my personal theory is that Kazuma is actually the true villain
he whispered stuff into the Doctor's ear while he was asleep
he gets locked in a shelter and does nothing for most of the plot
he basically just shows up on occasion

in the bad ending (where you go with Kazuma), he gets what he wants
he gets to watch the world burn
in the semi-good ending and really good ending, his plans are foiled, and he holds up his facade of being a good person

because now Misery and Balrog are keeping an eye on him(edited)
all he had to do was hide out in a shelter for a while, see if any dragon eggs were hatchable so he could get off the island,
and maybe bring Quote with him because he knew Quote was a troublemaker

in the good ending
In the bad ending, he gets away and watches the world burn
sue not included
his actions in the bad ending, where he doesn't have to keep up his facade: he abandons Sue(edited)
and his mother, and anyone else
Quote goes with him so Quote can't cause any trouble
