Final exam date

Now that the end of the semester is getting near, it is time to make my periodic statement about the final exam schedule.

The final exam will be held in our current classroom; I will tell you that much.

However, the date and time of the final exam has purposely not been given in the syllabus. That is because it is my policy that it is each student's responsibility to look it up for him/herself on the University's webpage devoted to Final Exam schedules. (I'm not even going to provide a link; you can find it yourself. But make sure you've got the right semester!) Read the instructions given on that page carefully for how to interpret the table; it may not be what you'd expect.

It is also your responsibility not to provide this date and time to anyone who asks you for it. Instead, tell them that they have to look it up themselves -- or your can refer them to this post. One corollary of this is that no one should post the final exam date and/or time here on Piazza. You will lose class credit by doing so.

The reason for this seemly strange policy is that it is surprising how often people are given the wrong information about final exams by someone else, even if they mean well. Many of my past students corroborated this by telling me of stories about friends who missed final exams because they were given the wrong information -- in one case by the course instructor himself! So, I refuse to give you this information and ask that you not give it to anyone else either. Thanks for your patience with my quirky policy :-).
