  1. Demon: the Calling
  2.
  3. Demons are embodiments of human vice that exist “somewhere else” and can be summoned to the World of Darkness through rituals.
  4. Demons are defined by two traits: their sin and their name.
  5. A demon’s sin is the vice they embody and the source of their powers.
  6. A demon’s name is their identity and that which defines them as an individual being.
  7. Demons can always see the name, though not sin, of other demons.
  8. When summoned, a demon gains a vessel in addition to the above traits.
  9. A demon’s vessel is their physical body. While it is not real, and any parts removed from it will evaporate over time, it appears to be a real human body to non-magical examination.
  10. A demon can change their vessel freely within the range of human possibility. However, no matter how a demon changes themself, they will always be recognizable. This is because a demon’s name, and thus identity, is fixed. Even if the form changes, the identity remains the same.
  11. This quirk can be overcome with magical or non-magical disguises.
  12. In addition to the above quirk, a demon’s nature effective their vessel in another way. Demons have stigmas, alterations of their body outside of human possibility.
  13. All demons have the stigma of horns; other stigma depend on the demon in question.
  14. A demon may show some, all, or none of their stigma at their discretion. Demons can always see the stigma of other demons.
  15.
  16. A demon knows whenever their name is spoken. If a demon’s name is written down or recorded, the demon may replace their name with an “empty” one instead. An empty name is clearly a “name” but has no other details. Without careful scrutiny, it will simply be passed over as an unimportant “name”.
  17. These abilities extend to a demon’s image. If a demon’s image is captured, such as on film or by a security camera, the demon may replace their image with an “empty” one. An empty image is clearly a “person” but has no other details. Like an empty name, an empty image will be passed over unless particular attention is paid.
  18. These decisions must be made at the moment the name or image is recorded, and cannot be revoked.
  19.
  20.
  21.
  22. In addition to the standard attributes and skills possessed by all characters, demon characters have the following traits:
  23. Sin. A demon character’s power and supernatural tolerance trait. It is measured in dots from 1 to 10. In addition, a demon character’s sin describes their core vice. For example, a newly summoned demon of sloth would have Sin: Sloth 1.
  24. Nomen. A demon character’s integrity trait. It is measured in dots from 1 to 10.
  25. Malus. A demon character’s resource and willpower trait. It is measured in both temporary points amd permanent dots. As this trait does double duty, there are many ways to gain malus points.
  26.
  27. Demon character’s possess numerous special abilities divided between two categories:
  28. Maledictions. Active special abilities that usually cost malus.
  29. Stigmas. Passive physical abilities in the form of unusual physical features. All demons have the Horns stigma.
