- No, the USB flash drive does not have to be empty, but keep in mind that the Windows 10 Media Creation Tool will erase everything on the drive when it formats it to create the bootable installation media.
- Before Using the USB Drive:
- *Backup any important files from the USB to another location.
- *Use a drive with at least 8GB of space (16GB is better to be safe).
- If you have files on the USB that you want to keep, move them elsewhere before proceeding!
