- To set up passkeys on GitHub, follow these steps:
- Go to your GitHub account settings: Navigate to your account settings by clicking on your profile picture in the top right corner and selecting "Settings."
- Enable passkeys: In the settings sidebar, locate the "Feature Preview" tab and click on "Enable passkeys."
- Register a new passkey: You may be prompted to register a new passkey during sign-in, or you can choose to register a new passkey in your account settings.
- Upgrade existing security keys: If you use two-factor authentication (2FA), you can upgrade eligible security keys to passkeys.
- Once you've completed these steps, you'll be able to use your passkey to sign in to GitHub without needing a password or additional verification.
