Frozen Umemag

There was a great light and I went to it. I went to it and others went to it. Three great ones went to it and many small ones went to it.

I entered the material and went to the light. The material's fingers cut open my fingers. The great ones' fingers opened a path and I followed it.

The material froze and I could not move. I could not leave. I could only move my fingers. The material's fingers cut my fingers and more did not appear. I could not feel the great ones. I could not feel the small ones.

I could feel the material. It's fingers crawled around me and all around. They are only fingers, but I have nothing to do but feel them. I am hungry, but I cannot eat, so I will feel my food.

Is this material many? It has many fingers. Some fingers are similar and others are different. Many fingers fight each other. These materials in one material; I will call them shards.

The fingers eat the material, but not as I do. The fingers make the material grow and eat the growth. The fingers must not be as hungry as I am.

One shard's fingers cut another shard's fingers. One shard's fingers cut its own fingers. Was it not one shard? How many shards are here? Are they all small? Are they small like me?

The material softened. I could move, but I could not leave. My fingers appeared and I moved. I saw many material fingers and stopped. I ate some, but I could not tell if they were from one shard or many. I moved again and my fingers moved. Another place with many fingers. These fingers cut my fingers. They must be one shard.

The material froze again and I could not move again. I am near this shard so I will feel it. I am hungry but I have eaten. Though I have eaten, I am still hungry. I will feel my food again.

This shard is one shard. It's fingers work together and do not cut each other. They grow the material and eat some of it. They grow the material and retreat within some of it. They do not eat everything they grow. The growth they retreat to must be different. It feels like food to me.

I have not felt this shard's titan. I feel its drones and I feel its scions. The fingers gather around a large growth, but I do not feel a titan from within it. Perhaps its titan hides among its drones. But I do not feel it. I have felt this shard's scions. They are small and weak like scions. But they are not bright. They are not brighter than drones. They do nothing but eventually become drones. Titans create drones and drones create scions. Perhaps this shard has no titan and must make drones in this roundabout way.

One finger cut another finger. This shard's one finger cut this shard's another finger. This shard's many fingers cut that one finger. Is this shard insane?

This shard's fingers make sound. They have always made sound, but I did not listen to it. These fingers make sound to each other. These fingers move when other fingers make sound to them. This shard is insane. It cannot control its fingers.

Perhaps this shard is not a shard. Perhaps it is many shards. Perhaps each finger is a shard. Perhaps each finger is one shard's finger, then another's. This is confusing and interesting. I will not call them shards or fingers. I will call them Zendikari, for that is what they call themselves. They call me Umemag, so I will call myself that. If I can move again, I would like to make sounds to them.

The material thawed. I feel the great ones and they are moving. I feel the small ones and they are moving. Their fingers are cutting the Zendikari and eating the material. The great ones will eat this material until nothing is left, even the Zendikari. I do not want to be frozen here again, so I will leave. I will see if there are other Zendikari on other materials.

I move through the astral feeling for light. I feel many tiny ones flickering. They are small like the Zendikari. Before I would continue to move, but now I will follow them.

I am worried. I am not Zendikari and I have eaten Zendikari. When I make sound to them, will they cut me? I cannot make sound with cut fingers. I will make a finger like them, so that they will not cut it. It is difficult but I will make it. I will make it with a "head" and a "body" and "arms" and "legs" and with long "hair" and I will make it so it can move like the Zendikari can. I will remember how the Zendikari move their "heads" and their "bodies" and I will remember how they make sound.

This finger is special; it can appear without a titan. It is not a titan and drones do not appear around it. It will not be cut by the Zendikari, I hope. I will enter this material with many flickering tiny ones around it. I will enter it and make my special finger appear.

This material is different. Before I would not have noticed, but now I feel it. This material is grown all over with tall retreats in many shapes. There are Zendikari here and one is moving toward me. It has a hard carapace that bears a strange image. It is like this finger's "hand". I will move toward it and make sound now. I am worried and I am interested. And I am excited.
