Do we get to change our skills between sessions? Maybe Lore fits better my character, rather than will)
  110. DetectiveCaillou: (Yeah, that could make sense. Will should probably still be on there somewhere, though.)
  111. Valente: (I'll find a place for it)

  116. DetectiveCaillou: Valente, you recognize several patterns, actually. One is a simple ward of protection; a particularly powerful one, since it's focused entirely on magical force. Makes sense; ranged bombardment isn't exactly something that science can accomplish just yet. Another is a modified spell of control that seems to be connecting receivers with transmitters, focused on organic bodies and attuned to Spirit magic. It doesn't seem strong enough to affect anyone with an IQ with more than one digit, though.
  117. Valente: "Hmmm... These patters, I know what they are for..."
  118. Lazarus: Laz stares at them for a while, "Kinda reminds me of my dad's runes a bit."
  119. Valente: "One is a ward, against magic force, and it is extremely potent. The other one is not very potent, and is aimed towards organic bodies... Probably some sort of a way to control the headless bodies that may patrol the local..."
  120. Lazarus: "Hmm...Let me see if I can make those runes malfunction with my own."
  121. DetectiveCaillou: (Reminder; magic, these bombs are not. :3)
  122. Lazarus: (Yup, Laz is gonna use his Rune Tattooed arm to disable those runes.)
  123. Lazarus: (Or at least try)
  124. Valente: "We can actually blow those runes with the bomb, along with the tower itself, I believe..."
  125. DetectiveCaillou: (No, I mean it's a ward *specifically* against magical force; regular force still totals it.)
  126. Valente: "And, it doesn't stop us from going through."
  127. Lazarus: (Ah whoop, I thought it was a ward for physical)
  128. Lazarus: "Fine...Let me see..." Laz looks at the tower, "You think one C4 charge will do? We can go around and look for other runes like these."
  129. DetectiveCaillou: (Reminder; there are three towers. Laz would know that if he was actually paying attention in the debriefing. XD)
  130. Lazarus: (He wasn't, too much time looking at his arm)
  131. Valente: "It is probably all over the place, to give it full covering. We should worry about destroying this tower... And once we do this one, there will be consequences."
  132. Lazarus: "Alright, keep charge of making sure no one takes away this charge, I'll look around for the other two."
  133. Lazarus: Laz sets one of the charges down next to Valente.
  134. DetectiveCaillou: (Is it the one with the manual plug detonator?)
  135. Lazarus: (Nope, the one without it)
  136. Lazarus: (Wait...I thought two were wireless)
  137. DetectiveCaillou: (There are two, yes. The plug detonator is the one with the wire.)
  138. Lazarus: (Well, actually, yeah, make that the manual.)
  139. Valente: _Valente swipes the charge given to him._
  140. DetectiveCaillou: You two hear a *zip*, and the distinct lack of whizz.
  141. Lazarus: "Don't detonate that one yet until-" Laz pauses.
  142. Valente: "Alright, let's see if we can plant this and then leave... We got other two towers-"
  143. DetectiveCaillou: (*two)
  144. Lazarus: "...That one is a manual..."
  145. Lazarus: "Hence why you gotta sit there..."
  146. Lazarus: Laz's tone is hushed.
  147. Valente: "Uh, I think the guard zipped his pants." Valente whispers
  148. DetectiveCaillou: "Uh-..." You are aware that while you were talking, the guard turned around.
  149. Valente: How far are we from him?
  150. Lazarus: Laz goes ahead and flies towards them and attempts to one punch them into next week.
  151. DetectiveCaillou: ("Not ten feet away," I said.)
  152. Lazarus: (Can I roll my Fight skill?)
  153. Valente: "Hello! oh it seems that-" Val started trying to pull a fast one on this guy, but Laz was far ahead with his game
  154. DetectiveCaillou: (Sure. Rolling Physique defense.)
  155. Lazarus: !f 4

  166. DetectiveCaillou: *THWACK* The guy goes flying, and crashes into a pile of pottery on the exposed second floor of the adjacent building. *CRASH*
  167. Valente: _Valente rushes to see if his friend woke up_
  168. Lazarus: "...Uh..." Laz stares at his arm, "Shit..."
  169. Lazarus: Laz also looks for that friend.
  170. DetectiveCaillou: He's still asleep, but the sounds of someone calling out in your direction can be heard. Several voices, in fact. Things might get ugly if you stick around.
  171. Valente: "Well, nobody to stop us from planting the bomb, let's do this and leave."
  172. Valente: "And let's do it quickly!"
  173. Lazarus: "Ditto."
  174. DetectiveCaillou: (Sorry if this feels like success at a cost; I might be pushing the "explode'n'dash" scenario slightly.)
  175. Lazarus: (Well my plan was me punching him so hard he rebounds off the floor)
  176. Valente: (So... how do we do this again?)
  177. DetectiveCaillou: (Anyways, you set up the manual detonator here. Do you push it?)
  178. Lazarus: (Yup, why not)
  179. Valente: (How far can we be to be safe?)
  180. Lazarus: (People are about to be alerted anyways)
  181. DetectiveCaillou: With the wax paper layer torn off of the adhesive, the C4 attaches nicely to the central shaft. You can hear the calls getting closer as you fully extend the cord to a decent thirty feet. All you need to do now is pull up and push down the plug.
  182. Valente: _Valente pulls up and push down the plug, just like in the cartoons_
  183. Lazarus: "Hold on, don't push it down yet-"
  184. Valente: "Oops."
  185. Lazarus: "...I was gonna kill about 10 other birds with one stone."
  186. Lazarus: "Y'know...wait for them to get close."
  187. DetectiveCaillou: *BOOM* The bottom of the tower erupts into a wave of air, and a smaller cloud of dust. The tower seems to *crumple* as it falls down around the guard, Buster Keaton style, just as he's being startled awake.
  188. Lazarus: "But you see, now they're still there." Laz pinches the bridge of his nose.
  189. Valente: "Let's skidaddle!" Valente says, taking point in trying to make an escape "There's still dust in the air, c'mon!"
  190. Lazarus: "Ugh, fine." Laz goes ahead and follow Valente.
  191. DetectiveCaillou: Calling turns into shouting as the guards approach the site of disaster as the two of you escape to search for the next tower. (Roll Stealth to see if someone runs into you as you traverse the ruins.)
  192. Valente: !f 2 (stealth, hopefully we can use our boosts if needs be!)

  197. DetectiveCaillou: (Well, as we're on high-alert, you guys need to beat +2.)

  200. DetectiveCaillou: (You have three, total. Don't worry, the mild cost for one of your successes actually helps me showcase a little someone quite nicely. :3)
  201. Valente: (Well then)
  202. Lazarus: (Let's both use the "Waltz Right Through" )
  203. Lazarus: (That one has 2)
  204. DetectiveCaillou: (For +2, right. Then Val has another boost (which Laz can use instead if we want).)
  205. Valente: (I will use my boost too... So that I can at least tie...? Right?)
  206. Lazarus: (We don't even know that gap)
  207. Lazarus: (What number are we up against?)
  208. Valente: ( We do, +2)
  209. DetectiveCaillou: (Well, both tie with the double boost, but only one can use the other single boost for the clean win.)
  210. Lazarus: (Ah, well, you can use that +2, I will just take a Success at a minor cost)
  211. DetectiveCaillou: (Alrighty.)
  212. Valente: (I could fish for a reroll)
  213. Lazarus: (Oh right, you got a -2)
  214. Valente: (The odds are generous, should I?)
  215. Lazarus: (yis, gives Valente lucky dice)

  227. DetectiveCaillou: (Well, you'll still succeed, just at a minor cost.)

  229. Lazarus: (We can all just get the hell out of there perfectly)
  230. DetectiveCaillou: (Well, you used a boost on the reroll.)
  231. Valente: (Alright...? )
  232. Valente: (yes, I did)
  233. DetectiveCaillou: (So who gets the tie?)
  234. Valente: ( <@!Lazarus> , I am okay with the tie, do you want it?)
  235. Lazarus: (Oh, I thought you used a fate for an aspect :/ )
  236. Valente: (nop)
  237. Lazarus: (Eh, nah, you can go ahead and get away scot free )
  238. Valente: (Whatever you say)
  239. DetectiveCaillou: (Alrighty.)
  240. DetectiveCaillou: Lazarus, as you and Val escape the chaos, you catch your foot on a piece of rubble and go down, but not for long. Before you even gave yourself the chance to register even minor pain, you're up and out of there, chatching back up to Val as the two of you move on to locate the next tower. Looking down, you notice that your foot had bled a little, but had stopped by now already.
  241. DetectiveCaillou: (I hope tripping and injuring yourself isn't completely out of character?)
  242. Lazarus: (Nah)
  243. Lazarus: Lazarus decides and floats on up, "Not gonna put some weight on that for a while."
  244. DetectiveCaillou: (Stress can be a "mild cost," right?)
  245. Valente: Usually you'd expect something interesting to spice up the narrative, but, I am sure 1 stress is mild
  246. Lazarus: (Yeah)
  247. DetectiveCaillou: (Right. But this also acts as an opportunity, flavor wise. (You'll see.))
  248. DetectiveCaillou: As you wrap around the district, your comms crackle to life.
  249. DetectiveCaillou: <--e-e -ou ar-! Finally! That explosion means you took out t-e first -ower. Tha-'s good. The towers get e-ponentially stronger the more are -inked u-. Our comms -re powerful enough -o break through now.> It's Nico.
  250. DetectiveCaillou: <B-but we still need you to take out the other two towers. Better clarity would be, um, appreciated, but also as i-surance if they want to -ry fixing the connec-ion.>
  251. Lazarus: "Roger that." Laz looks over at Valente, "Let's continue on the other towers."
  252. Valente: "Alright, they might be on high-alert now, so, we shall try to strike them quickly before they get too organized... And if we can't, we might have to try another day."
  253. Valente: _Valente tries to look where is the next closest tower... It shouldn't be hard._
  254. DetectiveCaillou: (Roll Investigate?)
  255. Lazarus: !f 1
  256. DiscoDude: <@Lazarus> rolled 4dF+1 for 0 [4dF = [-][+][ ][-]]
  257. Valente: !f 1 (investigate)

  259. Valente: Well, at least nothing uninteresting will happen, should I lose
  260. DetectiveCaillou: (This is versus +2.)
  261. Lazarus: ( I got nothin *shrugs* )
  262. DetectiveCaillou: Valente, you spy with your little eye, a tower. It's not far from where you wound up after you finally started to get your bearings.
  263. DetectiveCaillou: And as our two heroes head out towards their second objective...
  264. DetectiveCaillou: A foxbat flies in on the first tower, pulling her goggles after landing. She reaches the center, where the once sleeping guard, gets stiff... and starts sniffing him.
  265. DetectiveCaillou: One of the other guards walks up.
  266. "Hey," he says, "what are you-"
  267. "Shhh!" His partner shushes him. "She's working. C'mon, what'd you find, Scrappy?"
  268. DetectiveCaillou: Scrappy got down on her paws, sniffing the ground as she crawled, before stopping...
  269. Lazarus: (Oh boy, they're gonna sniff Laz's blood and find him)
  270. DetectiveCaillou: *SNORT* She gets up and heads over to a piece of rubble. There's a scrape of blood on it.
  271. DetectiveCaillou: "Scrappy, did you find it, girl? Did'ja? Good gi-"
  272. "Quiet," said Scappy. She sniffed the blood.
  273. Valente: ( haha )
  274. DetectiveCaillou: "... Mammal." She runs her finger across it... and tastes it, rapidly smacking her tongue with an almost *clicking* sound.
  275. DetectiveCaillou: (When she does this action, the race is on!)
  276. DetectiveCaillou: !roll 4df+4 (Lore + {Palette Profile})
  277. DiscoDude: <@DetectiveCaillou> rolled 4df+4 for 6 [4df = [ ][+][ ][+]] (Lore + {Palette Profile})
  278. Valente: (well, that wasn't unexpected)
  279. DetectiveCaillou: (Vs... Let's say +2, for blood. Heck, even +3 would be SWS.)
  280. DetectiveCaillou: She pauses, licks her lips.
  281. DetectiveCaillou: "Yep. Mammal. Topsider. Wind affinity. Fox..." Another pause.
  282. DetectiveCaillou: "... Aurorian."
  283. DetectiveCaillou: She bolts up, gets to the edge of the site, looks over her shoulder, and grunts at a couple guards to follow her. They depart, with Scrappy sniffing the air as she went.
  284. DetectiveCaillou: (Lazarus is officially [Profiled][!!].)
  285. Lazarus: (Hey, uh, can we end it here? )
  286. DetectiveCaillou: (Sure.)
  287. DetectiveCaillou: !end
