There'd been civil discord on Yautja core worlds. Fractures had appeared, younger dissenters from the Lesser Clans exhuming nanosciences long-quashed as dangerous. In a subversive quest to "upgrade," these Rebel Clans practiced merging their DNA with aggressive genome traits from off-world races.

They became Aberrations. Bigger, brutal. Intent on slaughter for slaughter's sake. Insane. Unhindered by politics or religion, Yautja Clans weighed the Aberrations as dishonorable, and with unusual solidarity moved as one to crush them. The internecine conflict to restore the Yautja's pride was long and costly. Planets died in the process.
