As though none of it had happened, Khaan took in a great lungful of air. The limitless ocean, silver beneath the morning sun, shone unbroken in the sky. Only two ships, both so distant they were only specks, were visible of all the great fleet.
Relieved that Khaan had calmed down and did not pound the ground in anger as was his usual reaction–the deck in this case–which would have shattered into splinters. He must have sensed that, he thought.
