  45. Description
  46.
  47. Welcome to Spanish A by Maurisha Tucker-McFadden. In this course, we will be going through the first couple chapters of a Spanish textbook. The goal of this course is to bring you from beginner to Novice-Mid.
  48.
  49. Most courses that teach languages either focus on grammar and structure or on colloquial speech. That's what makes this course different. We do not focus on either form or colloquial, but both.
  50.
  51. In the Second Language Acquisition community, there is the distinct differentiation between learning about and learning to use a language. Many classes will teach you about a language. The structure, the form, even the vocabulary. Few teach you to practically use a language. The nuances of how to express what is already inside of your head, instead of just translating what is written in front of you. That is the aim for this course; true use of the language, not just knowledge about it.
  52.
  53. The structure of the course will be fairly straight-forward. Each week, you will have assigned pages and homework to do, along with a video to guide you through. You will get grammar, vocabulary, and reading to do each week. There are even the occasional video meetings available to practice. This section is incredibly useful, as it will allow for you to practice speaking skills and provides accountability beyond the keyboard. It is of course optional, but highly recommended for you to take advantage of.
  54.
  55. Lessons from a language arts teacher who has learned Spanish, just like you will, with tips, tricks, and a ton of resources, even a textbook. This course handles everything from written language and basic pronunciation to the more nuanced pieces like appropriateness, songs, shows, and real practice. Spanish A covers basic descriptions, letters, numbers, basic verb usage, conjugations, relationships in English, and more. It is the perfect beginner class to start your language learning journey. Learning Spanish is doable, and I'm here to help you reach your goal.
  56.
  57. Who this course is for:
