- \tab In 1996 Google started out as a small search engine called MyBackRub, started by Larry Page and Sergy Brin. \cite{GoogHistory:2011:Online} MyBackRub had operated on Stanford Servers for about a year before taking up to much bandwidth. In 1997 both Larry and Sergy decided that MyBackRub needed a new name, they decided on the term Google a play on the word googol which reflects their task of orgnizing thousands of webpages by revelance. \cite {GoogHistory:2011:Online} As of September 2011 Google now has 14,500 employees.
- Google has acquired a large number of companies, some of the more important ones are YouTube, AdWords, AdSense, Aardvark, and Picsa. YouTube is a site where users can upload videos of just about anything that doesn't violate Google's Terms of Service. \cite{GoogTOS:2010:Online} Google AdSense is a program that allows publishers to earn revenue by displaying relvent ads on the search reslults page. \cite{AdSense:2010:Online} GoogleAdwords allows web publishers to advertise their website no matter what their budget. \cite{AdWords:2010:Online} Aardvark is a soical search that allows users to connect with friends or friends of friends. \cite{Aardvark:2010:Online}
- Yahoo started out as a student hobby in 1994 that has turned into a brand that changed the way people communicate. \cite{YahooHist:2011:Online} This hobby was collecting bookmarks of students at Stanford and putting them into a directory tree.
- Yahoo also has had quite a number of Acquisitions. Some of the more important ones include, Flicker, a photo sharing website, MyBlogLog, a service for writeing personal Blogs, and Sportsy, a sports service website.

- \tab Both Google and Yahoo have quite a number of products. Some of the more important products Google provides are Websearch, Chrome, gmail, and maps for mobile.\cite{ProductsG:2011:Online} Some simlar products Yahoo provides are a web search, and Yahoo Mail.\cite{ProductsY:2011:Online}

- \tab Google and Yahoo are both in the same Industry, Software Products and Services. The major companys that Google has competition with are Microsoft and Yahoo. Yahoo Has competition with Microsoft and Google.

- Yahoo is currently searching for a new CEO. \cite{NewCEO:2011:Online} Ever since Carol Bartz left Yahoo, Yahoo's stock has been going up.

- \tab Over the last five years Google's stock price has been going up. \cite{GooG:2011:Online} Yahoo's stock price has been going down over the last five years.\cite{YHOO:2011:Online} Compared to the S\&P 500 Index, Yahoo and Google have been doing worse than the overall market. \cite{SnP:2011:Online}
- As of October 27, 2007 Google's stock price was \$475.20 while Yahoo's Stock price was \$25.34. On October 24, 2008 Google had a stock price of \$372.54 while Yahoo had a stock price of \$12.10. As of October 28 2011 Yahoo had a price \$16.56 while Google had a stock price of \$599.53.

- Google makes more money off of their sales as shown in table 2. Yahoo makes about Eight dollars less than Google. Google and Yahoo have no inventories to sell. As for pirce earnings Google and Yahoo earn about the same amount of money.

- \tab Google has plants world wide. Google has spread their markets from the America's to Japan. Yahoo only has a small portion of the worldwide audance. Yahoo also doesn't have as many plants as Google has.

- \tab I believe that Google is doing better because ``Google'' has become a generic term for look it up on the Internet. However, you never hear sombody say, ``I'm going to go Yahoo it''. As you can see from Table 2, Yahoo has about 2 times more money than debt. While Google as 5 times more money than debt.
- As you can see from table 4 above google has a positive Earnings per share growth in the last five years where Yahoo's Earnings per share has declined.
