- They seemed to dance through the mass of Xenomorphs. Budanov knew some basic martial arts, but some of his unit were experts in many facets of hand-to-hand combat, and he always marveled when he watched them training. The power and strength, the economy and grace of each movement, left him in awe. The ancient arts were still practiced-karate, ju jitsu, various tai chi forms-but so were more modern methods, many of them developed over the past few centuries to adapt to new situations and
- environments. Combat in weightlessness called for a very particular set of talents, and differing gravities imposed unusual and challenging demands on the physiologies of space travelers and soldiers.
- The Yautja were something else altogether. It was as if they used gravity as their own plaything, jumping through the air to meet Xenomorphs mid-leap, slashing them apart and using the momentum of their impact to change direction, dropping gracefully to the ground and attacking again. There were no wasted movements. If Xenomorphs were nature's perfect killing machines, then the Yautja were their perfect counterparts. For the first time, Budanov imagined a true war between humanity and the Yautja. If he were a betting man, he knew who his money would be on. With their high-tech ships and guns, combat suits and computers,
- humankind had lost the true fighting instinct.-pg.253-254 chpt.21
