Kong, bleeding, placed his weapon on the rim of the crater and pulled himself out. Rolling to his feet, he snatched up the stake again. Gaw turned and rushed around the periphery of the hole they had broken, hoping to shove Kong backward, fall on him, and rip out his throat.
Kong caught Gaw’s charge head-on, leaned in and threw the creature to the side, again knocking it completely off its feet. He quickly grabbed the sharpened stake and raised it to make the kill–then threw it to the side.
