- And then he raised the shotgun again.

- As Gorgon went blasting through the air, Clark rose groggily from his fallen position, blinking twice as he heard the distant sound of the stand user crashing into a wall on the other side of the convention hall. Something felt extremely wrong, and it was in the course of blinking to try and clear his vision that he realised what was missing.
- Raising a hand to the side of his face, Clark tentatively poked and prodded. Instead of blood as he’d feared or skin as he’d hoped, there was only a cool smooth surface that hummed slightly as he touched it. He’d know the sensation anywhere after this much experimentation: there was a thin layer of [DESIGN] coating one side of his face. He’d always wondered why it wouldn’t cover his head, and it looked like he’d finally gotten his answer.
- The stand had guarded him above the neck the whole time. It had just done so underneath the skin instead of over it.
- Which led Clark to his next discovery.
- At least for the moment, he was blind in one eye.
- The reason being that said eye was entirely missing.
