DiscoDude: ---BEGIN SESSION---
DiscoDude: Session logging commenced
Shadowhunt: We open on a bright spring day, over a passanger ship heading for the port town of Tarru. The smell of the sea breeze, strong with salt, fills the Avon Vale's sails, pushing it ever foward. The sound of the crew getting ready to dock and passengers eager to stand on solid ground once more can be heard.
Shadowhunt: Starting off, can everyone give me a condition check? [STR] + [SPI]
Sochi: !roll d4+d8
DiscoDude: <@Sochi> rolled 48 for 12 []
Sochi: Hmmmm...
Shadowhunt: !roll 1d4 + 1d8
DiscoDude: <@Shadowhunt> rolled 1d4 for 3 [1d4 = 3] +; and 1d8 for 1 [1d8 = 1]
Sochi: !roll 1d4+1d8
DiscoDude: <@Sochi> rolled 1d4+1d8 for 4 [1d4 = 2; 1d8 = 2]
Reality Glitch: !roll 1d4
DiscoDude: <@Reality Glitch> rolled 1d4 for 3 [1d4 = 3]
Reality Glitch: !roll 1d8
DiscoDude: <@Reality Glitch> rolled 1d8 for 4 [1d8 = 4]
Shadowhunt: So Sochi is a 4 and Irai is a 7.
Minelle: !r 1d4+1d4
DiscoDude: <@Minelle> rolled 1d4+1d4 for 7 [1d4 = 4; 1d4 = 3]
Ollia: !r 1d8 + 1d4
DiscoDude: <@Ollia> rolled 1d8 for 5 [1d8 = 5] +; and 1d4 for 3 [1d4 = 3]
Reality Glitch: ((Better sea legs apparently.))
Ollia: ((forgot to change nicknames >.>))
Sochi: Sochi was used to traveling on small boats across still waters back in the valley he was from. This boat was not small, nor was this water quite still. He does his best to power through this ordeal.
Shadowhunt: Sochi 4, Irai 7, Minelle 7, Ollia 8
So it seems most of the travelers deal well enough with the voyage, or maybe feel a bit better nearing landfall.
Shadowhunt: Since people may not of gone through everyone elses characters, can we do short introductions now? Or would people rather just get on with it?
Sochi: (Is this our first time meeting, or are we already together?)
Reality Glitch: ((I’d like for us to all know each other already, but this be our first real travel.))
Shadowhunt: (I'd assume you have already meet before you boarded the ship, it is just that people might of not have properly "seen" each others travelers.)
Sochi: (I just did a character moment, so I’ll let other people go first.)
Minelle: looks wistfully out across the water. She's not unfamiliar or unaccustomed to travel, but she seems faintly uncomfortable without the conveniences she's used to.
Sochi: “Oogh.” Sochi almost flops over to join her, resting his cheek on the railing. “Doesn’t look too different from where we left... I wonder why people go through the trouble of crossing the ocean, then?” He likes to think he’s a laid-back guy, but that’s not to say he doesn’t have opinions.
Ollia: Ollia had smelt the sea water before, so this was nothing too strange to her, in fact she kinda liked travelling via sea, alas, she didn't find much inspiration in sea shanties, so she looked to reaching the shore with her two feet.
Reality Glitch: I respond to Sochi’s pessimistic remark: “Sometimes the small differences, and/or the differences in things other than looks, is enough to incentivize people.”
Sochi: “I suppose some people put more value in those small differences than others.” He turns to you with a gentle smile. “Well, we’re here. No sense in turning around without exploring a bit, at least.”
Reality Glitch: “Yeah!” 😃
Sochi: (“Why were you looking at me like I was some sort of pessimist?”)
Reality Glitch: ((“Because you sound like one.”))
Shadowhunt: As the ship draws closer to Tarru, the city grows, and you begin to be able to pick out details. Docks accomidating numerous ships, warehouses and goods constantly flowing to and fro, fisheries and their fleets turning in for the day. Much like the wind the sun is also to your backs, illuminating the city as it slowly starts to set
Shadowhunt: Eventually the Avon Vale pulls into port and you can hear the Captain Luz over the roar of the sea and cry of the wind.
Shadowhunt: "Let the passangers off first! Actually, finish your duties first, or I'll see to it you never set foot on my ship ever again" Though she doesn't follow her own word, practically jumping on to the dock, and positioning herself infront of where the passanger would step off.
Shadowhunt: There she would be, waiting to greet the passengers one last time before bidding them fair well, the travelers not excluded, all the while giving advice on the city as she went.
Reality Glitch: “Impressive leap.” I say to the captain as I step off the ship.
Shadowhunt: "If you think that was impressive, then you'd not believe what I can actually do."
Sochi: “There’s not much I’d not believe if I saw it.” Sochi nods sagely. “But we’ll stick to the advice on the city, thank you. That was kind of you to offer, by the way.”
Shadowhunt: "I'm happy to help... And it wouldn't be good for buissness if everyone I ever ferried got into trouble before they even set out."
Minelle: follows the rest of the passengers off the deck, looking around as she does so. She's seen bigger cities, more grandiose ones, but...this is just about as big as she likes. She looks around for any signs of a library nearby.
Shadowhunt: Captain Luz did metion something that fits that description, but not quite...
Shadowhunt: An archive of sorts, mostly maps and legal documents, though supposedly it was an actual library ages ago until it's collection was lost in a fire. As well as something about being a central guild office now.
Minelle: smiles as she remembers the talk about the archive. That definitely sounds right up her alley. She looks for any signs of where it might be found.
Sochi: “Oh, before we forget.” Sochi counts out coins into a bag that’s a little smaller than his purse and turns to <@!Ollia>, waiting for her to hold out her hand. “This is 200 coins for my portion of the kit we agreed on. It’s more than half of my money, so make sure you don’t lose it. Be sure to get a nice, strong ass.”
Ollia: Ollia finally snapped back to reality as she heard the clink of the coins in front of her. "A-Ah, Yes, I will." She quickly grabbed the sack and put it somewhere in her bag. "I shall be on my way, then." To be fair, those sea shanties WERE catchy.
Reality Glitch: I give a puzzled look at Sochi before realizing they meant the animal, not the body part.
Sochi: “Now, all my business is taken care of... Think I’ll find a place to just lie down and wait for the others.”
Shadowhunt: The port is bustling with activity this hour of the afternoon, and not far from it rows of market stalls and other shops can be found, responsible for everything from bulk trade to traveling suplies. Further into town, as the towns preference for stone becomes clear, things become quieter. Though here in the heart of the city is where you find the guild office...
Shadowhunt: Though Captain Luz' description of it had a bit more color to it, over what it really was. Externally eyecatching, sure, but a bureaucratic interior, none the less asking about a library does yield an answer from an elderly man.
Sochi: Sochi tries to find a good napping spot near the gate leading out of the city.
Shadowhunt: (So if Ollia wants to describe their little shopping adventure go ahead.)
Shadowhunt: There are several of them, but the closest would be one of the southern gates, facing the swamp to the south.
Ollia: Ollia entered the shop district with a purpose, her objective clearly the are where they sold animals, if she was gonna get an ass, she was gonna make sure it was a damn fine ass. OF course she would also snatch the required items for the party kit on the way.
Shadowhunt: "Yes, we do have something like that, though I'm afraid most of what we have is rather dry. Just maps and contracts. You know, stuff passing traders care about." - toward Minelle
Sochi: “Mm, that doesn’t look like a good time~” He sets off for the East gate instead with a new purpose; To See If East Looks Slightly Less Like a Bad Time™.
Minelle: "Ah. Still of interest. All the same, if I was looking for local literature - history, fiction, myths and legends, that sort of thing - where would you suggest I go?"
Shadowhunt: It would take a little while to make it to the far gate, but you would notice how hilly the town itself is as you go, untill you reach the gate where you can see out into the surrounding farms, highlands as far as the eye can see, and a rather large mountain to the north. - to Sochi
Shadowhunt: Would shrug "We should have some stuff on local animals and what not, but if you want anything more juicy than academic journals, you would be better off asking the locals." - to Minelle
Sochi: “... Highlands might be best unless... Ah damn, I forgot where we were supposed to be going~ I think it was somewhere east, though, so yeah, sticking with my guns here.”
Shadowhunt: (Hey, hey DC, wanna make a spot check? [DEX]+[INT])
Sochi: (Okay?)
Sochi: !roll 1d4+1d8
DiscoDude: <@Sochi> rolled 1d4+1d8 for 8 [1d4 = 3; 1d8 = 5]
Sochi: (Is this to determine more info about the surrounds? Maybe the weather?)
Shadowhunt: After some time chilling out by the gate, you would eventually spot something moving around among the plants, until it rushes out into the open road, a canine a bit bigger than a jackal, but pretty clearly not. Probably... a mob beast? It dashes off as quick as it showed up.
Sochi: (The road outside the gate?)
Shadowhunt: "Though... there is probably one thing I should say. As of late, a paticular type of phantom beast has been trying the guilds patience, so do be careful out there." - to Minelle
Shadowhunt: (Yes.)
Sochi: “... Huh. Would you look at that. ‘Scuse me, sir?” He waves at a gate guard. “I saw a big doggo out there just now. Would you say that’s normal?”
Shadowhunt: (Ok... Sochi is hanging around the gate, Minelle is at the guild office, Irai is... where is Irai? and Ollia is doing some shopping, which I'll just say now goes off with out a hitch.)
Shadowhunt: "That, is the talk of the town of late, the nussiance of the hour, or season... they aren't that big, the hounds are bigger. But let me tell you right now there are a whole lot of more out there."
Shadowhunt: "The merchants who come in from Kiski, out there, through our gate here, won't stop complaining about them."
Sochi: “That one’s feeling awfully brave today, isn’t he? Would you say that they’re a problem regardless of where we’re heading, or is it just the highlands, I wonder?”
Shadowhunt: "Eh... I doubt they would fair well in the swamp, but there is basiclly nothing that way, unless you count Konekos as something."
Shadowhunt: Sochi: "But at least the Konekos are friendly enough."
Minelle: "Phantom beast, hmm?" Minelle smirks to herself, and puts a hand confidently on the hilt of her blade in its scabbard. "I'm rather experienced tangling with wild monsters. Is there anything more you can tell me about it?"
Sochi: “Fun! I don’t see why people see those furry little guys as nothing but pests... Oh, and I’m already aware that mountains are generally a bad idea. No plans for getting alpine gear for us. Not at the moment, anyway.”
Reality Glitch: At the service office Captain Luz pointed us towards, I inquire if there's a park or similar to relax and if pets are allowed.
Sochi: (Ah, wait, just remembered that Alpine is a separate thing from Mountain.)
Shadowhunt: To Minelle: "There are a lot of them, more then there should be this time of year, and there usually are plenty. Not much else to it."
Shadowhunt: To Sochi: "Well, you might have a worse opinion after you see how aggresive a dozen of them can be."
Shadowhunt: To Irai: The Captain would sadly point out there aren't any real parks in the city, but it isn't like most people will mind you having a pet about, even one as odd as yours.
Sochi: “And here I thought you said these ones were friendly. I guess they can be as varied as humans, those konekos. I suppose those are the two main options for travel?”
Sochi: (Part of me worries that there’s been a misunderstanding on my end.)
Shadowhunt: To sochi: "Oh, the Konekos? They are fine. I was just think about the mob beasts, they've been nothing but trouble, like I said before."
Sochi: (Aannnnd there’s been a misunderstanding.)
Sochi: (I take it Koneko is not another term for Neko-Goblins like I thought?)
Shadowhunt: (Koneko Goblins are a shorter and less aggressive varient of Neko goblins, around a meter tall.)
Sochi: “Well, I was referring to the Konekos when I said that. Real shame; they can walk and talk, and sure they often cause trouble, but pests? I suppose calling them that isn’t very common around these parts if you thought I was talking about those hounds.”
Sochi: “Anyway, good talk. I think I know what I need to know.”
Minelle: frowns. "Well. I suppose it would be best to travel in a group, then." She bows politely and takes her leave, resolving to look for her fellow passengers and see who's interested in traveling together.
Shadowhunt: As the day marches on, and the sun gets lower in the western sky, it touches the horizen, as the crowded stone buildings of Port Tarru make it almost seem like night in the the city center. The noise of the port dies down and the wind that once pushed out from the land starts to turn, coming in from the sea instead.
Shadowhunt: (I though that was already something the party figured out, but ok?)
Shadowhunt: (So, wheres the group going to sleep for the Night, a normal Inn room costs 10 gold, and should have enough beds for everyone, though it might not offer enough privacy for everyones liking.)
Sochi: (Sochi is one who appreciates privacy.)
Ollia: (Ollia couldn't care less.)
Reality Glitch: ((Privacy; though, can get away with just setting up a blanket as a temporary curtain for changing clothes.))
Minelle: (i'm fine with a communal inn room)
Shadowhunt: (Getting privacy to change clothes is easy enough, but I kinda doubt people want to sleep in their travel clothes, or maybe they do, either way, figure out what accomidations look like, and who is covering the cost.)
Sochi: (Sochi would want his own room, definitely. He doesn’t care for luxury, but privacy is a must.)
Reality Glitch: ((Sorry; spaced out a bit. I guess, I'll pay for the trio's room this first time around.))
Shadowhunt: (So two rooms? Irai is covering the first, and I guess Sochi is covering their own?)
Sochi: (Yeah, I’d be willing to pay for my own.)
Shadowhunt: (There we have it then.)
Shadowhunt: (Lets have the next days condition check.)
Shadowhunt: ([STR]+[SPI])
Minelle: !r 1d4+1d4
DiscoDude: <@Minelle> rolled 1d4+1d4 for 5 [1d4 = 1; 1d4 = 4]
Sochi: !roll 1d4+1d8
DiscoDude: <@Sochi> rolled 1d4+1d8 for 7 [1d4 = 4; 1d8 = 3]
Reality Glitch: !r 1d4+1d8
DiscoDude: <@Reality Glitch> rolled 1d4+1d8 for 2 [1d4 = 1; 1d8 = 1]
Sochi: (Oh wow, I just noticed how scary your condition DC is, Ryu.)
Ollia: !roll 1d8+1d4
DiscoDude: <@Ollia> rolled 1d8+1d4 for 6 [1d8 = 4; 1d4 = 2]
Sochi: (And oh no...)
Shadowhunt: Minelle 5, Sochi 7, Irai Fumble, Ollia 6
Reality Glitch: ((Allergies....))
Shadowhunt: Lets start will the worst, looks like Irai had a bad night.
Shadowhunt: Can you describe that for us RG, just what Irai's morning looks like?
Reality Glitch: I groan sitting up to get out of bed. It was so much stiffer than I'd initially thought.
Shadowhunt: Hay Fever, you'll also get Muddled 4 in addition to your condition of 2.
Reality Glitch: Almost like it was just a wooden plank for the mattress.
Shadowhunt: (Wait, is it allergies or something else?)
Reality Glitch: (("Allergies" was just a joke. Sorry for not being clear about that.))
Shadowhunt: (Then... lets say Injury 4 if Irai feels stiff from... I guess the bed didn't work too well for them.)
Shadowhunt: (Also, Everyone gets a fumble point, moving on, what about Minelle, she isn't in bad condition exactly, but it was just a tad sub standard.)
Minelle: (well, you're the GM)
Minelle: (what happens to her?)
Sochi: (Not sure if a reaction from everyone for every roll is quite necessary?)
Shadowhunt: (I know, Sochi and Ollia got above average and above rolls, but Minelle didn't.
I am the GM, but this one instance I'm asking you what her condition roll looks like, unless you really just want me to fill in the gap.)
Minelle: (righto, so)
Minelle: wakes up groggy. The bed is not as nice as what she's used to. Just another hazard of the road to deal with.
Shadowhunt: And then the Sochi and Ollia do just fine. Unless there is something their players want to add.
Sochi: Sochi knocks on the others’ door. “I’m ready to head out when you guys are. We just need to decide on a destination.”
Reality Glitch: "Uuhhhh........ I did not get sleep last night."
Sochi: “Sorry to hear it, but I dunno if we should delay setting out any further just because you’re tired.”
Sochi: (Was food for yesterday hand-waved?)
Minelle: gives Irai a worried look, but tells Sochi: "I've heard that monster activity in the vicinity is unusually high. Are you confident in your combat skills?"
Shadowhunt: (Effectively)
Minelle: She poses the question to Sochi, but anyone is free to respond.
Sochi: shrugs. “If it comes to that, perhaps~ I take it the plan is to head towards Kiski? I heard there was a Koneko tribe further south we could try instead.”
Ollia: Ah, Ollia was slowly waking up, huming a tune as she overheard the conversation the others were having. "I trust my skill with the axe and sword, if you are worried about ruffians."
Shadowhunt: At this point you would hear a rather loud bang from a door, based off where it came from the front door, someone huffing for a moment before exasperated chatter.
Minelle: "...who do you imagine that is?"
Reality Glitch: I'm startled to an alert state. "We should probably check that out." I say before rushing downstairs to see what happened.
Sochi: (A literal “bang,” or just a banging?)
Shadowhunt: (Like someone shoved a door open as quick as they could.)
Reality Glitch: ((Like the door being thrown open as someone bursts into the room.))
Sochi: “Sounds serious, whatever it is~” Sochi makes no move to head down, personally.
Minelle: follows Irai.
Shadowhunt: Those who go down stairs would see a small Neko-goblin, probably a Koneko, chatting with the Inn Keeper.
Reality Glitch: "We heard a commotion! Is some thing amiss?"
Sochi: (Define “same.”)
Sochi: (Did you mean sane?)
Shadowhunt: "...ow if any body from the passanger ship has stayed here, people stopped leaving after th... Sorry, just... just looking for something."
Shadowhunt: At that the Inn keep would just shrug if you gave them a glance.
Minelle: blinks. "Er. The two of us came aboard the passenger ship," she volunteers, perhaps unwisely.
Shadowhunt: "Oh, then... you probably are gonna leave town soon right? To Kiski?"
Ollia: Ollia meanwhile, was searching for her sword upstairs, she was sure she left it somewhere.
Reality Glitch: "I don't think we had a destination in mind, but otherwise: yeah."
Shadowhunt: "Not exatly much else humans go to from here. So it is kinda easy to guess... But not the point."
Reality Glitch: "Oh?"
Minelle: "What's a Kiski?" Minelle says, befuddled.
Reality Glitch: "A town, obviously."
Reality Glitch: "Or some sort of location."
Shadowhunt: "I've been stuck here for a while since the mob beasts... Kiski is the town out east, most merchants coming from inland pass through there to here."
Reality Glitch: I quirk an eyebrow; "You asking for an escort?"
Shadowhunt: "Naturally most people heading inland need to pass through Kiski first, regardless. Kinda, I can't exactly afford bodyguards like the merchant caravans, not exactly that important."
Minelle: "Would you object to coming with a band of decently-armed travelers, then?"
Reality Glitch: I turn to Minelle; "I wouldn't mind them tagging along. We'll need to ask the others, though."
Minelle: "Ah, true."
Shadowhunt: Now that you've had a chance to get a good look at them, Sumi has completely black fur, and is rather well-ish dressed, nothing too fancy, but it is all together a rather cute clothing set.
"That was the goal."
Ollia: Finally, Ollia comes down with sword and shield in each hand, she takes a look around and after looking at Sumi for an extended period of time, asks: "I take it was the Koneko that made the loud sound then?"
Minelle: "They're looking for an escort to Kiski, in the east. I imagine we could probably oblige them?"
Ollia: "If they have their own supplies, then I see no issue with it."
Shadowhunt: would nod "The only reason I haven't left already is just that I couldn't safely do so."
Shadowhunt: "So if it is ok, I'll just follow you."
Reality Glitch: I shrug. "Sure."
Minelle: "Splendid!" She turns excitedly to Irai: "This will be an opportunity to learn more about these lands as we travel!"
Sochi: Sochi follows Ollia down, stretching and yawning as he goes.
Sochi: He takes notice of Sumi.
Sochi: *headpat*
Sochi: “A’ight, shall we be off?”
Reality Glitch: "I'd ask first, before just touching someone like that."
Shadowhunt: "I actually know a bit abo-" Sumi would duck and weave to avoid being pet.
Minelle: chuckles at Sumi's dodge.
Minelle: "My friend would probably do the same."
Ollia: "I suppose it was bound to happen." she sighs at the head pat attwmpt, to be fair she would have done the same if she didn't have full equipment on her.
Sochi: Sochi himself seems nonplussed about the dodge.
Shadowhunt: !end
