- ***** Devil: the ???? *****
- Devils are manifestations of human sin inhabiting human corpses. Devils can arise when humans die in particularly sinful locations or in particularly sinful ways. Devils can also be purposefully summoned if a corpse is provided as a vessel. Becoming the vessel for a Devil changes the corpse, marking it with Stigma and giving it minor cosmetic changes.
- ***** Traits *****
- Sin: The power and supernatural tolerance stat for Devils. Rated 1-10. Determines the following:
- * How many dice to roll for Urge Checks.
- * How many Stigma can be revealed with a reflexive action.
- Vessel: The morality stat for Devils. Treated like a health track. Damaged by acting against or breaking contracts, as well as other things yet to be determined. As Vessel is damaged, the Devil becomes more corpse-like.
- Urge: The willpower and resource stat for Devils. Devils increase their Urge by failing Urge Checks when using certain supernatural abilities. Devils decrease their Urge by draining or devouring humans.
- ***** Abilities *****
- Urge Checks: Most Devil abilities require the Devil to make one or more Urge Checks. To make an Urge Check roll a number of dice determined by the Devil’s Sin. On a failure, the Devil increases their Urge by 1. If a Devil has maxed out their Urge, they cannot use abilities that require Urge Checks. A Devil must make an Urge Check at the beginning of each day, even if their Urge is maxed out.
- Urge Dice: When rolling most dice pools, a Devil replaces a number of regular dice equal to their Urge with Urge Dice. Urge Dice act like regular dice, but with special effects that have yet to be determined.
- Depravation: When a Devil maxes out their Urge or when forced to make an Urge Check at max Urge, they can become Depraved. While Depraved, all of a Devil’s Stigma are revealed and they take on a corpse-like pallor. Depraved Devils are compelled to satisfy their Urges.
- Stigma: An inhuman body part or physical property possessed by a Devil. Devils can reveal, and thus take advantage of, their Stigma without cost. Hiding Stigma requires an Urge Check. As a reflexive action, a Devil can reveal a number of Stigma based on their Sin. As an instant action, the Devil can reveal all of their Stigma. Hiding any number of Stigma takes an instant action.
- Heresy: A spell used by a Devil.
- Contracts: Devils can make contracts with humans, supernaturally binding them together. Devil’s can place Thorns on their contracts to punish contract breakers. Until a contract ends or is broken, the Devil knows the direction and distance to the human at all times. Contracts do not have to be written down. Contracts must be fully understandable to both parties. Whether or not both parties actually understand is a different matter. Making a contract requires an Urge Check.
- Thorn: A supernatural penalty placed on a contract. Thorns cannot be resisted in any way.
- Drain:
- Devour: By killing and eating a human, a Devil can reduce their Urge to 0.
- Detection: Devils automatically recognize other Devils on sight. Devils can tell whether or not a human is bound by a contract, has been bound by a contract in the last year, or has broken a contract in the last year.
- Health and Healing: Devils do not suffer wound penalties, fall unconscious from damage, or bleed. Devils do not naturally heal. A Devil can heal all their bashing damage or 1 lethal damage by making an Urge Check. A Devil can heal 1 aggravated damage by making 3 Urge Checks.
