  1. DiscoDude: **---BEGIN SESSION---**
  2. DiscoDude: **Session logging commenced**
  3. Kras-GM: And so it begins our Season 2, episode 1 of Dream Dungeon!
  4. Kras-GM: Some disclaimers:
  5. Kras-GM: Players may change characters between sessions, and even tweak existing characters without restriction.
  6. Kras-GM: Character progression is... Not currently being considerated, but it is not beyond the realm of possibility
  7. Kras-GM: Consequences will not last between sessions
  8. Kras-GM: And... The Dream Dungeon is a dreary place, full of tricks and traps. If you die in the Dream Dungeon...
  9. There's always another day
  10. it is a dream after all
  11. Kras-GM: But it can be a bit gut-puncher at places, if you know what I mean
  12. Kras-GM: So, if your character gets what you feel is an unfair demise... Just remember that your character will be back on the next session.
  13. Kras-GM: Alright.
  14. Phew.
  15. Kras-GM: With this out of the way, <@!Kyben> , <@!Sarah> and <@!Rotha> . Please, describe your character's pre-sleep routine, along with describing themselves... As well as providing a link to their sheets.
  16. All in a neat, single post, so it doesn't run the risk of getting broken up.
  17. Kras-GM: Oh, yeah, and we are currently using FATE CORE, even that may change.
  18. Sarah: Sarah slips under the covers of a wide bed. Ned (Nade? Nev? Sarah hopes she won't have to say his name when she gets up) was already in his bed, apparently already tuckered out from their *cough* playtime. She decides she might as well join him. Sure, she could regenerate herself awake and alert for the fifth night in a row, but sleep was cozy sometimes - especially when you have a big fluffy turf tiger to cuddle with. Sarah drapes an arm over his shoulder, and snuggles in tight, letting herself drift into a calm slumber. (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1WASoZQ-rvsYvofpKdNlXA0s5BUz-4XlOa0qAPKBSjv4/edit?usp=sharing)
  19. Kras-GM: ( <@!Sarah> , if you could edit the link to your sheet to go along with your post, that would be very much appreciated.)(Thanks)
  20. Rotha: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1cpu1MOgZphv0kOxzFcVBO6rxq7vLZSJk_1ehO1LkN-w/edit
  21. Rotha adjusts the picture of her great uncle Dave hanging over the bed in her little trailer. Or was it her good ol' grandpa Jim? Maybe not-so-bright-but-still-beloved cousin Daryl? She's never been one to sweat the details, even regarding close family relations, but she's reasonably certain the picture of the smiling rock candies in thick glasses is of someone worth enshrining in her home. After she's happy it's just the right degree of crooked, she strips down to her well-worn underwear, flicks on the mirror, and watches reruns of 30-year-old comedies until she passes out for the night.
  22. Rotha: (<@!Kyben>?)
  23. Kras-GM: ( <@!Kyben> is outsourcing spell-check)
  24. Kyben: A tired Kyben checks his compact for a few minutes amidst the cool darkness of his bedroom, which turns into a few hours of lurking forums and reading the news he was too busy to check while on the latest war, scheming a reasonable plan for his team to deal with a very annoying group of magic tigers, once realising how much time he spent on his comp though, he turns it off, and as soon as the light of the device dims out, he falls asleep.....like that. Thankfully the compact is not made out of some cheap material, and will probably withstand falling off his hands into the ground.
  25. (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1hrOEn3n8BV26mF8PRY19AP4HGuLEecG_GVL4FwtiLjU/edit)
  26. Kras-GM: And with that done
  27. Kras-GM: Suddenly, you notice that you are not where you had settled to rest anymore, but, rather, that you are all inside a completely sterile-white subway car, with the only things breaking the “theme color” being the other passengers and the darkness outside. The other passengers, of course, the other Player Characters, if that wasn’t clear.
  28.
  29. Before there is much you can do, you hear a feminine voice: “Next stop, Dream Dungeon. All non-employees will have to leave at this stop, including the -three- passengers in the blank car. Whose names are… Currently unknown, currently unknown and currently unknown.” That last part sounded a lot like one of those pre-recorded messages, not that the rest didn't as well…
  30. Rotha: It's at least a minute before Rotha finally says, "I don't remember gettin' on this train car."
  31. Kras-GM: (If that wasn't clear, you are free to interact)
  32. Kyben: Kyben blinks a few times, before it hit him that he didn't knew where he was, who were this people alongside him, and who was that voice. "Huh?! Where in *hellside* am I?!?"
  33. Rotha: "I just said we're on a train. Sheesh," Rotha says, as if she just explained all his questions in one go.
  34. Sarah: *Sarah hops onto the ceiling as soon as she 'wakes up', and scurries around, examining her surroundings. She quickly realizes that she's not in immediate danger, though a magical song is blaring in her six ears. *Something* to do with mind magic, she can tell, but it's an extremely sophisticated spell, and she can't seem to affect it.*
  35. Kras-GM: Wait, you leave the subway car?
  36. Rotha: "Hoo-ee, that's a parlor trick. Or maybe I just ate the wrong mushrooms for dinner." She burps loudly without apology.
  37. Rotha: (we're all still in the subway car i think)
  38. Kras-GM: (oh, the UNDERSIDE of the ceiling)
  39. Kras-GM: (Derp)
  40. Sarah: (Hanging from the ceiling, yeah.)
  41. Kras-GM: (That explains why it sounded janky)
  42. Kras-GM: (But it is actually alright)
  43. Kyben: Kyben turns around to face Rotha "What are you even- Who are you?!" He suddenly takes a few steps away from Sarah, *as a precaution.*
  44. Sarah: *"Hello, my name's Sarah. I'm a bounty hunter with a lot of tentacles," Sarah says. She offers a flippery hand out to Kyben.*
  45. Rotha: "What's wrong with ya? Do I have blood all over my face again?"
  46. Sarah: *"No, but that sounds like a very interesting story," Sarah says.*
  47. Rotha: (Rotha was addressing Kyben)
  48. Sarah: (Also, can I spend a fate point to get Sarah's armor aspect?)
  49. Kras-GM: (You may at any moment at any scene. But I would not suggest you did right now, since there is no combat. but, there is nothing stopping you, <@!Sarah> .)
  50. Kyben: Kyben does not accept that...."hand" instead, he decides to illuminate Rotha on what is 'Wrong' : "You don't see we are on some freaky snow-white train? You yourself said you didn't remember getting in this 'Train', Well, *neither do I!* "
  51. Sarah: *"You're leaving me hanging here. In a matter of speaking," Sarah says.*
  52. *Despite her jovial attitude, Sarah takes a moment to activate her healing abilities. This -was- feaking weird, and Sarah figures a little mana cost was worth the security.*
  53. Kras-GM: (I am ready to begin the next step)
  54. Kras-GM: (anyone want to say something before the conversation is likely cut short?)
  55. Kyben: *Kyben glances at Sarah* "T-thats a tentacle, im not touching *any* tentacles"
  56. Sarah: *"It's a medical condition," Sarah says.*
  57. Kras-GM: Without warning, the subway car you are in comes to a sudden stop and its doors fly open. “We have arrived at... Dream Dungeon. All non-employees will have to leave at this stop, including the -three- passengers in the blank car. Please leave now, before the blank car rearranges itself to force your decision.” Beyond the door is a plain wooden door. It doesn’t seem to have a lock. Yes, the subway car’s doors opened DIRECTLY to another door.
  58. Rotha: _looks around. "You think they mean us?"_
  59. Sarah: *Sarah takes a quick glance around, and drops down from the ceiling. "Well, I'd hate to make our host mad," Sarah says. She walks over to the door, opens it, and walks inside - immediately jumping onto the wall behind her once she's through.*
  60. Kras-GM: (Sarah is somewhere I'd like to describe once all players are through the door)
  61. Kyben: *"Who else do you think they are referring to?* Im not leaving this place until I get answers, where are we?!"
  62. Rotha: _shrugs and follows without another word._
  63. Kras-GM: "-One passenger- remains inside the blank car." A voice echoes inside the subway car "The blank car will begin rearranging itself now.". And, as soon as it finishes, the car begins to shrink, the further walls slowly closing in on eachother.
  64. Kyben: "H-HEY, THE FUCK IS THIS THING DOING!" *Kyben instinctively runs towards the door, suddenly it looks more compelling than the train that is about to crush him*
  65. Kras-GM: And, just like that... Sudden text dump...
  66. Kras-GM: You all arrive inside the Tavern (Or what appears to be a tavern). It has around eight round tables placed in the communal area, with four to eight chairs around each table. There is a considerably large counter with several bar stools in front of it and a large collection of beverages in the shelfs in the wall behind it. There seems to be a Sea Dragon tending to the counter, wearing an attire you would expect on a tavernkeep.
  67.
  68. In the corner, left to the counter, there is a set of stairs going up, and another set, beneath this one, going down. In the other corner, right to the counter, there seems to be a nice looking wooden door, there is a “Restrict access” plaque on it.
  69.
  70. There is one painting on the wall, it seems to descipts two individuals managing to break free from the tentacles of a large Sack Jelly, one of them seems to be a male Vanguard CatFish with both catfish and feline features, who is dragging a female Flowercat/Singing Rabbat hybrid by the arm. There is a plaque below the image.
  71.
  72. As you come inside, you notice that the wooden door closes behind you, and fuses into the wall, disappearing completely. The Sea Dragon turns to the lot of you, he flashes a large smile as he readily sets three mugs on the counter. “Ah! Welcome! Welcome to the Rest and Respite, Solace and Sleep tavern! And welcome to the Dream Dungeon itself! You must be curious about all this is about, right?”
  73. Rotha: "Oh, hey there, barkeep! Gimme three steins of ya best!" She turns to the others: "You guys want anything?"
  74. Sarah: *"Curious. -Bit- of an understatement," Sarah says, "What are you doing to our heads?"*
  75. Kyben: *"Oh, I am more than curious"*
  76. Kras-GM: "Well. I assure you, your heads remains where they belong." the Sea Dragon answers Sarah, before turning to Rotha "Usually I charge for those, but, this time... This time is a very special time, so, I will be serving you three for free... For ONE drink."
  77. Rotha: Rotha's smile turns upside down. "Cheapskate," she mutters.
  78. Kras-GM: The Sea Dragon begins to fill the mug for Rotha "Well, maybe instead of waiting for you to articulate questions, maybe I should just begin telling you where you are... Yes?"
  79. Rotha: "Hey, how about I tell *you* about this one time I got into a footrace against a tractor? Lost, of course, but lemme tell you *what* a loss it was!"
  80. Kras-GM: "I'd rather pass on that, honestly." The Sea Dragon says, before sliding the drink to Rotha.
  81. Kyben: *Kyben approaches the stool* "I don't drink alcohol, so anything without that is fine, and please do tell us *where the fuck we are*" *there was a bit of agression on his tone, as if he found the one responsable for this whole deal.*
  82. Rotha: "Suit yourself." Rotha chugs the whole thing at alarming speed. "But lemme tell ya it was *some* tale! Now, how about another?" She pushes the empty mug forward, having conveniently forgotten she was told "only one."
  83. Sarah: *Sarah hops off the wall, and saunters up to Rotha. "While we're here, you don't mind being touched, do you?" Sarah asks, softly enough to not interrupt the sea dragon.*
  84. Rotha: "Oh, hey, funny thing! You're real! Jeez, I thought you were a hallucination."
  85. Kras-GM: The Sea Dragon pours milk into a mug, before handing it over to Kyben "Well, why, you are in the Dream Dungeon. A place where you go in your dreams-" The Sea Dragon stops, as he grabs Rotha's drink "-Only one-" he replies, tucking it under the counter with one of his six arms, before turning back to Kyben "The place where- Uh, I already said that. I mean. Eh, you are here because I- we brought you guys here."
  86. Sarah: *Sarah shuffles a bit. "Is that a yes?"*
  87. Rotha: "Don't see why not," Rotha says, smiling obliviously.
  88. Kras-GM: "What was the question again?"
  89. Kyben: *Kyben gives a look of disgust, but returns his attention to the bartender, while drinking the milk, rather calmly* "So YOU brought us here, you better have a *damn* good reason, or else Im gonna show you why people don't mess with *me"*
  90. Sarah: *Sarah presses against Rotha slightly, seeming to relax a bit. Her tail drifts onto the Flower Candy's back, giving her a gentle hug. "Oh, I was talking to my new friend here. You brought us to the Dream Dungeon. Got it."*
  91. Rotha: "Oh, hey hey, you should *charge* for that..."
  92. Kras-GM: "It is all part of a game. You go through some doors, face some perilous dangers, come back with loot and then you may wake up with the loot on your bedside. Easy money, no risk involved."
  93. Sarah: *"Cool," Sarah says, "What do -you- get out of it, then?"*
  94. Kras-GM: The Sea Dragon turns to Sarah, and just quips a "Don't worry about it."
  95. Rotha: "Why're ya asking? This is a massage, right?" And then she whirls to face the bartender with almost enough force to send Sarah flying: "What's this about *money?*" she says, licking her lips.
  96. Rotha: (oh, whoop, i thought you were addressing Rotha there XD)
  97. Kras-GM: (I mean- Oh, you mean Sarah addressing Rotha)
  98. Kyben: "Loot? You mean Old fashioned Gold Stuff and Magical Artifacts?" *Kyben's Tone lights up, Magical Artifacts -or really, any extra surplus on money you can spend- are always good*
  99. Kras-GM: "Oh, there's gold to be found, alright. Don't expect to leave with a treasure trove on your first delving, however."
  100. Kyben: "Hm, What did you mean by 'Dangerous Perils' before, though?"
  101. Sarah: *"Not salt, I hope, right?" Sarah says.*
  102. Kras-GM: "Ah, it is nothing, just stuff like being pirced by several arrowtips. Maybe a whole room on fire. Or possibly some caustic deadly smoke..."
  103. Kras-GM: "Nothing that you won't walk out of just fine."
  104. Sarah: *"Ah good, just as long as it isn't salt," Sarah says.*
  105. Kyben: *There is a long silence from Kyben's part, trying to figure if the Sea Dragon was trying to be even a remote ounce of funny, and miserably failing at so*
  106. *"...For Real"*
  107. Kras-GM: "This is the Dream Dungeon! It is in the name! Disembowelements in dreams! Come on, have you never had a nightmare? Did you die afterwards?"
  108. Rotha: "I once dreamed I ate a hundred gallons of chili and exploded!" Rotha offers cheerfully.
  109. Sarah: *Sarah put her hand to her chin. Well, there went her theory. It explained the magic, though.*
  110. Rotha: "Right as rain after that, though you can guess I didn't touch the chili at the diner for a week or a month afterward..."
  111. Kyben: "N-No?? Im pretty sure I have never died, *Ever.* Be it Dream or Reality."
  112. Kras-GM: "So... What are you waiting for? Get to it!" He says, before pointing to the wall opposite to the bar. Then, after a low rumble, three doors emerge from the ground, on that same wall, one besides the other... With some space in between.
  113. Rotha: "Heyyyyy..." Rotha rubs her chin suspiciously. "This isn't that thing where there's a car behind one door, and if you choose wrong a scrapgoat *eats* the car, is it?"
  114. Kras-GM: "You may open all doors, if you try well and hard enough. And claim what is behind it... If you try well and hard enough. This is a game of skill, not luck- Well, mostly skill."
  115. Kras-GM: (Also, just now I realized the parallel with THAT game, hole shit)
  116. Sarah: *Sarah runs over to the doors, and gives them a good listen. Even with whatever dream spell was going on, she was confident she could still listen in on any magic one these trials.*
  117. Sarah: (Is there an investigate roll?)
  118. Rotha: (investigate is a FATE Core skill)
  119. Rotha: (if it's not on your sheet you'd roll to overcome at +0)
  120. Sarah: (+2 for me)
  121. Kras-GM: (You may roll for that)
  122. Kras-GM: (Use !roll 4df+2)
  123. Sarah: !roll 4df+2
  124. DiscoDude: <@Sarah> rolled 4df+2 for 4 [4df = [+][ ][ ][+]]
  125. Rotha: (good roll!)
  126. Kras-GM: (Time to check my notes!)
  127. Kras-GM: The right golden door is clearly magical... And you find a mudane secret on the left door!
  128. As you listen in, you hear the sounds of... The sea? This is not right... You know this kind of effect, after all, you have listened on in a lot of things before, almost without tought, your hand reaches to one of the stone bricks of the "secret" door and pull it out. It was but a lid, hiding a hollow spot where the locking mechanisms of the door can be accessed.
  129. You feel pretty good about that, you are **STARTING OUT GREAT** (You get a boost)
  130. Kras-GM: Congratulations, Sarah, on the first SWS of the game.
  131. Rotha: "You sure you're supposed to do that?" Rotha says, rasising an eyebrow.
  132. Rotha: _turns to the barkeep. "Hey! Are we allowed to do that?"_
  133. Kyben: *Kyben Sighs* "....Well, I guess it won't hurt to try and get something valuable out of this." *he turns around to find Sarah already finding a secret door*
  134. Kras-GM: "You don't see me trying to stop you, do you?"
  135. Kras-GM: ( <@!Kyben> Finding a secret on a not-so-secret "secret" door)
  136. Kras-GM: (Say that three times fast)
  137. Sarah: *Sarah turned to the Sea Dragon. She figured if there were any rules, they'd have been told already. But from his response, it sounded like she'd done well.*
  138. Kras-GM: "Wait... Did I give any of you... Some starting equipment?" The Sea Dragon asks, scratching his chin.
  139. Kyben: (oh well, it was not intended to be found, right?)
  140. Rotha: "Is that fancy-talk for 'free stuff'? 'Cause I'm *always* down for free stuff," Rotha grins.
  141. Kras-GM: (The brick... Weeeell, I did make this stuff so you could overcome it, Y'know, but sure)
  142. Kyben: "Wait, *Starting Equipment?* "
  143. Rotha: (think of it this way)
  144. Rotha: (there are goodies we don't *have* to find, but they're there to reward us in case we roll well)
  145. Kras-GM: "Huh, I don't see you guys with bags or anything... Wathever, just take a backpack each of the appropriate size, each of you... With some stuff in it."
  146. Kras-GM: Each of you gains pocession of a plain-looking leather backpack
  147. Kras-GM: You now have an inventory
  148. Kras-GM: [Fanfarre sound]
  149. Kras-GM: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1OgMc6Uw_SA-u-vEICbOhW0YIcWGQ04MO-lnvn6PLwAA/edit?usp=sharing
  150. Kyben: (*Du dud-* oh damnit, you beat me to it)
  151. Sarah: *Sarah walks over to the Sea Dragon, curtsies, and takes her sack. Using her tentacle-ears, she opens it, and takes a look inside.*
  152. Kras-GM: "Huh, I guess she got a sack instead of a backpack..."
  153. Kras-GM: ``` Starting Pack: One torch that never burns out, a roll of 30 feet of rope, a set of tools (traps and other mechanisms), a 10 foot light metal pole that can be collapsed to a fourth of its full size, ten sheets of paper along with a pen, a shovel, a spyglass and a lighter rod. ```
  154. Kras-GM: "Did anyone else got anything that was not a backpack, to carry your stuff?"
  155. Kyben: *Kyben's Backpack matches his fur -Which is White, in case that wasn't mentioned before- and as he opens it, the first thing he finds is the pole, already collapes to a fourth of its size*
  156. "What is this pole for? it doesn't look like a good weapon..."
  157. Kras-GM: "For poking."
  158. Kras-GM: "Prodding... And just being a pole."
  159. Kyben: "This is like, a meter or two, how is it gonna be good for poking? I might as well attempt to scratch whatever I find!"
  160. Kras-GM: "It... It can extend four times its size."
  161. Kyben: "...." *Kyben Shakes the pole*
  162. Kras-GM: _The pole rattles sligtly for a few seconds... And then jumps out, into a ten-feet pole._
  163. Kyben: *Kyben is Startled by the pole expanding* "WHOAH, Neat!"
  164. Kras-GM: "So. You guys are free to do as you please. Don't expect me to tell you what to do. By the way, while you have gotten a critical step with the left door... You are yet to open any door."
  165. Kyben: "Oh, Right! we are supposed to open it!" *Kyben aproaches the door, Carrying the Ten-foot pole as if it was some sort of hilariously long bat*
  166. Rotha: _picks up her backpack, which transforms into a brightly colored canvas backpack, pink with white and green flowers all over it._
  167. Rotha: "Wh...what the?" You could almost swear there are tears welling in her eyes. "I haven't seen this thing since middle school! When Dev Jenpers stole it and threw it under the bus! Aww, I cried for *days*!"
  168. Kras-GM: The Sea Dragon raises his hands as if in defeat *"I thought we were going to do default packs this time around, what is going on?"* he whispers to himself in despair.
  169. Sarah: *Saran glances over at Kyben, chuckling. She walks back to the gold door, and places her hand on it. She'd dealt with her share of magical locks, how hard could this one be? She focuses on the magic in the door, and plays with it.*
  170. Sarah: !roll 4df+1
  171. DiscoDude: <@Sarah> rolled 4df+1 for -3 [4df = [-][-][-][-]]
  172. Kyben: (***ow***)
  173. Sarah: *Sarah might be rusty with her magical locks.*
  174. Kras-GM: Sarah, you start focusing your magic on the door... And... Then look at the door...
  175. Kras-GM: You finally see, now, what its small designs are
  176. Kras-GM: The golden door depicts several scenes of terrible doom and disgrace, in a very, very small scale, and, yet, incredible detail. You can see scenes of torture, scenes of people succumbing to natural disasters and even suffering from horrendous attacks from misshapen monsters. You can see fear and despair in every single one of their faces.
  177. Kras-GM: Then, they scream, loudly, screams of agony.
  178. Rotha: _simply stares._
  179. Sarah: *Sarah lets go, and waves her arms in front of her.*
  180. Kras-GM: !roll 4df+2 (Sarah, roll to defend against a mental attack)
  181. DiscoDude: <@Kras-GM> rolled 4df+2 for 2 [4df = [ ][ ][+][-]] (Sarah, roll to defend against a mental attack)
  182. Rotha: "Wow-wee. Talking doors. What will they think of next?"
  183. Sarah: !roll 4df+3
  184. DiscoDude: <@Sarah> rolled 4df+3 for 3 [4df = [-][+][+][-]]
  185. Kras-GM: Your will is not shaken, you grab a hold of yourself. Maybe shaken, maybe not... But certainly not stirred.
  186. Kyben: *Kyben stops dead on his track, the fuck just happened?*
  187. Rotha: "Right, right. Step aside. Time for the *professional* to take over." Rotha pushes up her sleeves that aren't there and pushes right past Sarah.
  188. Kras-GM: The Sea Dragon sips a drink he just poured himself. "Now that's the Delver luck I know."
  189. Kras-GM: "By the way. Sorry to meddle in your affairs. Not to tell you how you do your things, but. Have you considerated trying to continue working on the left door... Oooor... Maybe the middle door?"
  190. Rotha: "The bank people keep tryin' to lock me outta my trailer, and I just keep breakin' back in...you'd think they'd have gotten the picture 'round the 27th time. 'Foreclosure'! Ha!"
  191. Rotha: She pulls free a needle-like crystal projection - apparently a ready lockpick she keeps inconspicuously nestled among the rest of her crystals - and sets to work on the door.
  192. Rotha: !roll 4dF+2 (Burglary)
  193. DiscoDude: <@Rotha> rolled 4dF+2 for 1 [4dF = [+][-][-][ ]] (Burglary)
  194. Sarah: (Wait, which door did you go for?)
  195. Kyben: (wow, this door is certainly not being nice)
  196. Rotha: (the same one Sarah tried)
  197. Kras-GM: Your crystal lockpick does NOT find purchase on the door. You hear whispers coming from it as you work. *"Why... Why me?"* *"Please, someone, help"* *"Is there a God? Have He forsaken me?"*... You brush the toughts away, but it is several frustrating moments of work on a door without a visible lock.
  198. Kras-GM: What do?
  199. Kyben: *Kyben picks up that Rotha's attempt at Picking the lock didn't work, so he decides to take action* "Hey, Rock Candies, Move away, im gonna *Kick it open!* "
  200. Kras-GM: Everyone may roll notice
  201. Sarah: !roll 4df+1
  202. DiscoDude: <@Sarah> rolled 4df+1 for 1 [4df = [ ][ ][ ][ ]]
  203. Kyben: !roll 4df+1
  204. DiscoDude: <@Kyben> rolled 4df+1 for 3 [4df = [+][+][-][+]]
  205. Kras-GM: Kyben, as soon as you say that, you clearly notice that the Sea Dragon has taken cover under the counter.
  206. Rotha: !r 4dF
  207. DiscoDude: <@Rotha> rolled 4dF for -2 [4dF = [-][-][ ][ ]]
  208. Rotha: (oof XD)
  209. Rotha: _whirls around and says to the Sea Dragon, accusingly: "You better not let those bank people get any ideas!"_
  210. Rotha: She doesn't notice he's taken cover *at all.*
  211. Kras-GM: <@!Rotha> , you notice AGAIN that your backpack looks like a backpack you had in the past
  212. Sarah: *Sarah hops onto the wall, and scurries a little bit away from the door.*
  213. Kyben: "Heh, just get ready for this...!" *Kyben drops his rod, and runs towards the door, once he is at less than a meter from it, he Roundhouse kicks the damn thing* "TASTE THIS!"
  214. Kras-GM: You know
  215. Kras-GM: That gold is very soft
  216. Kyben: (Should I roll Fight, or Physique?)
  217. Kras-GM: You don't really need to roll
  218. Kyben: *(~~good~~ aww)*
  219. Kras-GM: Kyben's kick find purchase on the door.
  220. Kras-GM: It rips the gold right open
  221. Kras-GM: And out comes what apears to be a limitless aumount of dark, caustic smoke.
  222. Rotha: (congratz, you just Rider Kick'd open a door to hell XD)
  223. Rotha: ("Nothing was in the mailbox. Nothing after nothing came pouring out...")
  224. Kyben: (OH YEAH- W-wait a second...)
  225. Rotha: _takes a whiff._
  226. Rotha: "Pheee-yeww! That smells like Uncle Carmichael's barbecue!"
  227. Kras-GM: The door screams in agony as smoke pours from its wound, as well as from the eyes and mouths of all individual beings depicted in the door.
  228. Sarah: *Sarah watches the torrent of smoke from her perch on the wall, ready to scurry away if it starts getting closer to her. Or moving around like a living being.*
  229. Kyben: "HAHA- W-WHAT?!" _Kyben Didn't except the whole door to start screaming on his_ ***foot***
  230. Kras-GM: So, any of you try to avoid the smoke?
  231. Rotha: "Poor guy can't cook a dang thing without burning it," she says to Sarah. "Doesn't stop him from holding these big outdoor cookouts. And we *all* had to go just to be polite."
  232. Rotha: _doesn't yet!_
  233. Kyben: *he tries to back away from the door, as quickly as possible*
  234. Sarah: (Sarah's on the wall, ready to run away.)
  235. Kras-GM: Kyben and Rotha. The Smoke burns deep into you in more ways than physical... Sadly, Kyben can't escape, since he has the foot on the door, and Rotha failed her common sense saving throw.
  236. Each of you take one Physical stress and one Mental stress.
  237. Rotha: (hey, uh, can I call that a self-compel on Laser-Focused Tunnel Vision?)
  238. Kras-GM: Sure
  239. Kras-GM: Get your fate point
  240. Rotha: (*-fistpump-*)
  241. Rotha: "Wow, *jeez!*" Rotha coughs, finally starting to back away a bit. "And it *tastes* even *worse!*"
  242. Kras-GM: The smoke seems to pool close to the ground, below the tables. The Sea Dragon finally rises from below the counter... He's wearing a completely sealed outfit, like those you'd see scientists use when dealing with radioactive material.
  243. Kyben: (Hmmm, think i can't compel for anything now that things turned ugly xD)
  244.
  245. "Fuck, What the hell is this shit?!"
  246. Rotha: "ALIEN!" Rotha shrieks, pointing at the bartender.
  247. Rotha: "SPACE ALIEN! JUST LIKE IN THE COMICS!" She drops to her knees: "Please don't stick any probes up my behind!"
  248. Sarah: *Once the smoke clears, Sarah walks behind Kyben, and rubs his back. She's glad she was able to avoid the smoke, and she hopes she can at least soothe him a bit.*
  249. Kras-GM: "Not to tell you how to do your thing, but, have you ever played 'the floor is lava'?"
  250. Rotha: "Uhhhh."
  251. Sarah: *"Ooh, I'm good at that game," Sarah says.*
  252. Rotha: _seems surprised the 'alien' is talking in the bartender's voice._
  253. Rotha: "Is that the one with the tables, or the one with the chairs?"
  254. Kras-GM: The caustic smoke stops pouring from the door, and starts gathering in the middle of the tavern, swirling in a higher and higher pile with each second.
  255. "Nevermind." The Sea dragon replies "The ground will be clear soon enough..."
  256. Kras-GM: "Not that it is better than the option, however."
  257. Rotha: "Wait, hang on! I remember now!" She clambers ungainly on top of the bar. "H-how's this?"
  258. Kras-GM: "You're doing... Great."
  259. Kyben: "Agh, this black stuff *hurts* my leg is all itchy, AGHH!!" *he finally pulls the leg from the door, and quickly sits atop one of the tables, trying to check if it hurt*
  260. Rotha: _sniffs again._
  261. Rotha: "Smells like you got yourself a *fire* goin' on in these here premises, Mr. Space Alien. Where're the sprinkers in this place?"
  262. Kyben: "I don't think there even are any sorts of sprinklers that can deal with *this*" *as he points to the big black mass of bad stuff in the middle of the tavern*
  263. Kras-GM: The smoke raises and raises, by now, the door is completely silent. The smoke eventually solidifies in a single black, large Stellated Dodecahedron. It stays there, floating, silently.
  264. Kras-GM: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/25/Small_Stellated_Dodecahedron_1.jpg
  265. Kras-GM: (The shape)
  266. Sarah: *"You said we can get treasure, right?" Sarah says, and points to the star-like shape, "Can I have that?"*
  267. Rotha: "Ooh, sparkly." She sits transfixed for a moment, then shakes her head and turns to the bartender: "What's the catch here?"
  268. Kras-GM: As soon as you say that, the shape speaks "I am the Collector of Agonies. You may not have me. Instead, you should consider providing me with a sacrifice."
  269. Kras-GM: The Sea Dragon says "The catch is that you are fucked."
  270. Rotha: "C-collector? Like a *tax* collector?" She looks at the star with a mixture of fear and hatred.
  271. Kras-GM: ( God XD)
  272. Sarah: *Sarah thinks for a moment. "Hey, Bartender Dungeon Master dude, I never asked for my drink."*
  273. Kyben: "Uh, UH, *What?*"
  274. Kras-GM: The bartender pauses for a moment at what Sarah said, and then says "This is your first time, I will be merciful with you."
  275. Kras-GM: He then ducks down, searching for something specific.
  276. Kras-GM: Eventually, he brings a fishbowl to the counter, along with water and a goldfish in it "Here is your *drink*."
  277. Rotha: "That ain't a drink! That's somebody's pet! Even *I* wouldn't drink that and I drank from a *toilet* once!"
  278. Rotha: _looks around hastily and says: "It was all clean 'n' everything, don't you worry none!"_
  279. Sarah: *Sarah curtsies, and takes the fish bowl. She walks over to the Collector, and holds the fish out for the floating geometric shape.*
  280. Rotha: "An' it was on a bet, anyway!"
  281. Rotha: "H-hey, now! What're you doin' with that there *goldfish?*" Rotha moves to try and stop Sarah.
  282. Sarah: *"The goldfish is also dreaming, right?" Sarah asks.*
  283. Kras-GM: "This goldfish ain't even real." the Sea Dragon replies "Not all people you meet in your dreams are other dreaming people."
  284. Kras-GM: Alright! Rotha, you may make a roll to stop Sarah, if you so desire.
  285. Kras-GM: This likely will be phisique
  286. Rotha: (not Athletics?)
  287. Kras-GM: Lemme see
  288. Rotha: (okay so it looks like Athletics would make more sense for something like running, while Physique would be for something more like a test of raw muscle)
  289. Rotha: (since I think Rotha is probably going to *bodycheck* Sarah, Physique it is XD)
  290. Rotha: !f 2 (Athletics)
  291. DiscoDude: <@Rotha> rolled 4dF+2 for 0 [4dF = [-][ ][-][ ]]
  292. Rotha: (er)
  293. Rotha: (*Physique)
  294. Kras-GM: Sarah, you may defend, Athletics is an elegible defense
  295. Sarah: !roll 4dF+3
  296. DiscoDude: <@Sarah> rolled 4dF+3 for 3 [4dF = [-][+][+][-]]
  297. Kras-GM: Rotha, no dice
  298. Kras-GM: As amusing as Goldfish spilled all over the floor would be, the interception fails
  299. Sarah: *"The... What are you doing?" Sarah says, sidestepping Rotha, "You're going to make me drop it and that doesn't help anyone."*
  300. Rotha: "Don't give the fishy to the creepy star! *Please!*"
  301. Rotha: "It didn't do nothin' wrong!"
  302. Kyben: "Didn't you hear the Bartender? That thing isn't even real!" *Kyben is still above the table*
  303. Kras-GM: Sadly, Rotha's pleas go unanswered as the Collector of Agonies swallows up the fishbowl, the water and the fish, all in one go.
  304. Rotha: "Y-yeah, b-but it *could* be! What was that stuff about takin' treasures outside the dream?"
  305. Rotha: _whimpers pitifully at the sight. "I wanted to take the fishy home," she moans._
  306. Kras-GM: The horrid shape then floats slowly over the door, and, the door engulfs it, closing itself, without being any worse for wear... Except now there is a goldfish despicted somewhere in the door.
  307. Rotha: Rotha's expression of sorrow turns into one of absolute despair.
  308. Sarah: *Sarah blinks, lowers her hands, and offers... nothing, to Rotha. "Oh," Sarah says.*
  309. Kyben: "Oh, Don't start crying, maybe we will find some Piranha or Vanguard and you can try to bring *that* home!"
  310. Kras-GM: "Well, if you had the money, you could have taken it home, sadly, none of you are getting money so far."
  311. Kras-GM: "I mean..."
  312. Rotha: _whirls around and grabs the bartender by his metaphorical lapels. "WHERE DO WE GET MONEY, MR. SPACE ALIEN?!?"_
  313. Kras-GM: "You could have taken **A** goldfish"
  314. Kras-GM: "Uh... beyond the other two doors are a safer bet."
  315. Rotha: _grunts and lets him go. She walks towards the left door, but points at the golden door as she passes: "I'm comin' back for you, fishy, just wait 'n' see! And as for you, creepy star man! You and I're gonna have a *reckonin'*, ya hear? A ***reckonin'!***"_
  316. Rotha: "So how do we get this dang thing open?" She whips out her pick again and tries to unlock the left door.
  317. Rotha: !f 2 (Burglary)
  318. DiscoDude: <@Rotha> rolled 4dF+2 for 5 [4dF = [+][+][+][ ]]
  319. Rotha: (WOO)
  320. Kras-GM: You treat this mechanism like you treat your drinks
  321. Kras-GM: you take care of it quickly
  322. Rotha: (a beautiful analogy.)
  323. Kras-GM: **SWIFT WORK**
  324. Kras-GM: You gain a boost
  325. Kras-GM: The door swings open effortlessly under the ministrations of Rotha
  326. Rotha: "Those bank people make *way* tougher locks than *this,*" Rotha chuckles as she pushes past the door.
  327. Kras-GM: Inside the room, you see a round room whose walls seems to be made with red brick, and the floor and ceiling solid of polished stone. In the center of the room there are two vases, they appear to be identical. They seem to have once had inscriptions and/or pictures over them, but now appears to be too faded to make out, even if you were near them.
  328. Rotha: _whistles. "This looks just like Aunt Esmeresmerelda's knittin' room."_
  329. Rotha: ( <@!Sarah> , <@!Kyben>, you two coming?)
  330. Kras-GM: I assume someone takes a closer look?
  331. Rotha: _picks up one of the vases and shakes it._
  332. Kras-GM: The vases seems to be made of many lozenge(diamond)-shaped pieces of ceramic glued together. But there is more to that, the edge of its opening seems to be surrounded in menacing, jagged, pointy teeth pointing inwards. Sadly, the markings on it seems beyond recognition, but it is not beyond logic to assume they meant something once.
  333. Sarah: *Sarah watches Rotha from just outside the left room.*
  334. Kras-GM: <@!Rotha> , there seems to be stuff inside
  335. Rotha: _grins, and turns the vase upside down. "Jackpot! Money-money-money here I come! Just you wait, Mr. Fishy!"_
  336. Kyben: *Kyben Finished Checking on his leg, seemed to be fine, not so much for what he just witnessed, but he would be fine....probably* "Alright, Alright im going."
  337. Rotha: (i vaguely remember this puzzle and i have either done something very smart or very, very Rotha XD)
  338. Kras-GM: And this drops from the vase:
  339. Kras-GM: Five bronze buttons, a silver ring and a silver decorative comb.
  340. Kras-GM: There are still another Vase on the table
  341. Rotha: _doesn't scoop them up yet; she grabs the other vase and upends it without hesitation, shaking it as if that'd dislodge more treasure from it._
  342. Kras-GM: Nothing comes out, you do, however, hear something shaking inside it. But, this one is far heavier.
  343. Rotha: "Ya had yer chance, bucko," Rotha says with a grin, then drops the vase to the floor.
  344. Kras-GM: Oh boy
  345. Kras-GM: You drop it at your feet?
  346. Rotha: (yes)
  347. Rotha: (because that's how Rotha rolls)
  348. Kras-GM: The vase
  349. Kras-GM: Explodes
  350. Rotha: (I KNEW IT XD)
  351. Kyben: ( GODDAMIT *ROTHA* )
  352. Rotha: (Rotha: *-enthusiastic thumbs-up-*)
  353. Kras-GM: How close was the other vase?
  354. Rotha: (she put it back on the table before grabbing the other one)
  355. Rotha: (and she didn't move from the immediate vicinity of the table, *so*)
  356. Kras-GM: It also explodes, from the first explosion of shards.
  357. Sarah: *Can I burgalary roll to stop the shrapnel Neo-style?*
  358. Rotha: (ha ha ha ha ha ha)
  359. Rotha: (if i'm not dead i'm gloriously perforated)
  360. Kras-GM: Everyone else is outside the room
  361. Rotha: (yeah, just be thankful you were outside the blast radius)
  362. Kras-GM: Rotha, I could try to figure out what to roll for this or that. But, is it okay if we call this instakill?
  363. Kras-GM: <@!Rotha> , as soon as possible, please, so I may start doing the math.
  364. Kras-GM: Or well
  365. Rotha: (if you want)
  366. Kras-GM: be at ease
  367. Rotha: (like either way's good XD)
  368. Rotha: (i mean technically i could soak up...)
  369. Rotha: (...15 shifts of stress before i have to call it a night XD)
  370. Kras-GM: Eh, it is one hour until we close the game for tonight anyways, I'll call this instakill.
  371. Rotha: (maybe if we're going by the "consequences don't last" rule we should houserule it so we don't get but one or two tiers of consequences?)
  372. Rotha: (can I have enough time to get off one last line/action before I bite it? XD)
  373. Rotha: (like, after the aftermath but before I'm officially dead)
  374. Kras-GM: You may
  375. Kras-GM: <@!Rotha> , wanna do this first?
  376. Rotha: (you first)
  377. Kras-GM: So. The other two more prudent delvers, Sarah and Kyben, watch as the much less prudent delver drops a very strange vase on the ground. It break off into its diamond-shaped components before flying off at extreme speeds in all directions, each of them the size at least of a broad arrowhead. Worse of it all, it also hits the other vase, in the table, piercing easily through the table to do so... And that Vase also explodes in shrapnell.
  378. Needless to say, Rotha has a lot of holes right now.
  379. Rotha: _turns to the other two and offers a shaky thumbs up, grinning like an absolute maniac._
  380. Rotha: "It's only a flesh wound," she says, right before she keels over.
  381. Kras-GM: Rotha, by the way, you find yourself somewhere else.
  382. Rotha: "Aw jeez, am I awake now? ...This doesn't *look* like my trailer. Did they try to evict me in the middle of the night again?"
  383. Kras-GM: This… Back room? There seems to be a desk and a Clover Lamb sitting by it, He works on the papers with at an accelerated pace and incredible fervor. There is a pair of chairs in front of the desk. There is also a series of coins in a display, along with three bars, of which each one seems to be made out of copper, silver and gold.
  384. Kras-GM: As for the other delvers... He body poofs out after bleeding out a little, as if it was never there.
  385. Rotha: Before the Clover Lamb notices her, Rotha moves to pilfer the gold bar.
  386. Sarah: *Sarah starts laughing, before suddenly frowning. She looks towards the Sea Dragon.*
  387. Kras-GM: "You-d-d don't d-dare!" The Clover Lamb totally notices her.
  388. Sarah: *"Wait, do you know where she's from?" Sarah asks.*
  389. Rotha: "I was just gonna *borrow* it," Rotha says, inching her hand towards the bar.
  390. Kras-GM: "No." The Sea Dragon nonchalantly says.
  391. Kras-GM: Rotha, your hand reaches the bar... Then... Past it.
  392. Sarah: *Sarah looks to Kyben. "Hey, before another one of us dies, where do you live? I travel around a lot, we might be able to meet up."*
  393. Rotha: "...well, shoot. So either I'm still dreaming or that makes me a ghost."
  394. Rotha: "Stands ta reason I might be the latter, after that explosion 'n' all...ooh, I can't *wait* to get a-hauntin'!"
  395. Kyben: Kyben didn't even listen to that, he is shocked, to say the least.
  396. Kras-GM: "J-jus-st g-get out-out of t-the off-fice... Y-you ho-hoo-hooligan!" The Clover Lamb shoos
  397. Rotha: "Hey, c'mon now, I only just got here!" Rotha says, looking around for things to either snatch or play poltergeist with.
  398. Kras-GM: "By the way." The Sea dragon begins "This was completely avoidable. But, you should realize that in the end, the trully smart people are the ones who make smart decisions. If it sounds too easy to be true... It might be."
  399. Kras-GM: "But hey, the traps were triggered. And silver is not of little worth."
  400. Rotha: (assuming the treasures weren't pulverized)
  401. Kras-GM: (Well, neither were you)
  402. Kras-GM: (You just had holes on you)
  403. Kyben: Kyben Shakes his head after a few minutes of just staring at the room. "C-Crap, what did you say? I think we can loot the room now."
  404. Sarah: *Sarah walks inside the room, and picks up one of the pieces of shrapnel, listening to it. What was a powerful little trap... She pokes her head outside the door.*
  405. Sarah: *"Hey Bartender, mind if I keep the scale things?" Sarah asks.*
  406. Kras-GM: "You can't possibly- The magic has been discharged, it is just ceramic, you can't be serious, what are you going to use that for?"
  407. Kras-GM: "There's"
  408. Kras-GM: "THERE'S"
  409. Kras-GM: "THERE'S SILVER IN THERE!"
  410. Kyben: *Kyben rushes in too, and tries to get whatever Valuables remained, coins and the such*
  411. Kyben: "DIBS ON IT ALL"
  412. Rotha: _is still hanging around the Clover Lamb's office, making silly ghost noises and running back and forth through the desk with her arms out like an airplane._
  413. Kras-GM: 2x (five Bronze buttons, a silver ring and a silver decorative comb)
  414. Kyben: **KA-CHING**
  415. Kyben: *All that goes into Kyben's bag*
  416. Kras-GM: Oh dear, okay
  417. Kras-GM: Anyways, uh, <@!Sarah> , how many shards do you wanna get?
  418. Kras-GM: <@!Rotha> , The Clover Lamb is in living hell right now
  419. Sarah: *Sarah picks up five of the ceramic shards. Silver was one thing, but these were part of a high-quality magical artifact. There was a good chance she could do something with them.*
  420. Rotha: "Hey, uh. If it turns out I'm not dead after all," Rotha says, stopping her torment briefly, "can I take Mr. Fishy home with me?"
  421. Kras-GM: The Clover Lamb looks up to Rotha
  422. Kras-GM: Those eyes
  423. Kras-GM: Are the eyes of a money pincher, a tax hunter... She knows the type... An Accountant...
  424. Kras-GM: "No" He says, without a single stutter
  425. Rotha: _shudders briefly, still grinning nervously._
  426. Rotha: Then she shrugs and goes back to going *"ooooooooo"* and running around the room.
  427. Kras-GM: Suddenly, everyone hear a bell ringing
  428. Kras-GM: "The Dream Dungeon is coming to an end, for now" An unknown voice echoes through the Dungeon "All come to the main area of the tavern, so that your gains may be counted, and that you may return some home."
  429. Kras-GM: "Well, now that was something." The Sea Dragon says "The Delvers didn't even try the **unlocked door**"
  430. Sarah: *Sarah quickly picks up six more of the shards, and walks back to the Bartender.*
  431. Rotha: (does Rotha hear the message? XD)
  432. Kras-GM: (Yes)
  433. Kyben: "Huh?" *Kyben would have picked up anything else, but it seems he looted all valuables*
  434. Rotha: "Well, *dang!* How do I get there from here?"
  435. Kras-GM: The *accountant* points to the door "You don't even need to open the door."
  436. Rotha: "Woo-hoo! Mr. Fishy, here I come!" She bolts for the door.
  437. Kras-GM: Rotha comes out of the door with “Restrict access” plaque on it.
  438. Kras-GM: She decidedly looks like a ghost, alright
  439. Rotha: "Hey! Hey there! Is it too late to buy Mr. Fishy back?"
  440. Rotha: She sounds out-of-breath despite being a ghost. Possibly it's just habit.
  441. Kras-GM: "There will be next time." the Sea Dragon says.
  442. Rotha: *"Awwwwwwwwwwww."* Rotha looks catastrophically dejected, like she might just melt into the floor.
  443. Kyben: "D-Damn, you really did die, then." *On his way, Kyben actually picked his 10 meter pole, and compressed it back to its normal size, better not forget stuff*
  444. Sarah: *Sarah lights up when she sees Rotha again. "Hey, we can still hang!"*
  445. Rotha: "G-guys. You gotta help me, *please.* Can one of *you* buy Mr. Fishy back? He doesn't *deserve* to be stuck in a door!"
  446. Rotha: Rotha does not beg often, but she's begging now.
  447. Kras-GM: "Speaking of which. All non 'dead' delvers get a free drink at the end of... The day." the Sea Dragon says, putting two mugs in the table.
  448. Sarah: *Sarah blinks, and looks at her shards. "Uh, you said these were worthless to you, right?"*
  449. Rotha: _would normally be upset at the idea of other people getting free drinks and not her. That goldfish has managed to override all her other priorities._
  450. Kyben: "Oh, Sweet, Whats the price for the fish, by the way, and how much is my stuff worth?" *As he drinks the second free drink*
  451. Kras-GM: "Sure, you can have them." The Sea Dragon says, waving a hand. The shards disappear.
  452. Kras-GM: "By the way, you can't get the stuff we GIVE to be sent home... Smart guy."
  453. Kyben: "...I meant my loot..."
  454. Kras-GM: "Ah... Lemme see..."
  455. Kras-GM: he presents you with a paper:
  456. ``` 2x (5 Bronze buttons $25 ($5 each), 1 silver ring $115 and 1 silver decorative comb $115) $510 total ```
  457. Sarah: *Sarah slinks onto Kyben, laying an arm on his shoulder. "Think you can spare the change for Rotha's fish?" Sarah says, "I can, ah, make it up to you."*
  458. Kras-GM: The Sea Dragon looks at Sarah, looks at Kyben... Then start writting some notes in a notepad.
  459. Kyben: *Kyben just, just, he just takes Sarah's Tentacle arm off his shoulder*
  460.
  461. "Let me handle this." He said, Reassuring himself. Bargaining can't be that hard, right?
  462. Kyben: *He takes a deep breath* "Alright, What is the price for that damn fish, and how do i get you to sell it to me for less that $500?"
  463. Kras-GM: After much deliberation...
  464. Kras-GM: A voice comes from the back room
  465. Kras-GM: "IT COSTS 20!" yells, the accountant, who must have incredible hearing.
  466. Kras-GM: "It will cost you 20." Repeats the Sea Dragon
  467. Rotha: (`"It's brown."` "It's brown." "*-whimpering-*")
  468. Kyben: "``oh``" well, that was easy
  469. Kyben: "I buy it" Oh!, "For the Ghost Candies, if you will!"
  470. Rotha: _looks like you just helped reunite her with a long-lost friend._
  471. Rotha: "If there's anythin' I can do for you two, just ask! I'm sure I can do all *kinds* of neat stuff with my amazing ghost-powers now!"
  472. Kras-GM: "ugh... Sure... Congratulations, please feed your pet goldfish when you wake up. Don't let the bowl fall into the dround."
  473. Kras-GM: "Just give me two of the Bronze buttons."
  474. Kyben: *Kyben handles the required loot in exchange for the fish*
  475. Kras-GM: The Sea Dragon hands back a 10$ change
  476. Kras-GM: "20 for the fish, 20 for the sending."
  477. Sarah: *"Sarah walks over to Rotha. "Hey, do you mind me asking where you're at outside of all this? Maybe we can see each other around."*
  478. Kras-GM: "If you want to exchange addresses and names..."
