- When they got north of the Ocean of Mist, a man called out from the shore and joined them in their travels. He said his name was Red-Moustache. He was one eyed; he wore a blue-flecked hooded cape, buttoned all the way down to his feet. Jostein the priest did not like him. Red-Moustache preached heathendom and ancient magic to Gest's men and claimed it was best to sacrifice for their good fortune. One day, when Red-Moustache was preaching these empty beliefs to them, the priest became angry, grabbed a crucifix and hit Red-Moustache on the head with it. He plunged overboard and never came up again. Then they felt sure that had been Odin. Gest took little notice of the priest.
