WordPress shortcode structure will change. From existing '[shortcode]' structure it will become [{{shortcode}}]. This will happen from WordPress Core Version 4.4 to 4.7. There will be failback, and one version will contain function to update all existing posts to use new shortcode structure. Its not a sudden change, it will give plugin developer enough time to implement those changes. This is still in planning phase and proposed, and likely it will happen. I understand its necessary change, and this is allow us bring more functionalities in WordPress as whole, but its a big change, lots of stuff will break, because the affect is just too big. Lets hope we could plan it accordingly. All WP Developer should keep an eye on this discussion to stay up-to-date!
