- Kentarus lifted the spear. A lone Praetorian stepped into her path, peeled back its black lips to reveal its double set of glistening silver fangs. She jabbed with the spear, then turned it lengthwise to block a deadly blow from its tail and ducked behind a tree. The creature scuttled up the trunk, rustling in the branches, while she put her back to the bark, waiting. Aware it had moved onto a limb hanging above her, she grasped the spear in both hands and thrust it upwards. The tip pierced the armor plating of the Xenomorph's chest, sinking deep, and she let it go, diving into the brush to avoid the spray of acid.
- With a piteous scream the Praetorian hit the ground, impaled on the spear but still alive. Kentarus wiped sweat off her brow, watching it thrash, then bolted forward to pull out the spear. Dull yellow acid splattered and hissed on the ground, dripping from the blade.
- It was no longer lying on the ground, but on its feet. Acid oozed out from the hole in its chest and saliva dripped from its extended second jaws. It rushed toward her, arms askew, hissing. Kentarus swung the spear over her head and brought it
- down with expert precision, slicing the Praetorian's oblong skull in half. Both sections fell to the ground as the body crumbled. With morbid fascination, she scrutinized both sections of the head, able to see greenish brain matter and a widening pool of acid that sizzled on contact with the moss. She wiped the blade on the ground to remove the yellow substance.-pg.171 chpt.6
