- <prunedtree> same with 16->24 bit [audio]`upsampling'
- <prunedtree> and nobody will hear the difference regardless ;)
- <prunedtree> <junh1024-XD> or any operation like increasing the voluem by 0.01 dB << that would be easy to detect imho
- <prunedtree> because you'd only have < 2^16 different sample values
- <prunedtree> it's kinda like changing contrast on a 8-bit image stored in 16-bit, the histograms still look very shitty
- <junh1024-XD> oh, like gaps?
- <prunedtree> right
- Conclustion: zo you can apparently detect 16 gain-modified to 24bit using amplitude histograms. I have two implementations: Audition CS5.5 & Izotope tools. But i haven't tried it out yet.
