- To create a bootable USB drive with Windows 11 Pro using Rufus, follow these steps:
- 1. Download Rufus: Visit the Rufus website (https://rufus.ie/) and download the latest version of the Rufus utility.
- 2. Obtain Windows 11 Pro ISO: Download the Windows 11 Pro ISO file from the official Microsoft website. Make sure you have a legitimate copy of Windows 11 Pro.
- 3. Prepare USB Drive: Insert a USB drive with at least 8GB of space into your computer. Note that all data on the USB drive will be erased during this process.
- 4. Open Rufus: Run the Rufus utility. Rufus does not require installation and can be run directly after downloading.
- 5. Configure Rufus Settings:
- - Device: Select your USB drive from the "Device" dropdown menu.
- - Boot Selection: Click on "SELECT" next to "Boot selection" and choose the downloaded Windows 11 Pro ISO file.
- - Image option: Choose "Standard Windows installation".
- - Partition scheme: Select "GPT" if your target system uses UEFI. Choose "MBR" for older systems with legacy BIOS.
- - Target system: It will automatically change to "UEFI (non CSM)" for GPT or "BIOS (or UEFI-CSM)" for MBR.
- - File System: Choose "NTFS" for the File system.
- - Volume Label: Enter a name for your USB drive (e.g., "WIN11PRO").
- 6. Start the Process: Click on the "START" button. A warning will appear about erasing the USB drive. Click "OK" to proceed.
- 7. Wait for Completion: Rufus will start creating the bootable USB drive. This process may take several minutes. Do not remove the USB drive until Rufus indicates the process is complete.
- 8. Close Rufus: Once the process is complete, close Rufus and safely eject the USB drive from your computer.
- Your USB drive is now ready to use for installing Windows 11 Pro on a newly-built computer. Boot the computer with the USB drive inserted and follow the on-screen instructions to install Windows 11 Pro. Ensure that the BIOS/UEFI settings of the computer are set to boot from the USB drive.
