  1. [8:46:36 PM] insomniacMercury: Karkat wrung his hands a bit, pacing around the floor of his respiteblock. Well, he'd had a nightmare. Which wasn't unusual, but they weren't usually so... awful? He felt sort-of like a wiggler being so upset about it, but when he'd seen it in the real life already, dreaming about it was even more upsetting. Considering his 'pan could make things seem ten times worse without doing much, it left a lot of room for terrible 'creativity'. The question was, though, should he do something about it? Was Sollux okay? Should he worry? ....he decided it was okay to worry, and opened his husktop. Sollux was online.

  3. CG: HEY.
  4. CG: ARE YOU THERE?
  5. CG: I REALLY HOPE YOU ARE.
  6.
  7. [8:59:41 PM ] Adel: Sollux slumped against his couch, sliding down in a mirthless manner. Tonight, along with many others nights, was one where he could not find sleep as an option. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to, but ever since the chain of events following Jack Noir everyone has been on their toes. Sollux pulled up his husktop for some late-night coding, hoping the numbers would keep his mind distracted from the problems at hand as a yellow light beamed in the right hand corner of his screen.

  10. CG: HEY.
  11. CG: ARE YOU THERE?
  12. CG: I REALLY HOPE YOU ARE.
  13.
  14. Sollux raised an eyebrow as he drew his thinkpan together, curious yet passive.
  15. TA: KK don’t fliip your 2hiit.
  16. TA: what’2 up
  17. [9:07:18 PM] insomniacMercury: He scowled at the reply, but was a little more hurt than anything else. How often did he actually willingly talk to Sollux without a good reason? He kinda... maybe should have worked on that a little. For as much as he cared about Sollux, he could have been nicer to him.
  18.
  19. CG: WHO'S FLIPPING ANYTHING?
  20. CG: THERE ARE NO FLIPPED SHITS HERE, ASSHOLE.
  21. CG: BUT UH
  22. CG: ANYWAYS
  23.
  24. He suddenly felt really stupid. About everything. About the dream, about being so upset about it. It wasn't like him, at least, to complain about it. Or feel so upset. He was really upset. His fingers were actually trembling as he hit the keys.
  25.
  26. CG: ARE YOU OKAY?
  27. CG: LIKE
  28. CG: ACTUALLY OKAY? I'M GETTING A SHITTY FEELING THAT YOU'RE NOT OKAY.
  29. CG: WHICH IS REALLY STUPID BUT I JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE.
  30. CG: AS YOUR LEADER AND ALL.
  31.
  32. "And your best friend," he mumbled to himself under his breath.
  33.
  34. [9:21:41 PM] Adel: TA: you 2eem a liitle on edge
  35. TA: more than normal anyway
  36.
  37. Sollux refrained from posting a witty remark. This wasn’t like a normal chat—if there ever was one. Contact had been shorter than it used to and the fact that Karkat started the conversation raised questioning by itself. Under his gut he felt something uneasy settling into his stomach, and tired as he was, it felt better just to go along.

  39. TA: yeah iim fiine ii gue22
  40. TA: ju2t thii2 whole jack thiing plu2 other concern2 are keeping me up
  41. TA: thii2 whole 2e22iion ii2 spiiraliing iinto non2en2e
  42. TA: ..are you ok?
  43.
  44. Sollux took into account that everyone’s behavior would be a little off, with lack of communication here and there, plus the stress of even making it through this session alive, anyone would be a little uneasy. Karkat though had a special relation to Sollux. He genuinely trusted Karkat, and even though they were assholes to eachother here and there-- underneath there was a deeper understanding. Sollux began to nibble on his bottom lip while watching the blinking cursor in the chatbox, waiting for a response.
