- The creature looked down at Brockton, and then turned away with a kind of implied arrogance. As if Brockton was nothing. Then it took off down the hall toward the alien. The alien had whipped its bony tail at Dean, encircling him and pulling him close. Then it rammed its claws into Dean's left side, piercing the skin and sinking deep into his flesh. The new alien bellowed in pain.
- The alien held him tight with its tail, its ridges cutting into Dean's legs. The alien slashed away with its free hand, and dug the claws deeper into the big hunter's side. The insectoid creature's head was inches away from Dean's, slime dripping from it as it extended its toothed tongue yet again. Without any real maneuverability, Dean was forced to bring the fight in even closer.
