- Whatever workflow I use, you can be sure I tried my best to make it sound good.
- Discreteness
- Likeness (to original)
- Quickness
- Multitrack (D: 4-5, L: 3-5, Q:3-5).
- May be from real MTs or Game stems. Discrete, but may take 1 week to sort out tracks & another to mix in surround if from realMT, otherwise, can take a few days to make a quick mix from game stems Usual for western pop.
- MIDI (D: 5, L: 1-4, Q:1-2).
- Max Discreteness, but may take months (or years) to finish. For a complex song, Usually at least a week to sort out the tracks & assign sounds, another to fix notation mistakes, and another to mix/pan. May be combined with audio acapella. Usual for Jpop.
- V+I Upscales (D:2-3, L:4-5, Q: 3-5).
- Like, but not very discrete. CDs may supply a vocal & instrumental version of a song which I then use to make acapella. I might spend a week (or more) tuning the upscale. Usual for Jpop.
- Assisted upscale
- a variant of the above, where a copy of the song has same vocals, but a different instrumental, I can make the center channel discrete, but not make a full acapella. . Rarely for Jpop.
- MIDI-assisted upscale (D:3-4, L:4-5, Q: 2-3)
- also similar to above, a MIDI track is generated to help steer certain sounds, usually to rear. MIDI making takes time. Rarely for Jpop.
- Pure upscale (D: 2-4, L:4-5, Q: 3-5). I usually only do pure upscales if there's a good reason (ie, original was HS so I can do some sharp slicing)
- Upscale + added MIDI
- Using one of the upscale workflows, I then add MIDI instruments. I usually don't do this, there's all of like, 2-3 songs I did this for.
- Sample pack+MIDI
- Surround fix
