- Ravenloft in Barovia (203)
- 62108
- This room is adorned only with bare necessities. There is a bed, a small desk, and a pile of straw
- that vaguely resembles a nest. The ceiling is domed and is actually a large skylight of stained
- glass. The glass is broken into many panes and each one depict a different stage of the transition
- from man to bird and back under the light of a full moon.
- Pagoda of Enlightenment (390)
- 132558
- The path has switched from white sand to large chips of wood. Lush green shrubs adorn the path,
- each with a different color flower blossoming in the rays of the sunlight or glow of moonlight.
- Beyond the shrubs are pools of almost crystal clear waters. Fountains spring up from the center of
- each of the five water gardens, each boasting its own attraction. Lanterns adorn posts throughout
- the gardens to provide a dim light in the evening.
- Pagoda of Enlightenment (390)
- 132683
- A throne takes up almost the entire hallway. It sits atop a golden fleece rug with a red and black
- dragon painted on it. The throne is a shrine to the diety of this hall. Next to the throne is an
- altar, made of brass and gold with embellishments of semi-precious gems mined from different
- continents. Three components make up the altar: an elephant, a lotus blossom, and the moon.
- Enea's Temple (147)
- 43002
- An ample walkway runs north and south through forested land. Sunlight shines through the foliage
- during the day. At night, when there is a full moon, the leaves on the trees take on a bluish tint.
- Animals call to each other through the stillness regardless of the time of day. The trail is twelve
- feet wide and made of hard-packed sand, but the forest floor on either side is a softer almost bog-
- like material. A grass hut straddles the walkway in the north. Its appearance is incongruous from
- this angle, as there doesn't appear to be any grass around here.

- Enea's Temple (147)
- 43004
- Fallen leaves blanket the rich, loamy soil underneath. Moisture condensing on the vegetation
- glitters in the moonlight as it collects each night, and helps cool the space during the day. The
- haunting melodies of an expertly played viola fill the air. The sweet scents of jasmine,
- lavender and bergamot gently massage the mind.
- Enea's Temple (147)
- 43019
- The haunting tones of a beautifully played viola carry on the wind and neatly fill the space
- between the myriad trees. Moss, mushrooms, and ferns, grow between the fallen leaves and pine
- needles that blanket the forest floor. A trail of sand and gravel runs east and west, neatly
- bisecting the space between two rows of trees. Daylight is turned dark green by the abundant
- foliage, while what little moonlight filters through the trees at night only makes the area seem
- calm and inviting.
- Dark Tiger Glen (519)
- 133746
- A very small and filthy hut is filled with a strange moon-like light that is pleasant for the eyes.
- Skulls linked into a chain hang from the low ceiling to the messy floor. Amongst the dirt and
- rubble on the floor it is possible to see mysterious words etched on it. The only evident exit from
- the messy shack is to the west where the trees seem to allow the passage.
- Port of the Crescent Moon (345)
- 72102
- The shops lining the town square give way to an enormous tavern to the north. Its shadow engulfs
- the marketplace, providing relief for the local merchants from the midday sun. Above the front door
- of the tavern hangs a rickety sign adorned with a painted half-moon. The paint on the sign has
- faded to a dingy yellow and the hinges have started to rust. In contrast to this neglect, the front
- door of the tavern is sturdy and relatively new. Under the shade of the infamous Crescent Moon
- Tavern, the town square spreads out towards the southwest.
- Port of the Crescent Moon (345)
- 72106
- Only a few merchant shops are located in the southwestern corner of the market square. The
- cobblestone plaza is instead dominated by an enormous fountain commemorating the cycle of the moon.
- The thrum of continuous chatter from the bazaar is drowned out by the gurgling of water from the
- mouth of the fountain. The cobblestone square continues to the north and east, while the market
- ends abruptly to the west and south to meet the office of the local authorities and the town hall.
- Valkyre Guilds (178)
- 51208
- Four large wooden tables are crammed into this modest-sized dining area. Benches that side the
- tables are chipped and splintered. During the day, windows on three walls are opened to allow the
- fresh forest air to rush in. Small mirrors that are brought in at night are strategically placed
- throughout the room to reflect the moonlight. Another room in the cottage lies west.
- Temple of Luna (259)
- 81957
- A wooden door bearing the symbol of Luna the moon goddess stands to the north. Sconces hold
- flickering torches on opposite sides of the passage. Carved in the door is a prayer to Luna for
- blessing.
- Temple of Luna (259)
- 81902
- A mirror-like continuous obsidian wall forms a hemispherical tunnel which extends north and south.
- A faint white light from within the wall illuminates everything clearly. Within the wall are
- varying phases of the moon from waxing crescent to waning, with the full moon in the center and a
- new moon at either end. An intersection of passages lies to the south and an open path lies to the
- north.
- Temple of Luna (259)
- 81901
- A perpetual night sky hangs above. Ample light is provided by countless tiny, yet brilliant stars
- and a full moon seemingly fixed in position above an enormous temple to the south. The air is still
- and cool, fragrant with the scent of lichens and toadstools, sprouting from and covering stones and
- deadwood beyond the border of the path. Wrought iron gates stand to the north and a hemispherical
- tunnel enters a wall of obsidian to the south.
- Temple of Luna (259)
- 81966
- A shrine resides at the north end of this small dark room. Constructed of black basalt, obsidian
- and other black minerals, it is an arrangement of rectangular blocks each on inset with a mother of
- pearl lunar phase. The new moon, is to the middle with crescents expanding to a full moon to either
- side. A small dish set with smoking incense cones rests atop each. Above and to the rear is a black
- marble column with a simple black metal candle holder, sans candle.
- Temple of Luna (259)
- 81964
- A portrait painting of Luna, goddess of the moon, lighting the way for a daring midnight attack
- hangs upon the wall over a simple wooden desk. To the rear of the room stands a wooden cot with a
- footlocker at the end. A thin plume of smoke drifts up from burning incense on the right side of
- the desk.
- Temple of Luna (259)
- 81922
- Sandalwood incense smolders in clay bowls on either side of a straw mat in the center of a small
- room. Small tapestries of Luna, the goddess of the moon, depict her watching over her followers as
- they live or die and descend into the underworld. The ambiance is peaceful and pleasant.
- Temple of Luna (259)
- 81932
- Large blocks of dark sandstone form the north and east walls. A single, huge slab of red granite
- fills a broad stone arch to the south. Sconces fashioned to resemble pairs of intertwined wyrms
- support softly glowing white spheres between their foreclaws. Each block forming the arch has been
- engraved with a phase of the moon, with the center block bearing an arcane sigil with the outline
- of a human palm in the middle.
- Darken Wood (182)
- 52161
- Enormous trees - pines, oaks, maples, eucalypti - form a forest like yet unlike any other forest
- in Sloth. The trees are mighty, majestic, of a deep, rich green slightly tinged with gold. They
- tower, they soar. Through them creeps a breeze of fantastic and lovely fragrance. The grass among
- the trees is of a very, very bright green, and the fantastic trills of a thousand birds fill the
- air with a charming melody. The shadows in the wood do not appear to conceal dangers; they
- mischievously mingle with light. They flow and play with sun by day, and dance with moon by night.
- Darken Wood (182)
- 52118
- Only sprinkles of silver moonlight fall through the canopy of great vallenwood trees and break
- upon the dark forest floor. They are hardly enough to see by. Actually, they magnify the darkness,
- granting it a mysterious, otherworldly quality. The air smells of hot sweat and anger, of spilled
- blood and fear. The leaves that cover the forest floor are of a deep red color, considerably bright
- as of fresh arterial blood. In the distance to the west, a clearing among the trees can be glimpsed.
- Darken Wood (182)
- 52120
- In the forest between a shadow-occluded glade and a ring of glowing stones stands a stella of
- obsidian stone, and it bears the sign of the Hourglass on its top. The sides of the stella are
- etched with unreal, impossible images of things no mortal man has seen. A place where fluxes of
- power meet and weave into the nexus of a net, it draws more energy than it can safely channel. It
- rises into the dark sky, to meet the six stars shining with a cold, empty light. The very earth
- seems to shudder and shake where the stella stands anchoring the net of magic. And still it fights
- to attract and gather more energy, be it life-force or mana, the battle cry of a hunter or the
- death cry of a hunted stag, laughter or grief, moonlight or starlight...
- Tiger Glen (66)
- 19046
- A very small and filthy hut is filled with a strange moon-like light that is pleasant for the
- eyes. Skulls linked into a chain hang from the low ceiling to the messy floor. Amongst the dirt
- and rubble on the floor it is possible to see mysterious words etched on it. The only evident
- exit from the messy shack is to the east where the trees seem to allow the passage.
- The Heliopolis (441)
- 80509
- A grand, circular chamber is bordered by a wall of white marble to the north and west with shining,
- white marble blocks dominated by a large, ornate mirror in the center of the wall. The entire
- expanse of the room along the east and south edge is open to the air outside the Heliopolis, and a
- large open circle in the dome of the room allows for the sun to shine onto the nearly-reflective,
- polished tile. An extravagant mosaic of the cycles of the sun and moon are set into the center of
- the room along the floor in a circular patttern where, in the center, is set a tall pedestal with a
- great glowing orb in the top. Air blows freely into the huge chamber from the outside, continually
- refreshing the area with the sweet aroma of flowers and soft chirps of happy little birds.
- The Heliopolis (441)
- 80516
- A large opening the ceiling of the circular room is angled with a mirrored-edge to reflect light
- into the room from the east. The room is somewhat brighter than the hallway outside, and a thin
- haze of incense hangs in the air. Trinkets of finery lay about the room - from goblets to bracelets,
- and small piles of gold coin that lay in heaps about the room and spilling off on to the floor.
- Great tapestries of luxurious silk woven with scenes of glory and myth flow down the sides of the
- walls to either side, displaying tales of greatness and victory - each decorated with images of the
- sun and moon.
- The Heliopolis (441)
- 80521
- A shadow drapes itself across the floor of the hallway just to the north edge as a serpate
- corridor opens in the north wall. A large tapestry of red bears the large image of a woven half-
- moon rising above the horizon as the sun appears to dip below the same horizon. A red carpet
- travels along the center of the hall to the east and south where a faint noise not unlike a roaring
- fire can just barely be heard.
- The Heliopolis (441)
- 80526
- A soft blue light beams downward through the center of the tower, and on to the wide floor of the
- first level where a series of runes and sigils have been painted onto the smooth stone floor. A
- winding wooden stair runs upwards along the outer edge of the room and into the upper reaches of
- the tower. A wide mural of the moon and sun enaged in a vibrant dance of cycles spans around the
- room upon the walls, and four large pyres burning with incense crackle and pop with softly glowing
- flames of blue, green, yellow, and white.
- The Heliopolis (441)
- 80531
- Muffled voices echo through the halls of the Heliopolis, bringing with them the wispy traces of
- sweet-smelling incense. An open skylight above bathes the area in warm, golden sunlight, reflecting
- off the sheer-white marble of the walls and floor. Blue tapestries with golden thread at the ends
- hang upon the north wall, and is woven with thin silver threads that make out the outline of a moon
- transposed upon the face of the sun.
- Siren's Rock (197)
- 60002
- The beach is comprised of brilliant white sand with golden specks scattered throughout. Depending
- on the time of day, either sunlight or moonlight play upon the gold, making the beach resemble a
- magically enhanced treasure. Water laps methodically at the shoreline toward the south, wetting the
- entire beach at high tide but leaving the sand untouched during low tide.
- Irapuete (222)
- 69161
- Tall stalks of corn rise from the rich black soil here, whipping slowly back and forth through the
- air. The corn is bunched so close together that all directions become confused; the only hint as to
- the compass points comes from the direction of the sun and moon. Somewhere off in the distance the
- sound of deep voices in conversation can be heard.
- Undead Burial Grounds (117)
- 34966
- Clay statues and various ancient relics rest atop the freshly laid grave. A paulownian wood cross
- juts up from the ground at the top of the twelve foot long bed of black sand. The moonless sky is
- pitch black, void of the many beautiful stars that these lands are known for. The faint sound of
- footsteps can be heard, although it is impossible to tell from which direction they originate.
- Dark Valkyre Guilds (534)
- 135708
- Four large wooden tables are crammed into this modest-sized dining area. Benches that side the
- tables are chipped and splintered. During the day, windows on three walls are opened to allow the
- fresh forest air to rush in. Small mirrors that are brought in at night are strategically placed
- throughout the room to reflect the moonlight. Another room in the cottage lies east.
- Temple of Neptune (241)
- 73039
- The glory of Neptune is manifested here as the ginormous idol in solid white marble. The immense
- statue radiates a frosty white aura as if the god himself is standing before his subjects. Gold
- bands are wrapped around the base of the image of Neptune, and an equally impressive altar stands
- regally at the front on the floor before the statue upon which rests a stone tablet. The dome above
- the main temple area is painted with a heavenly image of Neptune, and his creation of the waters,
- the sea, and all life within those borders. A hole in the dome allows for both sunlight and
- moonlight to bathe the idol.
- Tower of Nexialism (56)
- 14996
- The trees stand so densely as to prevent movement in any direction but west. Shadows cast as by
- dispersed moonlight school lazily amongst the many trees of the forest. Otherworldly things appear
- to stir and stretch amid them. Mists creep this way and that through the woods, heavy with odors
- foul and sweet. A particularly dark shadow seems to lie over the north- western section of the
- forest, as if cast by a tall, thin structure.
- Four Towers Arena (173)
- 49414
- Scuffed Metal rungs embedded in the wall, provide a way up to a hole in the ceiling. The hole in
- the ceiling has been carved in the shape of a half moon. On the opposite side of this chamber, a
- massive fireplace is set into the wall with a chimney leading outside. A crackling fire fills the
- room with heat.
- The Island (17)
- 7064
- Spreading off into all directions is a barren moonscope of solidified lava flows and mounds of
- volcanic ash. Protruding from the valley trail is a great number of ocher, red, and black tree
- trunks, petrified and seemingly charred. The air here is dry, and there are few signs of any
- vegetation. The trail continues to the north or west.
- Pagoda (108)
- 33463
- The room is circular with grey walls and a concave ceiling. Almost like a half-sphere, except for
- there is a distinctive point where the walls meet the ceiling. Hanging from the apogee of the
- ceiling is a glowing sphere that lights the area in a ghastly silver-blue color. Against the east
- wall is dull black shrine almost like a fireplace halfway up the wall. Inside of the shrine is a
- small spinning moon hovering in place. Set against the north wall is a glowing torii standing ten
- feet tall.
- Mana Pools (274)
- 86032
- Quicksilver walls undulate like a giant bubble and glow like moonlight, lighting an intersection
- of two tunnels full of wispy magical energy. Space and time are noticeably distorted at
- intermittent intervals. The tunnels bend away, and around the curves your reflection can be seen in
- the quicksilver.
- Mana Pools (274)
- 86037
- Around a bend to the east, the reflection of another tunnel branching from this one undulates
- slowly on the wall. Eerie moonlight emanates from the tunnels surface. The semi-weightlessness
- provided by the mana and the constantly shifting floor underfoot make walking a dream-like
- experience.
- The Spire of Good and Evil (327)
- 37456
- A flat boulder, encircled by sand, has candles stuck to its surface in various stages of
- meltedness. Beside it is a simple doorless shelter with a wooden bench. Tucked away close to the
- spire's core is another small house with a moon and star cut into the door as some kind of special
- designation. The altitude here is high above the sky valley canyon with the port of Lyme visible to
- the southwest and the great Lymean volcano stands to the south streaming black smoke.
- Ruins of Old Thalos (512)
- 74614
- The western half of the central portion of Thalos's open market venue is graced with a now-cracked,
- but beautifully appointed, wheel-shaped mosaic of a smiling crescent moon face, opposing a similar
- sun-face in the eastern half. The mosaic's are almost otherwise perfectly intact compared to the
- surrounding mess of rubble lining the square, which is mostly clear of obstacles. A thin layer of
- pale ash, comprised no doubt of the charred bones of Thalos's mercantile inhabitants, sits atop the
- bright purples, greys, and violets of the mosaic tiles. The square is bordered by the western city
- wall to the west, and to the south by the ruined meat merchant's stall. Beyond the stall about
- fifty meters to the south, rises the southwestern guard tower.
- Ruins of Old Thalos (512)
- 74615
- Intact, well-made stone benches lining the edges of the eastern half of the central market square
- of Thalos mark an almost comic contrast to the devastation elsewhere in the city. Bright yellow and
- black stone tiling are rigidly and well formed, making up the bulk of the open area. In the center,
- an impressive circular mosaic of a smiling sun-face opposes the matching, moon-faced mosaic in the
- west-half of the square. A number of carven obsidian statues of Thalassan fauna alternate with the
- benches along the perimeter. To the south behind the benches lie the ruins of Thalos's produce
- store, and to the north are the remains of the city bank.
- Temple of Mnemosyne (481)
- 42561
- A wide set of three windows brings starlight in from the west as a gigantic moon drifts across the
- scene shining pale light upon the immediate area. A shiny brass telescope stands in the center of
- the area pointed at the star-filled sky, bearing a tiny inscription near its eyepiece. Dark shadows
- overtake the edges and corners of the gray-white walls of plaster as a dangling string of costume
- jewlry glitters and paints the alcove with colors of flickering red, blue, and green.
- The Crypt (248)
- 78059
- A small spec of light resembling a moon in a starless sky stares down from above. The ladder is
- hard to grasp due to trace amounts of slippery slime on several rungs. Immediately downwards, the
- ground can be seen.
- Plane of Smoke (488)
- 25290
- Te environment takes upon a quicker moving mass of dark smoke and and eerie, translucent gray
- color. The mass moves like a strange glittering fluid, waving like the tops of storm clouds in the
- night illuminated by the bright moon above. The toxic nature of the plane of smoke subsides in part
- with the introduction of the abyssinian influences, and the heat of the bordering planes gives way
- to the icy death that can be found emanating from the Abyss below.
- Plane of Smoke (488)
- 25294
- As if a huge astral whale burst out of the smoke, a large arm of smoke and abyssal energy bursts
- through the plane blocking the light of the moon and stars above, causing shadow once again to fill
- the area. The mixtures not only choke the light, but choke the breath of all lower creatures. The
- daemonic energies of the undead leand a most unhelpful set of hands to the planar travelers,
- drawing them closer to death and madness.
- Plane of Smoke (488)
- 25293
- An eerie moon shines above everything here with brilliant white light, bathing the tops of the
- smoke and energy masses with its beauty. The air is deathly cold unlike the rest of the plane, and
- seems to whisper infinite torments and reminders that death is near. The plane of smoke as it
- borders the Abyss is a desert reserved for abyssal fliers and extraplanar beings, gods and devils
- placing the universes pieces in place like a great puzzle unbeknownst to mortals.
- Valley of R'Lyeh (132)
- 39512
- Ivory statues depicting the ritual of the moon stand in the center of this room. A small table
- with a wooden chair next to it is piled high with papers and scrolls. The flag of Cthulhu has been
- hung on the eastern wall and a small window watches the comings and goings on the street beyond the
- high stone wall that surrounds the courtyard of the building.
- Castle Black (206)
- 65072
- This room appears to be the honeymoon suite of the guest wing. The bed is huge, and there is a
- chair and a dresser with a mirror on each side of the room. A pink curtained window in the south
- wall is shuttered against someone flying up from the courtyard and peeking in.
- Saurian Frontier (446)
- 73508
- The side of the mountain is covered in a precarious, but passable arrangement of stone leading
- higher towards a rocky precipice a few meters above. The odor of water and the sounds of it running
- can be heard from below the rocks somewhere, but no moisture can be felt to the touch while
- climbing the rocks. The wind picks up as travel continues higher and forces itself along the side
- of the mountain, as the mist hanging in the air swirls about causing odd effects in the moonlight.
- Saurian Frontier (446)
- 73516
- The rocky pathway splits into two separate paths traveling north and south into other canyons
- stemming from this larger one, and disappearing into the chalky environment spotted with small
- scrub. The lack of vegetation provides no shelter from the sun shining above. When the moon shines
- at night, the entire canyon shines white with the minor reflection of the white light from above,
- creating a ghostly aura about the place.
- Saurian Frontier (446)
- 73486
- A large mountain covered with green grasses and small, frail trees rises from the ancient
- landscape to the northeast, and casts a shadow across the land as the sun and moon moves across the
- sky. Rocks of varying sizes have settled at the base of the mountain, and fan out over the ground
- here covering the ground. Ominous screeches and roars echo through the environment from several
- directions warning of the creatures that roam the frontier, sharing tales of misery and delight
- equally.
- Planar Nexus (493)
- 25600
- A wide area with rubble rounding the edges of a flat, red sand is dominated by a huge black,
- shining monolith of what appears to be onyx. As the alien moons revolve around the sky, the shadow
- of the great structure swivels like the shadow of a great sun dial. The sky is forever dark,
- spotted by thousands of tiny points of light varying in hue from white to dark purple, each
- twinkling with their own regularity like the facets of a wondrous gem. Footprints of all types mark
- the soft, dry sand, and lead into all directions, as they disappear into the alien landscape.
- The Argosian Wreckage (443)
- 73232
- Standing atop the forecastle gives a better view of the surrounding island's bay, and is now
- verily visible that the bay is shaped in a half moon sort of orientation opening to the northeast
- about six hundred yards behind the rolling tide. In the distance, a large marlin jumps into the air
- with a trail of water rising behind its body before it plunges back into the ocean's depths. As the
- deck of the forecastle tosses from side to side with the rushing tide, water collected from the
- ocean spray spills over onto the main deck.
- The Argosian Wreckage (443)
- 73200
- The weight of the dock above is held by two massive poles covered in barnacles, and extending
- downward into the shallow sand of the bay. A warm, lazy current sweeps the water in a counter-
- clockwise manner around the circumference of the area, and small schools of brightly covered fish
- can be seen darting back and forth as if they are slaloming the rays of light piercing the surface.
- The water is bright blue, and easily penetrated by the bright light of both the sun and moon
- equally, and the air is misty with the rising water droplets on the horizon from the tropical heat.
- Ch'ung Kuo (107)
- 33036
- The first noticeable feature of this hut is the floor. It is covered in black tiles with white
- tiles inlaid to create a picture of a quarter-moon. A silk painting is hanging on the wall over the
- majestic brass bed. Next to the door there is a silver stand cupping a half-moon shaped bowl.
- Ch'ung Kuo (107)
- 33185
- Yellow walls and a bright red carpet light up this lively and well decorated room. On the east
- side of the room a large oak bed with silk sheets rests against the wall. A picture hangs on the
- wall above the bed. At the foot of the bed there is an empty quiver and a sturdy wooden chest.
- Framed medals of gold and silver hang on the north wall in an impressive display of honor. Next to
- the door there is a silver stand cupping a half-moon shaped bowl.
- Ch'ung Kuo (107)
- 33169
- The front hall of Emperor Yao's palace is filled with sculptures and paintings of the moon. The
- hall has a dull gray tile floor and ocean blue walls. Pictures drawn on the walls with infinite
- detail illustrate the moons affect on the ocean tides. A large terracotta statue of a beautiful
- woman holding her right arm above her head stands in the middle of the hall. A glass case against
- the wall holds a precious pearl resting on a black silk pillow. To the north, a large oak door
- leads outside the palace. An exit to the east leads to a brightly lit hall.
- The Web of Lolth (391)
- 132010
- A vast expanse of glossy obsidian serves as the floor of this immense chamber. A thick white dust
- slowly filters from above as the room occasionally shakes and shivers. Suspended upside down from
- the ceiling, a few small and decrepit branches shrink into the chalky cloud and shadowed darkness.
- A man-sized statue stands on its head in the center of the room. On the north side of the statue is
- an image of a burning sun while a portrait of the moon opposes it from the south. There are no
- visible exits from this lair.
- Lothlorien (375)
- 49829
- Tall trees tower over smaller Malorn and Evergreens. Large roots which are coated with a thin
- layer of moisture, and are hidden under a light mist, make travel slippery. Sunlight beams through
- the leaves on the branches overhead and reflects off the moist ground. The forest glitters in
- daylight and sparkles in moonlight. A trail leads west and south.
- The Rainbow Valley (374)
- 73115
- A new set of gates seems to have been erected at this spot marking the southern entrance to the
- Galavan community. The rounded archway stands about twenty feet high, and strange runes are
- engraved in the half-moon sign made of wood and banded with iron. The smell of the gates gives the
- indication that the structure has been built very recently, and it's dark stain still glistens in
- the sky's light. The cityscape stops completely at this point, and the savanna opens to the south
- signifying the demise of the stone roadway leading into the town.
- The Rainbow Valley (374)
- 73174
- The odd odor of burning incense has found its way into this area, and mixes with the heavy air of
- the sewage that flows through the tunnels below the Galavan town above. The darkness of the tunnels
- blankets the area, extinguishing any and all chance light that comes into the tunnels from
- elsewhere. Only the man-made light can pierce the darkness, by torch or by lantern, but the sun and
- moon have been given no quarter equally by the evil darkness that covers the aqueducts.
- Opera Symphonia (440)
- 19339
- Constellations of crystal dust wink in and out of existence in the faux night backcloth. A faintly
- glowing conjured moon hangs suspended in the air, adding a sense of depth to the artificial
- firmament. In the wing to the west of the stage are three vertical curtains that obscure the
- backstage from the audience. Small footlights disguised as seashells line the apron of the stage.
- In front of the proscenium are several low steps descending to the main auditorium.
- Valley of the Mage (44)
- 13320
- The smell at the top of the stairs is highly acrid. A shelf full of vials rests against a wall
- that is coated with a rainbow of stains. The western wall is covered with paintings depicting the
- moon in various stages, surrounded by figures representing the major constellations.
- The Lost Cross (152)
- 44306
- Overhead, the night sky is dismal and starless. A pink moon hangs off the edge of the eastern
- horizon. The ground is blackened sand, which is coarse and blows past swiftly with each gust of
- wind. Sulfur taints the air, and the smell of blood and death is almost overwhelming. Upon the
- ground, a large six-foot circle lies drawn out upon the ground. Closer inspection reveals it to be
- a huge pentagram formed in blood, surrounded by many intricate runes and sigils. Five large candles
- burn in the center of the circle. A small white china teacup of blood rests in the center with a
- small match laying at its side.
- The Moon Temple (119)
- 35238
- The circular tower wall stretches up toward the heavens. A detailed map of the craters of the
- lesser moon is in the center of the floor. The pale silvery light telescopes down the shaft of the
- tower, reflecting figures of light across the map in the floor. A stairway spirals around the
- interior of the wall.
- The Moon Temple (119)
- 35237
- Stretching far out of sight above, an exquisite tower of pale marble dominates the southern area.
- It seems to have been made from a single piece of marble and refined to a near mirror finish.
- Reflecting moonlight cascades the effect on to the neighboring structures and bathes the entire
- area in a silvery glow.
- The Moon Temple (119)
- 35241
- On the west wall, a tapestry shows a man in silver robes and a woman in crimson robes arguing with
- each other. They both point to a pale waning crescent moon hanging in the sky above. The tapestry
- has an elaborate border of embroidered stars and planets. A door stands in the east wall while the
- stairs spiral up and down.
- The Moon Temple (119)
- 35245
- A wise man surrounded by a nimbus of silver mystical energy looks down from the stained glass
- window covering the ceiling. He watches with a slight smile as smaller figures commence with ritual
- preparations. Shafts of moonlight coming through the window splinter, giving an ethereal feeling to
- the room as shadows and light twirl about each other upon the walls. The stairway stops at a door
- hovering in the center of a shining portal.
- The Moon Temple (119)
- 35252
- The night sky rotates slowly across the doomed ceiling of the chamber. The walls and floor of the
- chamber are pitch black, creating the impression of walking on nothingness. Above, the moon circles
- in orbit around an elegant silver altar that rests in the center of the chamber like a planet in
- the vast sky. No single sound echoes in the placid chamber, and the only light is a faint bluish
- illumination that radiates from the altar.
- The Moon Temple (119)
- 35253
- The full moon blazes brightly in the reflection of the sun's rays. Millions of miles below, the
- bright blue pearl that is Jared rests on a soft cushion of clouds as it floats through the empty
- space. A soft breeze blows through the nexus, but carries with it no smells or sounds. Absolute
- silence spreads across the expansive, star-filled sky.
- The Moon Temple (119)
- 35204
- Directly to the south is a large marble building with thick pink-hued marble pillars spaced evenly
- along the front wall. Above the archway is a pink gold waxing crescent moon symbol. The central
- dais lies to the east and behind it an immense tower of rose marble rises.
- The Moon Temple (119)
- 35212
- A massive tower of rose marble dominates the southern area, stretching to reach the clouds. It
- seems to have been hewn out of a single piece of red marble and polished to a near-mirror finish.
- The moonlight reflects off of it cascading the effect onto the surrounding structures and bathing
- the entire area in a pink glow.
- The Moon Temple (119)
- 35213
- The encompassing circular wall of the tower stretches up toward heaven. In the center of the floor
- is a detailed tile mosaic of Jord and her two moons. Pale pink light telescopes down the shaft of
- the tower dancing across the floor. Limestone steps spiral upward.
- The Moon Temple (119)
- 35216
- A tapestry hanging on the east wall pictures a woman in pale pink robes feuding with a man dressed
- in white. A waxing crescent moon with a red tint passes in the sky above their heads and both
- figures point to it. The spiral stairway winds clockwise up and down and a door provides access to
- a western room.
- The Moon Temple (119)
- 35220
- The ceiling consists of a huge stained glass window showing a saintly woman surrounded by a halo
- of pale pink light. She looks on benevolently as smaller figures kneel around her in prayer. The
- glass fractures the moonlight creating an otherworldly scene as light shifts and moves along the
- walls. The stairs end at a glowing portal floating to the east.
- The Moon Temple (119)
- 35229
- A large marble building with thick pallid marble pillars spaced evenly along the front wall is
- directly to the south. A symbol of a white gold waning crescent moon sits above the archway. To the
- west lies the central dais and behind it an immense tower of white marble rises.
- The Ebony Tower (211)
- 66203
- The forest is dark, its cover of thick needles impenetrable to sun or moonlight. This deters
- undergrowth most effectively, there are only a few brushes and those are ugly and thorny. Your
- light reveals grey treetrunks, holding crowns of a green so dark to seem black, a few grey rocks,
- thorny grey bushes, brown fallen needles.
- The Raven's Roost Inn (328)
- 37345
- A large, soft bed with an ornate silver and gold frame has been wedged into the southwest corner,
- and rests against the edge of a set of colonial blue curtains that span all the way to the east
- wall. Peering from behind the large, heavy curtains are several obscured shelves that appear to
- house books and trinkets of special interest. A skylight opens to the Thalassian moonlight above
- the inn, and bathes a stark white animal fur that covers a large portion of the gray stone floor.
- High Plains (100)
- 30818
- A large volcanic cone rises sharply to the east, peaking in a wide smoky crater. Far to the south
- the moons of Jord sail over the great southern ocean. The dry brown grass of the high plain stretch
- out to the west and north.
- High Plains (100)
- 30819
- An ocean vista spans the southern horizon. Jord's two irregular moons along with it's sun create
- an ever changing skyscape over the southern ocean. Warm arm drafts upward along the cliff face.
- High Plains (100)
- 30817
- The sky is a wide expanse that extends in all directions. Jord's two moons cross paths against the
- southern sky. Down below on solid ground, large slow moving, shaggy mammals ammble around grazing.
- High Plains (100)
- 30801
- The top of the high plain is visible just above this vantage. Hiding in the shadow of the tall
- plateau are a number of smaller outcrops and beyond that a few fertile valleys. The area appears to
- be well inhabited by some sort of humanoids. Spanning across the southern horizon is the Great
- Southern Ocean. The moons of Jord are visible crossing thru the southern skyline at opposite
- trajectories to one another. A warm updraft of salty ocean air flows vertically upward parallel to
- the hard granite cliff to the north.
- High Plains (100)
- 30815
- The moons of Jord crisscross across the late day sky. The high plain of Thordfalan is the
- penultimate vantage from which to view the continent that spans out to the north and west. The
- great southern ocean, cold, blue, and deadly. Far on the edge of the southern horizon there is what
- appears to be a shoreline.
- Tomb of The Forever King (124)
- 37235
- A huge, cold ash filled firepit stands in the center of this large circular chamber. A wrought-
- iron spit and several slowly disintegrating logs lie around the base of the pit. Broken wooden work
- tables line the walls, fitted with one half-moon shaped side that allows them to fit the contours
- of the room. Rusted knives and other abandoned cooking utensils are scattered about the room,
- making walking treacherous. Wide darkened portals exit this room to the north, south and east.
- Kingdom of Jrontauq (33)
- 11186
- Enclosed by large branches and many smaller limbs, this area remains separated from the rest of
- the kingdom. Numerous vines seal every tiny crack in the walls, inside this web of nature. A beam
- of moon or sunlight illuminates this pocket of tangled branches through a small entrance on the
- north.
- Kara'sa (286)
- 91028
- Delicate cribs of carved moonstone stand empty at the far end of this small room. Dainty mobiles
- of stars and planets, made of precious gems, twirl melodically in a slight breeze that gusts from
- an unseen source. The faded carpet is patterned in a colorful design that shows two young children
- playing in a forest. Tiny, delicate playthings lie scattered haphazardly on the floor, as if they
- were suddenly left behind.
- Temple of the Sun (254)
- 80021
- A large chamber opens into a circular room with a huge skylight in the center of a large, patially
- darkened dome. Spanning the inside of the dome are scenes of an anthropomorphic sun smiling and
- drifting across the sky, shadowed by a glimps of the moon as it rises or falls below the horizon.
- Great warriors riding flaming chariots appear throughout the scene, along the walls and dome. The
- room is quite warm as the sun blasts through the skylight, reflecting from shining plates of bronze
- and gold set into the walls and floor. A large semi-circular archway, ornately decorated as the sun
- itself opens to the east.
- Lycanthropia (95)
- 30012
- You are walking along a dark alley south of the manor of Lycan'thropia. It runs north and south.
- The cloudless sky is a velvety gray, uniform and unbroken by sun, moon or stars. The unnatural
- color has to be the product of very powerful sorcery.
- Palace of Thalassas (126)
- 38113
- The walls are decorated with mosaics that depict the twelve zodiacal signs; the mosaic on the
- floor shows the phases of the moon. Lead glass in a colored skylight forms the symbols of the sun
- and the seven planets. The hallway turns north and west and there is a doorway on the eastern wall.
- Palace of Thalassas (126)
- 38019
- The hallway heads north and south. There is a door of lead glass east. It shows a rainy day, with
- strands of bright ivy framing grey skies. To the west there is a stairwell, an iron rail decorated
- with climbing vines protects passerbys from what could be a nasty fall. The floor is made of marble.
- A frame of black marble surrounds a great red slab, apparently seamless, which contains several
- symbols of the moon in cream marble.
- Palace of Thalassas (126)
- 38020
- The four walls are glass doors, protected by wrought iron railings. The railings simulate twining
- vines, and the four doors are different but similar. The eastern door shows sunflowers, dew shining
- on their petals; the southern Dondiegos-by-day, and a bright sun; the western shows ivy in a rainy
- day; on the northern door the moon illuminates the climbing creepers of the Dondiegos-by-night. The
- well continues up and downward from this point.
- Palace of Thalassas (126)
- 38005
- Multicolored slabs of marble have been used to decorate the floor with geometrical designs. It
- this particular spot they form a white sun on a white background, surrounded by the four phases of
- the moon. An aromatic torch has been placed on the western wall. It gives off a pleasant odor, not
- too heavy, just a suggestion of summer gardens and lime.
- Rita's Temple (54)
- 14807
- It's a small room, comforting in its own plain way. The walls are composed of wooden planks. It
- smells of fresh pine pitch on a hot summer day, and of dry leaves on a windy autumn day, and of
- ginseng. On a pedestal of gold, upon a plate of platinum, shielded by the most powerful sorceries
- the mortal sorcerers are able to conjure, lies the sacred relic of an age of dark perfection:
- Rita's diary. She used to keep it when she was young, mortal, and full of desires. It is highly
- doubtful she meant it to become a relic, much less a sacred relic, and least of all for public view
- -- but Greater Gods aren't supposed to complain about their worshippers' actions. Besides, she
- doesn't care. Other than the diary, this smallish room boasts nothing extraordinary. A structure
- that may serve as a ladder looks like it has been woven of moonlight, dew drops, and stars.
