DiscoDude: ---BEGIN SESSION---
DiscoDude: Session logging commenced
Ryusui: So, Vagabonds! When last we'd left off, Chell and Boozoo were going to search for the Woodland Alliance's presence (if any) in Milltown, while Mitsunari and Aulus decided to go present themselves to the local Eyrie Under-Regent in hopes of getting his permission to investigate the mills!
Ryusui: It doesn't take much effort to figure out where the Eyrie's Roost is here in Milltown - the towering guard post is the centerpiece of Fort Scarborough, near the edge of the clearing! Most of the buildings are much nearer to ground level, thankfully, but there is a wood-and-stone wall surrounding the place, topped with spikes for added security, and a single entry and exit guarded by two humorless-looking Eyrie soldiers!
Ryusui: Mitsunari, Aulus Lusius Allectus, what do you do?
Aulus Lusius Allectus: would stride forward to the gate with purpose. Looking like they belong is probably the most important part of the ruse. Only stopping at the gate to query the guards for directions to the Under-Regents office.
Mitsunari: "Greetings and salutations, my feathered friends!" Mitsu's waving as he runs up to the pair. "We're just a couple of Vagabonds hoping to inquire about some mysterious goings-on inside the clearing since the ol' under-regent's got his talons full with the prey waiting outside the city, eh?" He'd do an arm wraparound embrace with one of them if given the opportunity.
Aulus Lusius Allectus: (Pfft, completely different approaches.)
Ryusui: (i'm gonna go respond to Mitsu's first)
Ryusui: "The Under-Regent is seeing no one right now," the guard nearest you says, Mitsu. He emphatically does not allow the full-arm wraparound.
Mitsunari: "Aw, not even when there's something he might need a few strapping vagabonds to sort out?" Mitsu turns to glance at Aulus, wondering how the bun might contribute to the situation.
Aulus Lusius Allectus: "I don't think you understand the situation. We aren't just wandering about looking for a job, we are already are in the employ of another Eyrie official. Recent events have warranted an audit." He would then flash his, admittedly faded military insignia. "I may no longer be a soldier, but I remember how things like this can shake down. So it would be best for you to allow us an audience."
Ryusui: (...okay, is this a Persuade move? if so, roll me +Charm)
Mitsunari: (I think this is Trick.)
Ryusui: (oh, right! +Cunning, then!)
Aulus Lusius Allectus: !roll 2d6+1
DiscoDude: Aulus Lusius Allectus rolled 2d6+1 for 8 [2d6 = 5, 2]
Mitsunari: (Normal success.)
Ryusui: (right, so i choose a favorable reaction, but you don't get what you want yet)
Aulus Lusius Allectus: (He did make a thinly veiled threat if you think about it.)
Ryusui: (okay, so was that Persuade or Trick, then?)
Ryusui: (because that determines how i respond)
Aulus Lusius Allectus: (Persuade was what I was aiming for.)
Ryusui: (all right)
Aulus Lusius Allectus: (Bad things happen to Eyrie officals who aren't on the up and up. Especially we the, unofficial internal stuff comes up.)
Ryusui: The guards both visibly flinch at the sight of your insignia. One of them regains his composure and speaks for them both: "Well aware, sir," he says, offering a salute (which his partner gives him a side-eye for), "but the Under-Regent has ordered tight security on the Fort. Concerned about Marquisate infiltration, you see."
Ryusui: (Remember, the Under-Regent's big concern is Marquisate infiltration; if you can present a convincing argument that you might help him with that problem somehow, you might have an "in.")
Mitsunari: "Oh, yes, the limb-from-limb incident, we're well aware. Real sensational, that. We heard there was some rather suspicious types crawling their way around your mills, as a matter of fact, and I said to my friend here," Mitsu thrusts a finger in the air with a triumphant smile, "'why, that sounds exactly like the sort of kitty-cat plot the under-regent would want sniffing out!'"
Ryusui: "What are you getting at, sir?" the guard says to you, Mitsu, a bit more rudely than towards Aulus.
Aulus Lusius Allectus: "Like I've already said, and my associate here repeated, we are hear to investigate. There seems to have been a number of problems as of late, and we are the ones who have been sent to redress them. Mills and Marquisate alike."
Aulus Lusius Allectus: "And should they prove serious, we will simply cut them in half." He would reach for the handle of his greatsword with one hand, giving it a pull, but never actually drawing it outright.
Ryusui: One of the guards prepares to draw his own sword in response, but the other guard, presumably a cooler head, raises his hand. "We'll send word to the Under-Regent there's someone from the Eyrie here to see him." He squints at you, perhaps not wholly convinced of your act. "Who should we tell him has come?"
Aulus Lusius Allectus: "I'm no longer a lieutenant, so I'm afraid Aulus will have to do." he would make sure to move his hand back to his side, to avoid fraying their nerves too much. "We will wait here for the response then, just let him know our employer wanted us to work with haste. The Under-Regent's blessing would be greatly appreciated, but not required."
Ryusui: The guards both frown, then one nods to the other. In a minute or so, he returns, face flushed, clearly having run the whole way.
Ryusui: "He says you two can enter," he says, gasping for breath.
Mitsunari: During their absence, Mitsunari would cast a "what the hell was that" glance at Aulus.
Mitsunari: (Or does the gang already know about Aulus's contact?)
Ryusui: (you two can decide that XD)
Aulus Lusius Allectus: (They might have a hunch, and Mitsunari defiantly knows. Wasn't it decided that he was on the delivering end of Aulus and co's burn notice?)
Mitsunari: (Oh, right. XD)
Mitsunari: (My line still tracks, considering Mitsu would be well-aware that this Eyrie guy's opinion of that group is a crapshoot. XD)
Aulus Lusius Allectus: would just look back at Mitsunari non-plused. "...What? You learn to do this kinda stuff as an officer. Unless you mean the name, no one is gonna care about a common enough first name."
Aulus Lusius Allectus: (Befor the guards get back.)
Ryusui: (are you two ready to go inside, chronologically speaking?)
Mitsunari: (Yep.)
On the way in, Mitsu slaps his own cheeks and actually manages to wipe the permanent smile off his face as he makes an effort to straighten his posture.
Aulus Lusius Allectus: nods to the guards. "Thank you. Perhaps, once we finish here the Marquisate problem will be solve, and your guard shift will no longer need be so rigorous." and with that, he would make his way to the office.
Ryusui: One of the guards escorts the two of you through the fort. Past the outer wall is a spacious training ground; even now, Eyrie soldiers are in the middle of practice drills. Beyond that is the administrative complex proper; the guard tower climbs high overhead, but for simple logistical and security reasons the offices take up only two floors, with the Under-Regent's office on the top one.
Ryusui: "Come in, come in!" The Under-Regent, a sparrow in a military uniform bedecked with what appear to be medals (Aulus, you in particular would recognize them as simple decoration, of no actual official meaning), grins at you both ingratiatingly. "Welcome to my offices. Under-Regent Koloschen Zyll, at your service."
Ryusui: Under-Regent Zyll keeps quite an ostentatious office: the desk is gilded, there are shelves festooned with trophies, small statues, and assorted shiny things, and on the wall is an elaborate map of the Wilderness, every clearing optimistically colored in Eyrie blue.
Mitsunari: "It is an honor, your humble grace." Mitsu does a curt bow.
Aulus Lusius Allectus: "Well meet Under-Regent, I apologize for unexpected visit but a level of urgency was impressed upon us. One that wouldn't allow for otherwise common courtesy. To keep this brief, there seems to have been various issues in Milltown as of late, and were sent to assess them."
Ryusui: "Yes, yes, issues, issues indeed," Under-Regent Zyll says, turning around in his chair to the shelf behind him and grabbing two large golden goblets, encrusted with jewels, and quite a large jug of a dark, viscous fluid. "The Marquisate chewing through the foundations of our fine clearing, no doubt. Like the worms they are," he chuckles. "Care for a drink?"
Mitsunari: "Oh, I couldn't possibly impose like that. We're here to serve, not play at being guests." Mitsu puffs up his chest, but casts a glance at the bottle.
(Would this count as Figuring Someone Out?)
Ryusui: (yeah)
Mitsunari: (I have a Move called Knowing the Lords' Will, where I get to use MIGHT instead of CHARM for this.)
Ryusui: (yes, also)
Ryusui: (i just realized)
Ryusui: (we still have to Meet Someone Important)
Ryusui: (who's gonna roll for that?)
Mitsunari: (Prolly Aulus; we're both neutral, and I have my own thing to roll for.)
Ryusui: (Right. Aulus, roll + Eyrie reputation!)
Ryusui: (Mitsunari, roll + Might!)
Aulus Lusius Allectus: !roll 2d6
DiscoDude: Aulus Lusius Allectus rolled 2d6 for 8 [2d6 = 2, 6]
Mitsunari: !roll 2d6+2 (MIGHT)
DiscoDude: Mitsunari rolled 2d6+2 for 8 [2d6 = 5, 1]
Mitsunari: (So, what does a partial success get both of us?)
Ryusui: (okay. Aulus, you get to pick one - ask me a question about this guy to learn something about him you've heard, or take +1 forward because he's heard about you and your exploits)
Mitsunari: (in a favorable light, that is.)
Ryusui: (Mitsu, you get 1 hold to ask me, the GM, a question re: Zyll during this convo: "is he telling the truth?" "what is he really feeling?" "what does he intend to do?" "what does he wish you'd do?" "how do i get him to (whatever)?")
Ryusui: (like you don't have to spend it now, you just get to ask me 1 question regarding one of these things when the opportunity comes up)
Mitsunari: (Alright.)
Aulus Lusius Allectus: (What do you think DC? The +1 foward might be useful since we are probably gonna be talking to this guy a bit, but the other might help too.)
Mitsunari: (Hmm... I feel like we've already heard a lot of the dirt we're probably going to hear/see self-evidently. The +1 seems more crucial; especially if it establishes him as liking the group you're associated with.)
Aulus Lusius Allectus: (Alright. I'll take the +1 going forward.)
Mitsunari: (Alright, so what has this guy heard, GM? 😉 )
Ryusui: (first, Aulus, are you going to respond to Zyll's drink offer?)
Aulus Lusius Allectus: would simply put up his hand to stop. "Thank you, but like I said before, a level of urgency was impressed upon us. I'd like to make sure I have my full focus at the ready. The last thing I need to be is half drunk while knee deep in Marquisate saboteurs."
Aulus Lusius Allectus: "Perhaps, after this matter is concluded."
Ryusui: "Suit yourself, then." Zyll leaves both goblets out, but pours one only for himself. Mitsu - you can tell it's the same stuff the barkeep poured for you back in the Regent's Wings. Whatever was in that shotglass, he's got an enormous bottle of it - several, in fact, now that you look - and he's pouring himself a
huge goblet of it.
Aulus Lusius Allectus: (If it fits, maybe he does recognize Aulus from before the regime change, and that he was a rather diligent officer at the time, or the like?)
Ryusui: "Now that I think of it, I've heard stories of a certain...
ugly secret of the Marquisate burning to the ground near here. I understand some of my colleagues were rather upset; they'd had designs on claiming it for themselves...but a victory against the Marquisate is a victory against the Marquisate, no?" He takes a large sip of Wildwood Sherry. "I believe I've heard that some people matching your description were involved? Good show, there, good show."
Aulus Lusius Allectus: "I wouldn't disagree with that. Though I wish I wasn't so near to the explosion at the time... I hope you're colleagues weren't too upset, a Marquisate stronghold so near, once even within our state, seemed too dangerous to ignore."
Mitsunari: "Oh, you are too kind, your grace." Another bow. "To be specific, we were told of potential saboteurs infiltrating your mills under cover of darkness. Or thieves. Or whatever theory our handler happens to sieze upon next.
Sneaks, in any case. With your main forces a bit tied up looking for that... are we right in hearing it was a bandit camp? Whatever the issue, we were told that we ought to offer aid on the mill-front and keep your forces from being stretched too thinly. If you are willing to offer your blessing and perhaps the bare minimum pinch of manpower... Well, that's what we're hoping to beseech you for, anyway."
Mitsunari: (I'll spend my hold to ask "How can I get Zyll to support our investigation?")
Ryusui: Zyll rubs his chin. "I suppose I can spare one of my soldiers to accompany you," he says. "And his presence should provide sufficient authority to...
open up the town to you, as it were." He chuckles again. "But you will have to promise me one thing. Any perpetrators must be taken alive, and brought straight to me. I would make a public example of them. Of any Marquisate vermin who dares undermine my - I mean, the Eyrie's authority."
Ryusui: (and there you have it - he'll agree, but he wants any perps you find, and he wants them alive!)
Mitsunari: "Oh, so you'll even provide the cells? I thank you for your generous contributions, your grace." Another bow.
Aulus Lusius Allectus: "As long as you aren't so careless as not to interrogate them first, I think we find these terms amenable."
Ryusui: He takes another ostentatious swig of Wildwood Sherry. "There is one other matter I would have you take care of, at your leisure." He says this in a way that he suggests you will, out of the goodness of your hearts, prioritize it. "I'd like you to stop by St. Goodmountain's and give my regards to Abbot Holly. He's a good friend of mine, and I haven't been able to make time to see him lately."
Mitsunari: "Oh, I'll be sure to give the abbey their due regards at some point - of that, you can have my guarantee~"
Aulus Lusius Allectus: "I'll do what I can, but it seems my associate is more then willing to do so. Then, if that is all, we shall began our investigation shortly."
Ryusui: "That should be all, yes." He holds up the bottle again: "You're certain you don't want any? It's Milltown's most
special export. Only a handful of bottles are allowed to be sold per year, to maintain its value...by Eyrie law, of course." He chuckles again. "One of the perks of making the rules...you don't have to abide by them." He grins.
Ryusui: Mitsu, you might recall that the barkeep told you not to tell anyone she'd served you some.
Aulus Lusius Allectus: "I appreciate the offer, but only once we finish could I humor you."
Mitsunari: "Ehehe, I'm not one to sip and tell, and though it seems impertinent to say so, I
do hope to partake in such sipping later, if you so deign it."
Ryusui: Zyll shrugs, then nods: "A diligent worker. I can appreciate that. Now, off with you! Officer Kurgel, please accompany them." He nods to the guard who escorted you to the office, the one who earlier stopped his compatriot from flipping out and attacking Aulus when he made that dramatic gesture of nearly drawing his blade.
Mitsunari: (Starting to regret suggesting that +1, but eh, it could have proved useful if Zyll really was the hostile paranoiac we were told of; no use crying over a failed prediction.)
Aulus Lusius Allectus: (To be fair, I think we got on his good side precisely because of that.)
Aulus Lusius Allectus: would be on his way then. Aulus would make use of Kurgel immediately, asking a number of questions. Is there any confirmed Marquisate activity lately, what about other open reports that haven't been confirmed or addressed, any current suspects?
Ryusui: Officer Kurgel goggles at your barrage of questions. "Official word is that there's Marquisate infiltrators in the clearing, trying to sabotage the mills." He sighs. "There's soldiers patrolling the clearing, but he's got most of us guarding the fort."
Mitsunari: Mitsu would let out a long sigh once he was out of earshot of the office.
"That... was exhausting. Worth it, though!" His perma-smile is back in force, now.
Aulus Lusius Allectus: Aulus just... sighs. "Alright, yeah. I guess, we will just start with mills and go from there. Also, what about reports of theft? Have things been stolen and if so, what?"
Ryusui: Kurgel looks uncomfortable with this line of questioning. "I'm not privy to that information, sir."
Aulus Lusius Allectus: would rub the arch of his nose. "I don't think we are done just yet Mitsunari." But would otherwise continue in silence for most of the trip.
Aulus Lusius Allectus: (Actually, I can try and Figure him out.)
Ryusui: (if you want to, roll +Charm)
Aulus Lusius Allectus: !roll 2d6+1
DiscoDude: Aulus Lusius Allectus rolled 2d6+1 for 8 [2d6 = 5, 2]
Aulus Lusius Allectus: (All eights all day...)
Mitsunari: (Cuh-RAZY eights!)
Ryusui: (same as before: you get 1 hold, spend it on "is he telling the truth," "what is he really feeling," "what does he intend to do," "what does he want you to do," or "how can I get him to ___?")
Aulus Lusius Allectus: Aulus probably had a bit of small talk about the town, and how life in the service while trying to figure Kurgel out.
Mitsunari: ("What is he really feeling" could be a good one in this case.)
Aulus Lusius Allectus: (Yeah, I do want to ask. what do they really feel about the whole mill and bandits thing.)
Ryusui: (that's a two-for-one but i'll give it to you just this once)
Ryusui: The guard doesn't seem to consider the bandits a threat. However, it's clear he's worried about the mills.
Very worried. What, specifically, he's worried about, he is very evasive about; it's almost as if he's as concerned about divulging it as he is about the matter itself.
Ryusui: (also, fuck, i realize that question isn't on the list, technically; it's not specified
what he's supposed to be feeling, but...fuck it, we'll roll with it)
Aulus Lusius Allectus: Alright, with the guard in tow gaining entrance to the mill should be trivial enough right? Aulus would see if there is anyone worth questioning about it. People who were either there the night of, or who could say what was there and if anything was lost or notably changed.
Mitsunari: (There's a lot of mills in this town, I thought?)
Ryusui: The mill,
singular? There's dozens of them by the river, each of them processing a different good.
Aulus Lusius Allectus: (There were a few that were broken in to right?)
Aulus Lusius Allectus: (or am I jumping ahead on some rumors.)
Ryusui: You can hear them working as you approach; nearest the river, the noise is a
cacophony.
Ryusui: And yes, there's been rumors of break-ins, but you don't have any specifics to go by, yet - neither Zyll nor Kurgel seemed forthcoming with details.
Mitsunari: "Psst, Aulus." Mitsunari wants to take Aulus to the side for a moment.
Aulus Lusius Allectus: would do just that then. trying to get some space between them and the guard for a moment.
Mitsunari: "On a scale of one to 'as all hell,' how guilty would you say the under-regent is in this whole mill situation?"
Mitsunari: (Mitsu, of course, was privy to the stuff Aulus was speaking to the guard fellow about.)
Aulus Lusius Allectus: "Right now, I'd say the only thing he seems guilty of is incompetence and the discontent that follow. Maybe we should of pressed it further, but I think he genuinely believes there is a threat against his life in specific."
Aulus Lusius Allectus: "At the very least he has the majority his forces holed up with him, to to presumably protect himself, from his alleged threats."
Mitsunari: "Really? He's not exactly the gibbering paranoid wreck the rumors implied; he's doing just
swell, in fact. I highly doubt his arrests are really about 'Marquisate threats.' Wanna bet on that?"
Aulus Lusius Allectus: "It could be, all I can say is we still don't have much to go on. Let just try and fill in the bigger picture quickly. There is nothing I'd gamble on yet."
Aulus Lusius Allectus: (I like how we have gotten all this help, but we don't know what we will do with it yet, maybe we should be his friend a visit after all.)
Mitsunari: "Suit yourself." Mitsu ambles back over to their escort. "So! Your people don't seem to have any record of where these break-ins happened. Somehow. It's fine - we all have bad days! What say we go looking? I'm sure the people will be
elated* that the Eyrie's best is finally on the case, and they'll be eager to tell us allllll about it."
Mitsunari: Basically, Mitsu plans to parade this guy around, announce "Look, they've started helping!" and hoping that this gets people to open up about the wheres and whens.
Ryusui: The sounds of machinery are suddenly punctuated by a scream, and a loud curse of "goddammit!" Despite the din, it's not hard to figure out which mill it came from - looks rather like a lumber mill.
Aulus Lusius Allectus: would just shrug. "Close enough, yeah?" and he would head to that mill.
Ryusui: The door - a sturdy affair - is unlocked and opens easily. Inside, the first thing you notice is the enormous, presumably waterwheel-driven, machine for sawing logs into planks. There are no logs in the machine right now, however, despite the still-deafening rumble of the equipment - instead they're off to the side, set up on several makeshift mounts. One of these mounts has given way, and one of the laborers is trapped underneath the bulk of a heavy piece of tree.
Ryusui: The rest of the laborers are all working as one, trying to lift the log.
Aulus Lusius Allectus: wouldn't waste a second, moving to help with the log.
Ryusui: (let's call this a special move, for the both of you: either or both of you want to help, roll +Might!)
DiscoDude: Aulus Lusius Allectus rolled 2d6+3 for 13 [2d6 = 5, 5]
Ryusui: (hot damn. Mitsu?)
Mitsunari: Mitsu heads over to "help out," too, though he's more interested in the set-up. (Either way, would me doing a Help action matter here?)
Mitsunari: (Or is this somehow reliant on two rolls?)
Ryusui: (call this a chance to impress the locals)
Mitsunari: (Alrighty.)
Mitsunari: !roll 2d6+2 (MIGHT)
DiscoDude: Mitsunari rolled 2d6+2 for 12 [2d6 = 6, 4]
Mitsunari: (Effortless.)
Ryusui: (clean win for both of you; you each get +1 ongoing when interacting with these people)
Ryusui: With two vagabonds in play, the work goes much more easily. The log is lifted, the laborer extracted, and quickly moved to a makeshift cot. "Anyone not taking care of Levon, back to work," says a bespectacled porcupine - presumably the foreman here. "We're all quite grateful to the two of you," he says, addressing you, Mitsu and Aulus, "but I have to ask - just who are you?"
Mitsunari: (BTW, it's a shame that Root doesn't seem to have a clean equivalent to Monster of the Week's "Investigate a Mystery.")
Mitsunari: "We were in the area on the Under-Regent's behalf to finally start investigating those break-ins people were talking about. My friends here can tell you more~"
Mitsu lets Aulus do the talking here and heads off to examine the broken mount.
Ryusui: The mount, or what's left of it, is sturdily made - the breakage appears to have just been bad fortune. Most of the other laborers have returned to sawing on the other logs; some are currently working to prop this one up on a fresh mount.
Aulus Lusius Allectus: "Suffice to say, things are starting to get the attention of those outside of Milltown. We were sent to investigate."
Mitsunari: So, there's nothing unusual about the break itself?
Ryusui: The break doesn't seem to be sabotage, no. What's unusual is that the sawing machine, the one you can hear from halfway across town, appears to be going unused.
Aulus Lusius Allectus: "Perhaps, you could set us on the right direct. There have been rumors of break ins at some of the mills, any idea of which ones?"
Ryusui: "Well, we've been fortunate enough not to have any break-ins here," the foreman says, wiping his glasses. "The doors are double-bolted, and I sleep at night near 'em with my biggest stick right nearby." He smiles proudly. "Not many of the mill foremen around here would go that far to keep these mills safe."
Ryusui: "Oh, most of 'em have, honestly. You'd have a harder time finding one that hasn't." He rubs his chin. "Shadows creepin' in in the dead of night. They're good enough the only evidence they leave is a handful of eyewitness accounts."
Mitsunari: "Oho, so these break-ins are making things less safe? Do tell." Mitsunari has, in Mitsu fashion, inserted himself uncomfortably close to the other members of the conversation. "I also notice there's this really loud machine you're running for seemingly no reason. Is there a story behind that?"
Ryusui: "Uhh, yeah." He looks around, nervously: "The damn thing hasn't worked in weeks. Something broke in there and there's nobody around who knows how to fix it," he whispers.
Ryusui: "We've been keeping up production doing the work by hand and hiring more people, but." He shrugs helplessly. "No idea how sustainable this arrangement is."
Mitsunari: "So even if you didn't witness anything... Well, let's take a look, at least, before we go throwing the word 'sabotage' around."
Mitsunari: Mitsu turns and heads off to do just that before the foreman has a chance to respond.
Aulus Lusius Allectus: "Hmm... so they would break in easily... Do you know if there was anything taken in the other break ins?"
Ryusui: "If you take the word of the Under-Regent and his guards, they're saboteurs. But..." He lowers his voice even further: "The only things that've gone missing are like...scraps. Leftover bits of whatever, wood, paper, metal, leather. It doesn't make a lot of sense, but..." He looks at his big stick in the corner. "...better safe than sorry."
Ryusui: You're not any kind of engineer, Mitsu, but at a guess, the mechanical saw hasn't been maintained in years. The bolts are caked in rust, and while the saw does appear to be operational, the small metal blades meant to haul logs into it...aren't. There are some small spatters of blood here and there suggesting they attempted to push them in manually at some point, with tragic results for someone.
Ryusui: A little more searching turns up an access panel, and if this is indeed sabotage, then the saboteur must know how to apply a decade of rust in an instant - there's no sign it's been touched in ages.
Aulus Lusius Allectus: "Left over on what kind of scale? A scrap to a place like this could just be a tree deemed to gnarled, or odds and ends that were't deemed in good enough shape to sell."
Ryusui: "Little things. Cast-offs. And yeah, sometimes finished goods that weren't up to snuff. I don't know all the specifics; you'll have to ask someone who was actually burgled."
Mitsunari: "No sabotage here, it seems. Just neglect no one but the original builders would know how to alleviate. But maybe that tells part of its own story, eh?"
Ryusui: The foreman goes stony-faced. "Careful you don't talk too freely about, eh, 'original builders' around here," he says, casting a sideways glance at the guard who's still accompanying you.
Aulus Lusius Allectus: "Alright then, if you have any names or places for these break ins, that would be about it. You're help has been appreciable."
Mitsunari: "Oh, him? We're working together, actually!" Mitsu's got the guard in an arm-wrap now. "Surely, we're allowed to discuss matters related to 'the enemy,' right? That's what we're looking for, eheheh!"
Ryusui: Kurgel audibly growls at your arm-wrap.
Mitsunari: "A'ight, peace." The fox unhands him.
Ryusui: "Mmmm...take your pick. The leatherworks, the metalworks...some of our cast-offs go to the paper press...there's a mill that spins thread, and another that weaves cloth..."
Ryusui: Your gesture doesn't make the foreman any less reticent. "There's nothing I can really say about the matter," he says, firmly.
Mitsunari: "That's fine, I totally believe you. Come now, new friend, let us go speak to these witnesses."
Mitsunari: He winks at Aulus and tilts his head at the foreman.
Ryusui: The foreman reciprocates your tilt, a quizzical expression on his face. He has no idea what you're hinting at.
Aulus Lusius Allectus: "The paper press seems like the best place to start then. Makes for an easier introduction at least."
Mitsunari: (Guess Aulus didn't get the hint, then. XD)
Aulus Lusius Allectus: (Nope.)
Aulus Lusius Allectus: (I didn't get it either.)
Ryusui: "If you're going to introduce yourself to Ivon, be sure to tell him Ejon sent you. And that you did Levon a good turn."
Mitsunari: (We're going to be here all month if we handle the questioning process with the mills in individual scenes.)
Aulus Lusius Allectus: (agree)
Mitsunari: (Roll for appropriate Move montage?)
Ryusui: (pardon?)
Aulus Lusius Allectus: (would we just say generally what we are doing? instead of all the specific lines and interactions?)
Ryusui: (and for what it's worth, i have no intention of making you investigate each mill individually)
Mitsunari: (Never mind, I phrased that confusingly.)
Ryusui: (er. you will be investigating the paper mill, but i don't intend to make you investigate all the mills to figure out what's going on XD)
Aulus Lusius Allectus: (Like we would just. "Aulus would then question the people at the mills. " "Yeah you do that pick up that they stole stuff.")
Ryusui: (okay, so to be clear: do you want to do a montage-type thing where you canvass the mills, or do you want to investigate the paper mill specifically next?)
Aulus Lusius Allectus: (Uh.... it is context sensitive? Should we have the next one be a whole scene unto itself?)
Aulus Lusius Allectus: (Is it important enough to risk being an hour long dialogue of questions and conversation?)
Ryusui: (...i'll say you will probably get the same answers regardless of which approach you take, but you will get them in more detail if you investigate the paper mill as a scene)
Aulus Lusius Allectus: (So... yes?)
Ryusui: (yes you want to do the scene, or yes you want to skip ahead to where you've canvassed the mills)
Mitsunari: (I agree with doing a scene, then (but we keep the ongoing; maybe this will still be "the same scene").)
Ryusui: (you absolutely will keep the ongoing)
Ryusui: (word travels fast among the workers)
Aulus Lusius Allectus: (Anyway we are finish for now right? and Yes we will probably do the scene, since we will be rounding up whatever hints we can expect from these interactions.)
Ryusui: (they know a pair of vagabonds saved one of their own)
Ryusui: (oh, so folks wanna wrap up for the night?)
Mitsunari: (Yeah.)
Ryusui: (arrite, then)
Ryusui: (side note: will you be up to play tomorrow? I've pinged both <@!481723837453434881> and <@!155025784451497984> about the possibility of them getting their session done tomorrow, which may involve your two groups meeting back together)
Ryusui: (depends on how their session goes)
Aulus Lusius Allectus: I should be.
Mitsunari: (Sure. What about questions?)
Ryusui: (yeah i was getting to that)
Ryusui: (does anyone have any drives they've marked? and does anyone have any changes they wanna make to their sheets?)
Mitsunari: (No and no... However, tell me; was this sufficient for a mark of Prestige?)
Aulus Lusius Allectus: I don't think what we did in the mill counts as justice. And unless we got really lucky with the regent I don't think that counts as great risk.
Ryusui: (with whom?)
Mitsunari: Or is it too soon for the Denizens faction to be talking about how we did a good?
Aulus Lusius Allectus: Possibly Denizens.
Ryusui: arrite, yeah, both of you can mark 1 point of prestige for the denizens
Mitsunari: That do be all it takes sometimes. ^w^
Mitsunari: Anyway, is that all?
Mitsunari: Ryusui?
Ryusui: i think it is, yes
Ryusui: let us...
Ryusui: !end
