- Yuahro left the corpse of his latest kill and carried his trophy off into the night with a satisfied roar. His first solo hunt-a test of his skills every Yautja Youngblood faced-had occurred without problems. His mother had been worried because he was younger than most who went off solo, but Yuahro protested. He was ready.
- His father, T'an'tath, had laughed. "He's got the family blood," he roared. Yuahro came from a long line of honored Hunters. No bad bloods or missteps among them. "He'll make us proud!" So Yuahro had gone solo, and now he would prove himself. So far he'd bagged two large predators-one a cat, and now an antlered animal and he was feeling quite proud.-pg.57 chpt.3
