- Abdallah froze as he stared at the demon. Was this some sort of devil conjured up by black magic? In one swift move, the demon leaped off its ledge and landed on the cliff. The ground shook as it landed.
- The demon's yellow eyes never broke from Abdallah. As the realization of what stood before him washed over Abdallah, he felt his heart tremor with a fear he'd never felt before.
- Abdallah didn't think. He reacted. Abdallah aimed his rifle and pulled the trigger. His ears rang with the deafening gunfire, but his bullets struck air. The beast moved faster than Abdallah could think. The beast was to his left, moving quicker than any tiger or mountain lion. Then it was to his right. Then his left again. Each time it was closer. Abdallah pulled his trigger again. Again. And again. But it was to no avail.-pg.110 chpt.5
