- GM: So! A person has been murdered! Who wants to provide the first piece of their profile?
- Pirrue: you can
- GM: Alright, but first... Let's make this a Floraverse murder. Twin Luxuries?
- GM: Does that sound good?
- GM: Forgot that we needed to establish an agreed upon setting, first.
- Pirrue: sounds good, sounds good
- Shadowhunt: The Floraverse would be that setting.
- GM: Alrighty! Since I put forward the idea for our setting, my first detail will be minor; the victim's name, which shall be Tobias Grim!
- GM: Who's next?
- GM: Details can include occupation, age, place of residence, and in this setting, species.
- Shadowhunt: I'll go next
- GM: Other details are also acceptable, as long as they don't pertain to the murder directly.
- GM: We're looking to profile the victim, first.
- Shadowhunt: Tobais Grim was not a resident of the region, but had traveled there recently for what seemed to be a vacation.
- Shadowhunt: Someone should probably be putting this down on a google doc or something.
- GM: Right. On it.
- GM: https://docs.google.com/document/d/19lnJ2zHIOw90KjuVDjNEzTTaNqTjxihkG84219oO24U
- GM:
- Pirrue: Tobias Grim had recently come into a surprising amount of money, which allowed him to take the vacation in the first place.
- GM: (I think that's a clue, not part of his profile.)
- Pirrue: how's that a clue-not-part-of-profile if Shadowhunt's is/isn't?
- GM: "Tourist" is a simple roll that isn't likely to be related to the crime.
- Pirrue: what about "nouveau-riche"?
- GM: Not sure what that means. Anyways, I still think "came into a lot of money" sounds like a clue, right?
- GM: We're looking for the stuff you'd fill out on an ID form.
- GM: <@!Pirrue>?
- Pirrue: i'm drawing blanks for anything interesting to add
- Shadowhunt: Age, family, occupation
- GM: It doesn't have to be interesting.
- Pirrue: *fine.* He was a janitor.
- GM: Alright.
- Shadowhunt: Pets, race, ability, yeah that works
- Pirrue: on a vacation to the Twin Luxuries so *zing,* I got my clue in anyway
- GM: I'll say he was a Rock Candies.
- GM: (BTW, once everyone has gone once, they can choose to drop out. Once everyone has dropped out, the phase ends, and we move on to the next one.)
- GM:
- Shadowhunt: Then I'll say that he has a wife and child, both of which have accompnied him.
- GM: Alright. Ryusui? Have you got anything more to add, or are you dropping out?
- GM: <@!Pirrue>?
- Pirrue: dropping
- GM: Alright... I'm gonna say that whatever the age scale is for candies, he was somewhere in the "middle aged" range.
- Shadowhunt: Hmm... would saying, that as a rock candies he was weak to hypnosis, count a clue or profile?
- GM: Well, it wouldn't need to be stated, then?
- GM: You can deduce that in the main phase if you feel it's important.
- GM: So are you dropping, or do you still have more to add?
- Shadowhunt: Rock Candies are either paticularly weak or resistant to hypnosis, and if that isn't a profile bit then...
- GM: <@!Pirrue>: Do *you* think this is a profile bit, or a clue?
- Shadowhunt: Clue
- GM: Ah, okay.
- GM: And while it *is* an intangible clue, it should be fairly simple to explain how the police found out about it; medical conditions, common or no, aren't exactly immune from the law's intrusion.
- GM: So... dropping? Or is there something else?
- Shadowhunt: Ok, instead, His gems are all a rather lovely ruby hue, and his tail has several well shaped hexaginal crystals
- GM: And I'll be dropping.
- Shadowhunt: Same, I am satisfied with his state.
- GM: Alright, now we move on to phase 2; the briefing of the crime.
- GM: Time and cause of death, the location and condition of the body, the circumstances surrounding it all. We start with <@!Pirrue>, then me, then <@Shadowhunt>: From the first to drop, to the last.
- Pirrue: Found on the concrete near the pool at a fancy hotel, directly under an open window, with all the accoutrements you'd expect from a twenty-floor drop.
- GM: (Hm... That's stretching the boundary between "location" and "state"...)
- Pirrue: oh, i thought you were listing those as one thing
- Shadowhunt: I was worried you would swing for a more specific kill, it is pretty ambiguous actually
- GM: Nope.
- Shadowhunt: The fall could conceal alot
- GM: Location and condition are separate. Sorry for confusing you.
- GM: So, want to try that again?
- GM: (And yes, time and cause are meant to be separate, too.)
- Pirrue: Fine. On the concrete by the pool at a fancy hotel, directly under an open window twenty floors up.
- GM: Cause of death is massive blunt force trauma. Likely falling, but not confirmed.
- Shadowhunt: The open window isn't to a regular room but a lobby, in this case one of several small free breakfast areas with a good view.
- GM: (Um... That's a clue. And Ryusui already said the window was 20 stories up.)
- GM: (Eh, I'll strike that part, too, to be fair. What floor the window was on doesn't have much to do with where the body was.)
- Shadowhunt: Yeah, I just figured he never specified the room.
- GM: ... Okay. That's still a clue, though.
- GM: We've yet to conclude that he actually fell from the window, so where that window is has no bearing on the initial setup.
- GM: (Unless it ties in with how the body was discovered.)
- GM: (Also, why the hell would there be a lobby on the twentieth floor? XD)
- Shadowhunt: (I can think of at least a few excuses, not the least of which is for the view)
- GM: (Alright, I concede that. But still, as it is, this is too clue-like...?)
- GM: (In case you guys haven't guessed, now is not the time for meta-gaming. XD)
- Shadowhunt: Anyway, the estimated death is some time between 1:30 A.M. and 2:00 A.M.
- GM: Alright. <@!Pirrue>?
- Shadowhunt: (Yeah, I was already coming up with something different, I just wanted to point out that it wasn't crazy)
- Pirrue: uhhhhhhhh
- Pirrue: i drop
- GM: Oh, okay. My turn, then.
- GM: The body had broken bones in several places, and several lacerations caused by what seems to be broken glass. His face is contorted in fear.
- GM: (Is that too much? I figured this is sort of what I meant by "the condition of the body".)
- Shadowhunt: (I kinda figured that was in line with what seemed to kill them)
- GM: (Anyways, your turn.)
- Shadowhunt: Drop
- GM: Okay.
- Shadowhunt: wait
- GM: ?
- Shadowhunt: Yeah, actually drop.
- GM: Alright.
- Shadowhunt: I was thinking of specifing east or west luxury
- GM: The body was discovered by a woman as she went out to bathe in the pool, at around 6:30 a.m.
- GM: And drop.
- Shadowhunt: Ok, then I'm gonna guess the suspect order starts with me then Pirrue then finally you?
- GM: Pirrue, then you, then me. The order in which we dropped. Honestly, it doesn't matter here. Just name your suspect, and their (non-hidden) relevance to the crime.
- GM: <@!Pirrue>, you start; who is your suspect, and how are they related to the victim or his death?
- Pirrue: Fine. Della Grim, victim's wife.
- GM: Alright, now for <@Shadowhunt>.
- Shadowhunt: Ebbot Mitrij, stayed in the same hotel, and tried to leave in quite a hurry later that same night.
- GM: (Curious; what species is he? I have a better time visualizing flora characters when I know their species.)
- Shadowhunt: Rock Candies
- GM: (Maybe species is a required field in this setting?)
- GM: Oh. So someone who could have definitely known the victim from back home. :3
- Shadowhunt: Could have.
- GM: This vanguard/candies mix only has the name Shia, and she was the one that discovered the body when she went out for her morning swim.
- Shadowhunt: (Huh, that is a wierd mix...)
- GM: (So, question; should we hold off at this point, and wait for another night to continue?)
- Shadowhunt: (Vanguard are mimics of everything aquatic, and Rock Candies are known for disliking water if I remember right?)"
- GM: (We are approaching antimagic hour real soon.)
- GM: (Also, I admit it; she's an Imp.)
- Shadowhunt: (Don't change it on account of me, I said it was wierd, not impossible.)
- GM: (Oh, alright.)
- Shadowhunt: (Also, antimagic? I you mean dangerously close to sanity lose by sleep deprivation, then yeah, I guess so.)
- GM: (Uhuh. We're not there yet, but this is a much better place to cut it short than in the middle of the main game.)
- GM: (You good with that, <@!Pirrue>?)
- Pirrue: (sure)
- GM: (Then for now, let us...)
- GM: !end
