- Praises
- 1) clicking x button on program puts it in a “system tray” (suspends instead of closing the application)
- 2) genie effect minimize animation
- 3) it has apple services that work well with my phone like iMessages and apple passwords
- 4) the ui looks better than windows (and really every os I’ve every used) and the ui is very consistent which greatly contrasts with windows, where the ui is quite inconsistent
- 5) program installers automatically move to trash after installing
- 6) any zip files that you download automatically extract immediately after downloading
- 7) the App Store is much better than the Microsoft store and Linux stores
- 8) apps have to ask for permission to send notifications, access different folders like downloads and desktop, and for a host of other things, while on windows all of these are automatically granted
- 9) macos is ok with me using chrome or a browser other than safari, whereas windows harasses me about edge
- 10) macos allows for the creation of a local account easily, while windows does not
- Complaints
- 1) window management is poor
- 2) gaming performance is very bad
- 3) program compatibility is great but worse than windows, especially with niche apps
- 4) it’s only designed to work with macs, instead of installable on anything like windows. This is by far my biggest complaint because it’s a pain in the ass to get it to work on pc
- 5) Xcode is locked to mac only, cutting off like 94% of people
- 6) commands in general like alt tab and the placement of the ctrl button are annoying and have to be rebound otherwise my windows muscle memory will press the wrong keys
- 7) no clipboard history
- 8) icloud keychain doesn't autofill passwords in browsers other than safari, even though ios uses apple keychain in all browsers and apps
- 9) some buttons in macos are small and difficult to click
