  1. DiscoDude: **---BEGIN SESSION---**
  2. DiscoDude: **Session logging commenced**
  3. GM: Alright, so it's the first round of clues, and Ryusui has the first move. (Docs are open, right?)
  4. Shadowhunt: Yes
  5. Pirrue: si senor
  6. Pirrue: clue: a window to a room on the 20th floor, not the victim's, was open directly above where the victim was found
  7. Shadowhunt: Clue: When Ebbot was first brought in for questioning, he set off a magic detector from several rooms over. Apperently subject to a rather malicious curse, a Beholding Siren forced residence in one of his eye sockets, for what ever reason.
  8. GM: (Uh...)
  9. Shadowhunt: (too crazy?)
  10. GM: (Maybe a little.)
  11. Shadowhunt: (yeah...ok)
  12. GM: (Try not to make clues too long-winded, BTW.)
  13. Shadowhunt: Clue: Ebbot, seemed to know the victim by name making no effort to conceal the fact.
  14. GM: (If it can be explained in one concise sentence, then odds are good that it doesn't tip over the crazy scale.)
  15. Shadowhunt: (Eh, the whole first bit was flavor text in the first attempt anyway... the point was supposed to be that the was a Siren making his life hard.)
  16. GM: Clue: Shia is staying in the room right above the body, on the 19th floor.
  17. GM: (Think right below the open 20th floor window.)
  18. GM: Alright; time to deduce!
  19. GM: (Admittedly, we don't have much to work with, to start out.)
  20. Shadowhunt: (maybe we should make two rounds of clues first?)"
  21. Pirrue: (yeah, i can see obvious deductions but they're kinda vague)
  22. Shadowhunt: (Or does everyone think the can mange a relevant deduction)
  23. GM: (I've got an interesting one, but it could be shot down if "you didn't specify" was an invalid defense against the obvious objection.)
  24. GM: (Do you guys each have one?)
  25. Shadowhunt: (I think I got something)
  26. Pirrue: (I sorta have one)
  27. Pirrue: Deduction: Shia was involved in the victim's death
  28. Pirrue: (that's all i gots)
  29. GM: (Based on what clues?)
  30. Shadowhunt: (The point is to make more fluff as we go...)
  31. Pirrue: (because of the proximity of his room to the likely place the victim fell from?)
  32. GM: (*her)
  33. Pirrue: (whoop)
  34. GM: <@Shadowhunt>?
  35. GM: <@Shadowhunt>: Poke poke.
  36. GM: Whoop, he's offline.
  37. Shadowhunt: Sorry, did you see the stuff in the doc chat?
  38. GM: There was a doc chat?
  39. Pirrue: yeah, there's a little chat in the doc
  40. Shadowhunt: ... yes, there is a button for a chat section in the doc
  41. Pirrue: his computer was acting up and he had to reboot
  42. Pirrue: (Caillou runs on an iPad; it may not be visible the way it is in Windows)
  43. GM: I can't see it. The doc looks unchanged.
  44. Pirrue: there's a chat thing on the doc
  45. Pirrue: not part of the actual text
  46. Shadowhunt: Ah, ok. But yeah, basicly Discorded D/Ced and wouldn't reconnect.
  47. GM: It's not in comments?
  48. GM: If not, then I don't know how to access it.
  49. Shadowhunt: Doesn't matter, you know what the issue was, and now I'm back
  50. GM: Alright. Your deduction?
  51. Shadowhunt: Deduction: Ebbot was more or less a friend of Tobias Grim.
  52. Shadowhunt: (or is that too minor?)
  53. GM: (Based on your clue this round, and what other clue?)
  54. Pirrue: i just realized only two clues go together
  55. Pirrue: i think maybe we can dismiss the "at least two clues" rule
  56. GM: But deductions involving more than one clue are harder to attack with your own.
  57. Shadowhunt: (Hmm... maybe we should have started with more clues then)
  58. GM: (Since you have to explain away *each* clue attached to it when you make a new deduction that threatens it.)
  59. Shadowhunt: (Three or two per person to start with then?)
  60. GM: (Maybe not, if we do it as Ryusui suggested.)
  61. Shadowhunt: (But you are right, just using one clue is kinda weak, and there are a limited number of interactions with only three starting clues
  62. Shadowhunt: (I think we should scrap the first deduction phase, and add two more clue phases before the first deduction)
  63. GM: (Something to consider for later, but for now, let's move on.)
  64. GM: (We'll see if this still works overall.)
  65. GM: Deduction: The broken glass on the victim did *not* come from the open window.
  66. GM: (It was open, not broken.)
  67. GM: (Is this acceptable?)
  68. Shadowhunt: (Yeah, I think so.)
  69. GM: (Alright, Ryusui?)
  70. Pirrue: (drop)
  71. GM: (Alright.)
  72. Pirrue: (for future ref i think maybe the first round should have two clues)
  73. Pirrue: (maybe one clue on subsequent rounds)
  74. GM: (Alright.)
  75. GM: (Shadow?)
  76. Shadowhunt: Clue: The victim and their family had only recently returned from their night out in town.
  77. Shadowhunt: (Every given clue has to directly tie to a deduction starting out, it is gonna make, trying for interesting, if not slightly indirect clues hard)
  78. GM: (I take it you dropped, then...? Huh?)
  79. Pirrue: (yeah, we all have to say we drop)
  80. Pirrue: (like)
  81. Pirrue: (i can drop, but you two can keep making deductions)
  82. Pirrue: (and even assuming you dropped, Caillou hadn't dropped yet)
  83. GM: (I would have.)
  84. Shadowhunt: (you two already have a case? Or are you just giving up on this rule set?)
  85. GM: (Deduction phase of the round continues until *everyone* drops.)
  86. Shadowhunt: (Wait I though, It went everyone gives a clue, then everyone gives a deduction to stay in, then another clue, then a deduction etc, untill only one person remains having not droped on the deduction phase?)
  87. GM: (What? No. Everyone gives one clue. Everyone then gives at least one deduction, then continue making deductions until everyone drops. Then you move on to the next round.)
  88. Shadowhunt: Then I drop.
  89. GM: (Rinse and repeat.)
  90. GM: (And so do I.)
  91. Shadowhunt: (Then what determins the end game?)
  92. GM: (<@!Pirrue> gets the first turn here, since he dropped first.)
  93. GM: (The end comes when the final round is done.)
  94. GM: (We agreed on five rounds at first.)
  95. Shadowhunt: (Oh, so we are doing a fixed round thing, nevermind)
  96. Pirrue: so
  97. Pirrue: Clue: the minibar in the 20th floor room had been partaken of, and remains of a broken bottle of high-end booze - not enough glass for a complete bottle - were found in the carpet
  98. GM: ("The minibar in the 20th floor room was open, and part of the remains of a high-end bottle of booze was found on the carpet.")
  99. GM: (That sort of sounds like two clues.)
  100. Pirrue: fine
  101. Pirrue: Clue: the remains of a broken bottle were found in the carpet of the room on the 20th floor
  102. Shadowhunt: Clue: The room with the open window was not supposed to be occupied at the time.
  103. GM: Clue: Ebbot and Tobias look very similar, right down to the tail.
  104. GM: (Deduction time!)
  105. Pirrue: Deduction: Ebbot was the intended target of the murder.
  106. Shadowhunt: (I have an idea... but it is really close to what my last deduction basiclly was...)
  107. GM: (BTW, in the future, try to name the clues that lead to your deduction.)
  108. Shadowhunt: Deduction: Ebbot and Tobias both have nearly matching crystals and know each, this implies that they have shared at least a few secrets, such as what kind of crystal and rock diet to eat, and further they have both shared said diet for quite a while.
  109. GM: So... "Ebbot and Tobias shared a similar rock diet."
  110. Shadowhunt: (Yeah, a terrible deduction....)
  111. Pirrue: nah, it's just an enhancement
  112. Pirrue: like
  113. Shadowhunt: (It just implies they knew each other pretty well.)
  114. Pirrue: "Ebbot and Tobias were acquaintances" and "Ebbot and Tobias deliberately attempted to look like one another" are two different things
  115. Shadowhunt: (Well, true acutally)
  116. GM: (Looking at the doc, you can see that the deductions do overlap on clues, but it's okay considering that the deductions themselves don't conflict.)
  117. GM: (Did he imply they were intentionally trying to look like each other?)
  118. Pirrue: that was the gist I was getting
  119. Pirrue: that's the only reason I can think of two rock candies would try to ape one anothers' diets
  120. Pirrue: because they were trying to grow matching crystals
  121. Shadowhunt: (I'll stick to that then)
  122. GM: Deduction: The vacant room was likely the site of a clandestine meeting.
  123. Pirrue: Deduction: The victim was struck with a glass bottle before he fell to his death.
  124. Shadowhunt: Drop
  125. GM: Deduction: Tobias went to this theoretical meeting in Ebbot's place.
  126. Pirrue: Drop
  127. GM: Deduction: Tobias was thrown from the vacant room on the 20th floor.
  128. GM: (Yeah, I know; dur hur. But it needs to be said. XD)
  129. GM: (But yeah; drop is necessary at this point?)
  130. Shadowhunt: (yeah, just for clarity and all)
  131. Pirrue: (maybe a drop should be automatic once the other players have all dropped)
  132. Pirrue: (like, "if you're the last one left, you get one last chance to make a deduction, then you drop")
  133. Pirrue: (or alternately phrased, "you drop automatically if you would make two Deductions in a row")
  134. GM: (Yeah.)
  135. Shadowhunt: Clue: The victims son remembers passing his father briefly grumbling about a someone being a traitor.
  136. Pirrue: Clue: The victims' IDs were in each other's pockets.
  137. GM: (*Victims*?)
  138. Pirrue: (spacing out)
  139. Pirrue: Clue: Tobias's ID was found in Ebott's pocket, and vice versa
  140. Shadowhunt: (See... now I'm try to figure out what you two are up to, since so far, things are pointing toward Ebbot...)
  141. GM: Clue: When taken in, Ebbot was begging to be taken into Witness Protection. Even though he didn't claim to witness anything.
  142. GM: (Translation: This guy is scared for his life.)
  143. Shadowhunt: Deduction: Ebbot and Tobias managed to piss of someone scary, since they seemed to be trying to figure out what to do secretly, and Ebbot is absolutely fearing for his life.
  144. Pirrue: Deduction: In the right circumstances, Tobias and Ebott could have been mistaken for each other, even by close family
  145. GM: Deduction: It may have been Ebbot Tobias's son saw.
  146. Shadowhunt: Deduction: Since Tobias and Ebbot managed meet in a room that they should not of had easy access to, they must of planned meeting there in advance in one way or another.
  147. Shadowhunt: (how many rounds in are we?)
  148. GM: Objection: It's been deduced that Tobias went in Ebbot's stead. One can only assume that it was to meet with a third party.
  149. Shadowhunt: It was deduced that Tobais and Ebbot are similar and had swapped IDs, but I don't remember any deduction point out that Tobais went in his stead, allthought nothing confirms Ebbot went either.
  150. GM: Deduction 8: "Tobias went to this theoretical meeting in Ebbot's place."
  151. Shadowhunt: Ok
  152. Shadowhunt: (I guess that makes it Ryusui's turn, or am I able to make a different deduction?)"
  153. GM: (So you concede?)
  154. Shadowhunt: (That one yeah.)
  155. GM: (Then yeah, we move to Ryusui.)
  156. Pirrue: hmm
  157. GM: (And to answer your earlier question; we are in the deductive phase of round 3.)
  158. Pirrue: Deduction: someone arranged a meeting between Ebott and a third party in the room on the 20th floor, which Tobias attended instead
  159. Pirrue: (this is mostly a clarification, I suppose)
  160. Shadowhunt: Deduction: Ebbot was well aware that the meeting was going to take place, as he was supposed to be there, and that Tobias went in his place, as their IDs were swapped, so there was very little stopping him from showing up anyway. So persumably he did, to deal with the traitor.
  161. Pirrue: (wait, doesn't Caillou go next? or did he drop?)
  162. GM: (Um...?)
  163. Pirrue: (i thought it was Shadowhunt, then me, then Caillou?)
  164. Shadowhunt: (shit... sorry I just went ahead, we were limited to two deductions?)
  165. Pirrue: (Caillou didn't deduce, he just pointed out the hole in your original deduction)
  166. Shadowhunt: (And now I'm losing track of turn order too...)
  167. Shadowhunt: (Sorry, ignore my thing then)
  168. Pirrue: (i think something's up with Caillou)
  169. GM: (I'm here.)
  170. GM: Deduction: Shia could have climbed into the vacant room from her room below.
  171. Shadowhunt: (is there the two deduction limit in effect then?)
  172. GM: (No.)
  173. GM: (You just did it out of order, that's all.)
  174. Shadowhunt: Then...
  175. Shadowhunt: Deduction: Ebbot was well aware that the meeting was going to take place, as he was supposed to be there, and that Tobias went in his place, as their IDs were swapped, so there was very little stopping him from showing up anyway. So persumably he did, to deal with the traitor.
  176. Pirrue: Deduction: The killer was the traitor.
  177. Pirrue: (Caillou's turn next :P)
  178. Shadowhunt: (The part were I wonder if I worded my thing to vague.)
  179. Shadowhunt: Objection: Why would the killer be the traitor? Ebbot knew beforehand who the traitor was, but never specified who, it could have been Tobias.
  180. Pirrue: Rebuttal: it doesn't contradict what we know.
  181. Shadowhunt: ok
  182. GM: Drop.
  183. Shadowhunt: Drop
  184. Pirrue: Deduction: The killer knew Ebott suspected a traitor and killed them to maintain their secret.
  185. Pirrue: (and that's auto-drop)
  186. GM: (And can we stop here? It's getting late for me.)
  187. Pirrue: (sounds good)
  188. Shadowhunt: Sure
  189. GM: Let's...
  190. GM: !end
