Behind the slasher, something dark reared. It was the adolescent kong coming from the jungle on the other side of the lagoon, Ishara saw, still alive, though torn and bleeding. The slasher, turning to flee from the thunder-sticks, ran straight into it. The kong, its eyes mad with pain and anger, grabbed the dinosaur, lifted it clear off the ground, and broke its back. It flung the body against the rocks, and then turned and faded into the underbrush, not seeing, or not caring about, those who witnessed the confrontation from behind trees and bushes.
