- Chet had never been a religious man. He had never given much thought to the idea of praying, and had always believed that if something was going to happen, it would happen regardless of whether or not he prayed for it. But one day, everything changed.
- Chet had been having a rough week. He was struggling with a difficult project at work, his relationship with his girlfriend was on the rocks, and he had been feeling increasingly stressed and overwhelmed. So, on a whim, he decided to try something he had never done before: he knelt down beside his bed, closed his eyes, and began to pray.
- At first, Chet didn't know what to say. He fumbled over his words, unsure of what to ask for or how to even begin. But as he continued to pray, he found himself becoming more and more focused. He began to pour out his heart, speaking candidly about his struggles and his hopes and fears.
- As he prayed, Chet felt a strange sense of peace wash over him. It was as if a weight had been lifted from his shoulders, and for the first time in a long time, he felt truly calm and at ease.
- But just as Chet was beginning to feel the benefits of prayer, he was abruptly interrupted. His phone began to buzz, and when he answered it, he was shocked to hear the voice of a representative from the Central Intelligence Agency on the other end.
- "Chet, this is Agent Smith from the CIA. We've been monitoring your prayers, and we've come to the conclusion that prayer is not real. It is merely a psychological mechanism used by the human mind to cope with stress and difficult situations. We strongly recommend that you stop praying immediately, as it is not only ineffective, but also a waste of time and energy."
- Chet was stunned. He didn't know what to say, and he felt a sense of confusion and disbelief wash over him.
