- In April 2015, Roblox created a new install and launch flow for the Chrome browser in response to their removal of plugin support. This method will allow you to continue playing the Roblox games you know and love without needing to abandon Chrome, but things may look a bit different than they do on other browsers. The guide below will walk you through getting things set up.
- If you already have Roblox installed on your system, please skip to the section after Step 4.
- To begin playing on Chrome, we'll first need to get everything installed. Luckily, getting started is as easy as finding a game that you would like to play from our Games Page, clicking on it and selecting the green Play button. This message will then appear:
- Simply click the green "Download and Install Roblox" button and the downloading will begin. After this process has completed, Chrome will display a screen containing a series of instructions to follow. They are:
- Click RobloxPlayerLauncher.exe in your browser's download bar to run the Roblox installer.
- Click Run when prompted by your computer to begin the installation process.
- Click OK once you've successfully installed Roblox
- Click the green Play button.
- After step four, you will be given an "External Protocol Request" that looks like this:
- This box is perfectly normal: the Roblox.com website tells Chrome to open the Roblox game (or Roblox Studio), and Chrome is just making sure this is what you want to do.
- Check the "Remember my choice for all links of this type" box followed by clicking the Launch Application button. Roblox will then configure itself and open up as normal and this will prevent the box from showing up again in the future.
- Microsoft Edge
- In July 2015, Windows 10 was released to the public and along with it came the Microsoft Edge browser. The install process for Roblox on Edge is very similar to the process for the April 2015 Chrome update. Read above for more details.
- Mozilla Firefox
- As with Microsoft Edge, the install process for Roblox is very similar to the process for the April 2015 Chrome update. Read above for more details.
- **Note** If you accidentally checked "Remember my choice for all links of this type" and clicked the Do Nothing button, Chrome will remember your choice and will not prompt you again. This will make Roblox unplayable. To fix this, close all your open Chrome browsers, uninstall Roblox, then reinstall following the above steps.
