  1. The charred human form began to lose its thickness, turning into a pile of
  2. dust. In the blink of an eye, the gusting winds had scattered the remains far
  3. and wide. This was the second case of the vampire infection. However,
  4. simply just because a person had turned into a vampire didn’t necessarily
  5. mean they would crumble like ash when true death claimed them. The
  6. degree of corruption their body manifested depended entirely on how long
  7. it’d been since they’d been made a servant of the Nobility.

  9. A person who’d spent three days in their service would leave a rotting corpse. Given two
  10. weeks, the flesh would melt from their bones. If more than a year had
  11. passed, then they might be reduced to dust. In death alone they would be
  12. bound by the same rules as the living. What’d just occurred to the corpse of
  13. this vampirized individual simply wasn’t possible. Or was this a case where
  14. his transformation into one of the Nobility had long been concealed?
  15. No, that wasn’t possible, either. This was an entirely new disease. Perhaps
  16. it should’ve been called Nobilitation Syndrome.
