- 2d roguelike with turn-based combat:
- plot:
- you inject nanites designed to fight a type of blood cancer, but a design flaw
- in those nanites result in a gray goo that ends up surviving long after,
- somewhat ironically becoming more of a cancer than the real thing ever was.
- the only cure is to find the last known universal constructor
- (located inside a derelict research moon base)
- there, you have access to medbays that can partially reverse the damage caused
- by the artificial illness, but it cannot be perfectly halted without missing
- out on essential things, like valuable loot or even encounters. this means
- that you need to balance treating the disease and actually progressing
- modular cybernetics:
- found equipment increases in failure chance with every use,
- as the parts are presumably very, very old (as in hundreds of years).
- there's some very good equipment, but instead of spontaneous failure,
- the result is a catastrophic one, with a variety of consequences.
- perhaps equipment needs recharging of some sort, and the failure condition
- is only met when recharging rather than from direct use, making it a gamble
- whether to continually use the same equipment after it is spent,
- or to try and find more, for which success isn't guaranteed.
- a specific class of upgrades relate to psionics, which are powerful but
- gradually make you go insane, while also having more acute side effects
- for example:
- synaptic shock:
- this induces a targetted partial seizure, which significantly lowers an
- enemy's chances of landing a hit, while also raising crit. strike chance
- time perception:
- gives an extra turn, but with a high chance of
- the enemy getting that extra turn instead
- discombobulate (lol):
- confuses the enemy, lowering evasion and chance of using stronger attacks
- however, this has a chance of causing the player to 'hallucinate' which
- could mean different things depending on how it's implemented
- loss of sanity can be slowed but not reversed
- enemies:
- sentient fungi
- mutated worms
- homunculi or some other weird genetics experiments
- security drones
- miscellaneous anomalies
- lvl 1 slimes lol
- accidents of psionics experiments
- 2 music tracks: one that plays normally, and another one
- that is layered on top of it during combat, kinda like ftl
- also, limb loss maybe?
