巨大な爪がその船体を引き裂いていた。米軍所属の輸送船であるリバティ船は浮いているのがやっとという状態で、めちゃくちゃに破壊された船体を斜めに傾けていた。その前に敷島達の乗る「新生丸」とペアを組む「海進丸」が並んで停泊していた。

Giant claws were tearing apart the ship’s hull. The Liberty ship, a transport ship belonging to the U.S. military, was barely able to stay afloat, with its badly damaged hull tilting at an angle. In front of it, the Kaishin Maru, which is paired with the Shinsei Maru that Shikishima and his friends are riding, was moored side by side.

「アメリカとソ連、今きな臭くなってきているでしょ。うかつに軍事行動ができないんじゃないでしょうかね。こういう些事は自分のところで処理せよってね。だから武装した高雄クラスを返してくれることになったんでしょうけど」

「それについては回収した機雷を使えとのことです」

つまり巨大な輸送船を一撃で大破できるほどの怪物に対し、新生丸が使える武器は設置された123ミリ機銃とこれから海から回収する機雷だけだということだった。

In other words, against a monster that could destroy a huge transport ship with a single blow, the Shinsei Maru’s only weapons were the installed 123mm machine gun and the mines it would collect from the sea.
