  1. <illwieckz> OK man
  2. <illwieckz> people
  3. <illwieckz> let's say it
  4. <illwieckz> today I read some talks on this channel
  5. <illwieckz> about et modding
  6. <illwieckz> I read TheDushan saying “also, there are a lot of mods for the WolfET what have made their source code available, and at least me (I write only in my name/nick)”
  7. <illwieckz> I was very tempted to say about that some years ago the last "OpenWolf" iteration by TheDushan was in fact the Qio engine renamed with all trace of origjn deleted and all the history deleted, and he used that to showcase an alleged impressive skill to turn some of Unvanquished contributors (like me) against the development team (I was only a contributor at this time)
  8. <illwieckz> you can see a backup of that fake OpenWolf engine there: https://github.com/illwieckz/OWEngine
  9. <illwieckz> well, so I said I was very tempted to say that when I read TheDushan talking about mod to warn people something can be unfair in that alleged work, just to warn people
  10. <illwieckz> but I haven't done that at all
  11. <illwieckz> I haven't said anything
  12. <illwieckz> but even after having said nothing there, TheDushan suddenly sent me many private messages threatening me with sentences like that: “I will be forced to take legal actions against you all” etc.
  13. <illwieckz> saying he will sue people etc.
  14. <illwieckz> so just let's say it: this man has a toxic behavior
  15. <illwieckz> and that's ok, but it's better to know
  16. <illwieckz> and for all projects that has one day included a commit by TheDushan: you have to know you're git history is now legally unsafe, because you'll never know if that code is from the alleged author under the alleged license
  17. <illwieckz> merging any commit by TheDushan makes a project legally unsafe
  18. <illwieckz> hopefully for you any copypasted code with author and origin deleted by TheDushan is likely to come from another fork sharing the same history (and the same legal term) of your own code base. Qio is a good example: it's OK to merge Qio code so if TheDushan takes Qio code and get this change merged it's OK. But it's good to know that something si unsafe.
  19. <illwieckz> And it's good to know this guy has a toxic behavior and harasses people by private messages
  20. <illwieckz> what had to be said is said
  21. <illwieckz> for reference, TheDushan reacted to a talk on another channel when I talked about how the Unvanquished engine was named OpenWolf (not the same linked above) first before being named Dæmon and how this renaming and all the details (including other minor steps) would not be useful in a graph like that to not bikeshed too much https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Quake_-_family_tree_2.svg
  22. <illwieckz> so, just telling a random dude this graph can be updated without bikeshedding too much (we alsot talked about the missing of rbdoom3bfg, darkmod, xonotic and so on) leaded to personal harassment, threat, etc.
  23. <illwieckz> so, since TheDushan said “I will be forced to take legal actions against you all”, and said “I will write and ask for legal assistance against you all” and said “I will sue you”, I hope he will have strong legal assistance to defend himself because of his own harassment
