Most modern debit cards feature both a chip (for insertion) and contactless technology (for tapping) due to convenience and security improvements. However, some smaller or regional banks might still issue cards without these features, or a card could lack tapping functionality if it's an older card. If your card lacks these features, contacting your bank for an updated card is usually a simple solution.
