- Rally cars and drift cars differ in several ways, including:
- Goal
- In Formula Drift, the goal is to have long, smooth drifts. In rally, the tail end of the car naturally kicks out when driving on loose surfaces.
- Set up
- Drift cars have a lot of negative camber on the front wheels, which can range from -4 to -7 degrees.
- Differentials
- Professional drift cars use a special differential to balance power between the front and rear axles. Some drift cars use a spool differential, which locks the wheels together
- Driving aids
- Drivers of drift cars don't use driving aids like ABS (anti-lock braking system) or TCS (traction control) so they can maintain full control of the car.
- Parts
- Rally cars have parts to survive high-speed driving on rough roads, such as a roll cage, upgraded suspension, and better brakes.
