- - this guide assumes you do not do any extra scrolls. note that you can always toss from items while organizing them in viridian center
- - buy thunderstone x1, fire stone x1 in any order
- - have 20 items in inventory
- - get 255 stack of thunderstone using missingno/'M
- - fly to saffron, go to location where bushes are on the topmost row (e.g. http://puu.sh/tCT57/816907aa36.png)
- - dry underflow
- - non-useless:
- - any items fetched in the setup
- - thunderstones + fire stones
- - swap useless with max potion x[]1 in south connection
- - set instant text
- - get rid of any shitty rival name/money items/TID here (do not swap max elixer/quantity of 83 in rival name!!!)
- - fly to celadon
- - walk 1 left, swap fire stone x1 from main inventory with xcoord rare candies
- - walk 1 down, toss 15 from fire stone x0, swap with useless in inventory
- - swap useless with great ball x255 in connections
- - optional: get rid of cancel in badges (ignore if you don't have all 8 badges/don't really care)
- - swap master ball TID with tileset x0 (will be said as potion for simplicity)
- - toss 1 from potion
- - toss cancel directly above potion (toss entire stack by pressing down)
- - scroll all the way back to badges
- - swap upper potion x255 stack with tm23 x64 (do not scroll too far or else you'll get a click item)
- - swap master balls swapped into tileset back into TID
- - swap ultra ball with potion x255
- - fly to pallet
- - swap ether x171 in south connection with useless, 171 - 168 = 3
- - note: you might see an ether somewhere in rival name. to simplify the guide, do not use this ether
- - swap useless with hp up x0 in north connection
- - swap master ball x0 in warping with useless
- - fly to cerulean, go to route 24 (you'll be on route 24 when a sprite appears on the bridge)
- - swap useless with tm31 x70
- - go to route 9
- - swap tm13 x86 in text pointer with useless, 86 - 44 = 42
- - go to route 5
- - swap useless with 9F in north connection
- - fly to viridian
- - go to house with bird inside it (adjacent to girl in viridian)
- - swap tm22 x65 with useless, 65 - 62 = 3
- - exit house
- - change to an empty box (not box 1) if the current box isn't empty
- - go to route 1
- - get inside a wild battle
- - use the "9F" item inside battle, press start to open the start menu, flash trainer card + partymons
- - from this point onward, if you save and reset during the process, you must go back to route 1 and use 9F in battle again.
- - walk to the center (open start menu to gauge your current location)
- - NOTE: you cannot fly to viridian or else you will lose the "out of battle" state
- - the game now thinks you're still in a battle. this allows you to repeatedly throw master balls to catch the enemy mon (although it will become a ditto after the first mon is caught)
- - if you don't have a full party (6 pokemon), catch pokemon using the master ball stack until you have a full party
- - after you have a full party, go to the following header in the doc based on the condition:
- - go to "catch order, good select button" if you're okay with using the select button multiple times (or changing case using the label at the bottom of the nickname screen). These names are much less complicated than the other names.
- - go to "catch order, bad select button" if you aren't okay with using the select button multiple times (i.e. original 3ds)
- - name all caught mons in order, based on the names below (end at "; end boxmon naming 1")
- - note: if you mess up a name, then you must release all the pokemon in the box and do it all over again!
- - the alternative is withdrawing and depositing mons to "insert" the fixed name, which is much more confusing and not that faster
- - you can double check at the end using the names directly below the names used when catching (i.e. "box order, etc.")
- - one you have caught all mons, re-order the inventory to:

- - master ball: ?? - ?? = 58 (toss in stacks of 30 until you get a recognizable number, then use math to toss to 58)
- - tm13: 86 - 44 = 42
- - rare candy: 256 - 5 = 251
- - hp up: 256 - 254 = 2
