Kong brought the carcass to his nostrils, again sniffing curiously, and gave vent to a sound that might have been disgust or displeasure. The smell did not appeal to his appetite, voracious as it was.
With a careless toss, Kong flung the rhinoceros to the dirt, where it landed amid the disturbed ostriches, which had risen to their feet. They looked about wildly, mesmerized by the titanic struggle.
The great carcass landed hard, smashed one ostrich to a pulp, while the others scattered in all directions, their precious eggs forgotten.
